Meade Telestar RB-60 Telescope

This is a good telescope for a beginner. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the more expensive telescopes, but that is why it costs less. It was easy to setup and use. The adjustments take a little getting used to. It is easy to moe the telescope too far when trying to make a small adjustment, no fine tuning wheels. It does come with 2 lenses and 1 barlow lens. We were able to get a very sharp and close up image of the moon and saw all the craters. My 2 boys, 7 and 4 absoutley loved looking throught this telescope. We look and the moon several times a week. We haven't gotten good enough yet to try for anything more distant, but we are learning and having fun as a family.

This telescope was a gift for my grandson. He loves it. It's a great product for the price.

I returned this product. Where you attach the telescope to the tripod is metal screwed onto plastic. The plastic was cross-threaded. It really was a disappointment, this was my son's birthday present.

This was purchased as a gift for my 8 year old son and it does very well. It comes with three different lens pieces, a 25mm lens, a 9mm lens and a x2 converter. We have developed a system in which we use the 25mm to find the object we want to look at, put it in the center of the view, add the x2 converter, move the object back to the center, and then change the 25mm to the 9mm for the closest possible view. It works well for us. We have had it only since the summer months, so we have spent most of our time looking at the Moon and Jupiter and four of it's moons. Jupiter, through this telescope, is about the size of a thumbnail and you can see the two bands of storms (stripes) going across the center of the planet.

My only complaint is that not on the tripod, but also the focus mechanism are loose and you really have to be careful about even breathing on the scope to keep things in focus or centered. It is afterall and very inexpensive beginner scope, so I don't expect much more than that.

We have had many hours of fun with this scope and I'm sure once fall and winter arrive and the object in the sky change we will have many more hours of fun with it!

Easy to setup,easy to use.

I purchased this scope for $21. It was the best $21 I remember spending. We watched the total lunar eclipse as well as many other wonderful sites in the heavenlies. It is well made and well worth every penny. It really shows great detail of the moon too! I wish I would have purchased several.

We purchased this telescope because it was the time of year where Saturn is close enough that you can see the rings with a telescope. We opened it, set it up within a few minutes, and were looking at Saturn's rings in no time. Very nice product for the price.

I purchased this for my son's 16th bday, and he loves it. He's spent many nights looking up at the stars.
