Garmin nuvi 660 Portable GPS with Bluetooth Capability for Handfree Calling

This device is awesome!!! Very user friendly and works great. Media player and bluetooth is a plus!! Only downfall is my new mobile phone wasn't compatible with this yet, so i had to reactivate my old one in order for the bluetooth to work properly. Garmin is the manufacturer to go to everyone!!

Research through Consumer Reports indicated this unit a Best Buy - features, use reliability, and functionality for the price.

Product pretty intuitive for the most part. But I wouldn't suggest thinking you're gonna pull it straight outta the box and go same day in under an hour. Do yourself a favor, take some time in advance of your first real trip to tinker around and get a feel for it; positioning the mounting bracket in YOUR optimal place, cords, electrical connections (especially with other car plug in devices) and understanding the information.

I found mounting the unit to my dash optimal for my vehicle - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. Even though its an SUV my windshield is relatively small. To me, sticking it to the windshield created an unecessary blind spot or had it positioned in a place where i had to look away from the road ahead. Mounting it in center of the dash and swiveling the mount arm forward & down allowed me to make a good viewable placement for the driver and hid it from blocking any necessary view.

Entering addresses, cities, and such is sweet! But again, once your mount is set I'd recommend at least a couple of local trips to get accustomed.

Road trips found detouring off course for even a small gas stop wasn't very friendly. Of course if you exit the car, like at say a rest stop - you're going to turn it off and unplug the unit to secure in your glove box. Well, restarting your trip, you have to re-power then start all over again by re-entering your destination. Just wish there was a way to say "pause," then pick press play to restart your mapped journey. Also, you should be able to hit an "END" button to end your trip. Example, you've found your hotel, so your trip is over, but now you want to go to a restaurant up the road, even within sight. ReCalculating.......

Great instructions with the FM receiver to redirect me around traffic. It's still traffic, but atleast you get a heads up alert in advance with a distance and time delay. At the click of a button you can choose the reroute and take the new course.

Complications with getting the bluetooth setup for my BlackBerry, so that's still a work in progress. We'll see what happens with my Razor for my upcoming trip to Florida.

Also, I have an Ipod that runs through my receiver on a preset channel. The Nuivi doesn't "play well." Therefore, instead of trying to get both my Ipod and GPS playing through my stereo, I just opt for the IPOD and let the GPS play through its internal speakers.

Its a great tool but not perfect. My recent trip to the DC area had me stuck in overpass/hwy loop b/c the road actually changed. Map wasn't completely up to date. I had to opt out and go to a different road to eventually get on course. Another excursion to a DC restaurant had me turning left on a road where the place was visible and parking lot accessible straight and to the right. Lastly, experienced something similar at home making a normal trip where I knew the neighborhood. Nuivi had me routed thru the closed end of a street. I knew I could not get through that way so I re-routed myself.

All in ALL, WAY SUPERIOR to trying to read a map to plot anything. A great tool that'll get you there. But even as good as it is, don't lose your common sense, you'll need it occassionaly.

This is an amazing product. Works beautifully and easy to use. I should never be lost again.

great product ,but need a easier way to download map updates .

this is my first GPS and I absolutely love it! the bluetooth function works perfectly.. I was a little nervous that people wouldn't be able to hear me very well, but they had no idea I was talking through the GSP and not my cell phone. I read where someone complained b/c you couldn't program multiple stops - I just entered the locations I was going and saved them, so when I left one destination I just selected the next destination and I was on my way. I think it's super easy to use and extremely convenient!

Although the product works well it does not have current names for routes as they appear on road maps. It takes quite awhile to decipher what is on the maps. Also, I purchased this GPS in July of 2008 only to find out that an update for 2009 will cost $68.00. That is quite disappointing. So to keep updated it will cost $68.00 each year. WOW!

Easy to use, like the big screen, do not like attachment of the suction cup...for the price should have included a stand for dashboard

I did my research on Consumer Reports before I purchased this item to which it said this product was the best for the money. It worked right out of the box and it's awesome!!!! It speaks the street names when navigating, traffic alerts work perfect and it's very easy to use. Even though my cell phone wasn't suppose to be compatible yet, it is and the bluetooth works great. I have recommended this to all my friends and family. Great deal for the money!!!!!!!
