This card is a great all around choice for computer audio. I recently built a second computer from scratch and went with this to replace the built in HD audio. (This card worked out so well I ended up geting a second one for another computer)
.
It has a nice full software package so you can fine tune the sound to your speakers and the room they are in, and with the enhancement options it can really bring out a level of sound unlike you can generally hear. Movies, CDs, and MP3s sound full and rich. For games not only does it give you great sound but it also can increase the perfomance of the games on the computer (more so if your currently using built in sound instead of a sound card).
.
Installation was a snap on both computers (running Windows XP Pro 32 bit on both). It comes with two software/drivers disks, one is for Windows XP, the other is for Windows Vista. The software includes the control panel application for the card and an optional media player. The control panel has 3 modes you can switch it to (Game, Entertainment, and Audio Creation) each mode has a different look and layout but generally offers the same control over the card. The software is easy for novice computer users (it walk you through the inital setup), yet allows advanced users to set up things just the way they like.
.
The only down side to the card for me was the price. Compared to other cards on site its a bit expensive but in the end it was well worth it.
.
I would recomend this card to anyone who enjoys Music, Movies, or Games on the computer. It has great sounds and gamers get extra with the performance boost (the Fatal1ty series also has 64MB of sound ram that some games take advantage of for a bit more of a boost).
.
You will definatly hear the difference on whatever speakers or headphones you use, but I recomend a decent set of 5.1 or 7.1 speakers to get the most from this card.
.
(This and the Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion are the same card, the other includes a interal drive style extension that has more audio hookups and a remote control for a little more.)
