Before purchasing this product I did tons of research via the internet. I also asked co-workers, family and friends about their preferences and experience with a GPS. Both my co-worker and brother reccommended a Garmin. The Garmin Nuvi 660 is top of the line. It has Bluetooth which means handsfree calling with my cell phone. It speaks the street names and the navigation is precise. For the money I spent at walmart for this item, it was unbeatable. I checked all the major electronic stores and their prices were significantly higher. Plus I can download and listen to my favorite music, have books read to me, my favorite pictures and videos on the huge yet petite screen. I'm not a new driver, but I don't like to drive long distance. With my nuvi 660 I'm not afraid to drive anywhere now. I never drove to LaGuardia Airport before and my nuvi got me there in 20 minutes with no problems. The only problem I had so far was with the suction cup. One day it popped off and it was a little difficult to put it back on, but my brother helped me figure it out.

I just returned from a 4-day road trip and my Garmin was VERY helpful. Besides using it to find our destinations, we also looked up places to stop for coffee, food and gas. I'll never travel without it again.
I only gave it 4 stars because it seems to take quite a while for it to acquire a satellite.

On the 3rd trip, the car charger came apart. of course it was past the 15 days and no return. The suction cup does not keep its grip and it continuosly falls off. I cannot trust it to stick and fall and break apart like the car charger. I carry it on my lap most of the time since I don't want to stick it on my dashboard and ruin it. It is accurate for about 3/4 of the time. Several times I have ended in warehouse districts looking for a residence and given instructions to turn through a concrete wall or turn into an overgrown field. I believe this product is overpriced for its capabilities.

Within 1 week of getting this product I took a 1700 mi. trip and it more than payed for it self in that trip alone. It more than exceeded my expectations. It is so easy to use that even though I am very technically challenged, I had no problems. I can't believe I waited so long to get one. Only problem I had was getting the disc base to stick to my dash board. Ended up using some heavy duty double sided tape to get it to stick.

I have only one suggestion for improvement, and that is the FM transmitter seems to be a little bit weak. When you listen to it on your FM radio, you get interference from local FM radio stations sometimes. When that happens you have to switch to the internal speaker, which can be a real nuisance. It all depends on your location and the number of local stations. Otherwise, the other features are great, and work exactly like they should... a really nice GPS unit! Unless you can afford to spend a great deal more money, it's the best I've seen on the market right now. I would highly recommend it!

The battery life is longer than many others. It is quick to recalculate a route when I make a surprise turn. It announces the turns with enough time to prepare for the turns.The screen automatically dims at night. The unit can be loaded with destination coordinates from some online maps. The real time traffic receiver has not been useful a useful feature for me.

We purchased the Garmin based on what Consumer Report said about it. Ranked # 2. We used it for our long trip to Virginia Beach from CT and it never let us down the whole way there and back. The only draw back was we wished we could custom make our route (e.g., taking Tappan Zee Bridge instead of George Washington Bridge). We did take a wrong turn a couple times and it put us back on track within a matter of minutes. Another great bonus about the GPS, when we were in VB, it's a great source for finding the closest grocery stores, Target, and Dunkin Donuts. WE JUST LOVE THIS TOY AND WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. PLUS, IT SAVED OUR MARRIAGE MORE THAN ONCE DURING THIS TRIP. DEFINATELY REDUCES THE STRESS LEVEL IN THE CAR. :)

I bought this GPS for my son's birthday, and he is very happy with it. So far, it seems to get him where he needs to go without getting lost, which makes me happy. It seems the directions to operating it are somewhat minimal, but he's pretty good with technology, so I think he's figured out most of the options.

We really like the GPS. It works well. The adapter for the car though was not as easy as you might expect. Also, since the adapter plugs into the part that sticks to the window and that is not suction, it would be difficult to move to another car.

I wanted the Garmin nuvi 660 Portable GPS with Bluetooth Capability for Handfree Calling for a cross-country trip. When the trip used mostly Interstates, the Garmin worked beautifully. However, upon entering cities for motels, restaurants, etc., we found ourselves on very unusual paths. We, ourselves, found shorter & more logical city routes. When making a 2 1/2-hr. trip to a neighboring state recently, again the Garmin selected very unusual highways (2-lanes, out-of-the-way, etc.). On our return from the shorter trip, we selected a better route, programmed Garmin after we were on it, & had a lovely trip home. Although these problems were sometimes annoying, we thoroughly enjoyed the feasibility of not getting lost (at all times, we arrived at our destinations & arrival times were accurate). We will definitely continue using the Garmin even if we do see occasional unknown American vistas.

I bought this product for my boyfriend's 30th birthday present. I was shocked that the car battery adapter brought on its first use and shorter his car battery twice. Dealing with the Garmin customer service takes about a half hour. Total mess!!! He does love the system but the parts should work!

I absolutely love my Garmin nuvi 660. This is the first GPS that I have ever owned and I cannot believe how simple and easy it is to use. The 4.3 inch screen is easy to view. The touch screen is very user friendly and I didn't need to read instructions before using it. You basically can navigate back and forth with the different screens to figure things out. It is not difficult. This GPS is also very accurate and recalculates routes very quickly. The GPS linked to my cell phone almost immediately (I have a Motorola RAZR V3i) and imported all of my phone numbers. I love all the points of interest and categories in which to find locations. I also love the fact that when you do locate a point of interest, or need to make a phone call from your GPS directory, all you have to do is touch the phone icon and you can make a call instantly. I haven't used the MP3 player or the audible book section yet. But I do love the fact that it came with a nice leather case, AC power adapter, and car adapter. This is a complete system and I didn't have to buy anything extra. It is also very portable and I can carry it around in my purse with ease. I would recommend this product to anyone considering purchasing a GPS for the first time or if they want to upgrade to this model. It is fabulous!
