Gears of War (Xbox 360)

So let me start by saying that the story is everything I had hoped for. Fighting in a war where the odds are one-sided added excitement in the fact that assuming the role of Marcus Fenix gave you only four people in a squad you (eventually) command against the endless and relentless Locust Horde.

One of the good things about having Xbox Live connected to your Xbox 360 gives you the ability to let a friend on your Friend's List jump into your campaign against the Locust at anytime to assume the role of Dom, Fenix's close war buddy. This was especially helpful on Gears of War's hardest difficulty; Insane.

Another cool thing is an assault rifle with a chainsaw. That's always a perk.

My biggest qualms with this game were all online. The online play is where a game is supposed to shine the most and this game didn't dumb down any graphics for such gameplay but it had a few problems:

1) The host advantage was awful. If you were hosting a match, you had no problems. If you joined someone else's match, you noticed a second delay between shots fired and shots registered. Making things like sniping and casual gunfights frustrating.

2) The chainsaw with the online matches was a bit cheap, especially with the aforementioned bullet lag problem. Simply revving the chainsaw within two to three feet of an opponent made a 'vortex' impossible to get out of which ultimately ended up with you sawed in half. In a game where there are no respawns, only rounds, it's a bit infuriating to get killed at the beginning of a round and having to sit and watch for another 7 minutes.

3) They have addressed most of the present problems but glitches are very problematic in the game, from back flipping over cover to running while reloading and shooting while running.

All in all, I do make this a game that I would recommend for any 360 owner but just don't get your hopes too high. It's not all it's cracked out to be.

gears of war is a great game. it is very bloody though, so there is a option that you can turn all the blood off. gears of wars campaign is long, hard and crazy fun. your basically shooting up aliens called locusts and trying to end their victory of destroying the earth. online is also very interesting and you mostly play team deathmatch. i would reccomend this product.

Don't get me wrong I love Halo too, but this game is the best of the best...the graphics are awesome and I like the characters and story line better...this is a must buy for anyone who loves shooters...Master Chief is da bomb in Halo, but even he must take a back seat to Marcus Fenix in GOW....woooooooooooo!!!

This game is rather boring and Ivwould not recommend it as a good shooter.

In my opinion I think its better than any game including Halo 3. The storyline is a little lacking but its online play makes up for it.

Best Game experience... Totally ground breaking game play... Excellent split screen co op...

This game is excellent, achievments are a little hard to acquire, and it is a little short. Graphics are excellent, especially on an HD TV. Violence is graphic and there is language use, I can't wait for Gears 2. Every mature 360 owner should have this title in thier library.

I love this game. The graphics are great, sound is AWSOME!! but..... if you dont have a large screen tv you will be suffering from eye strain in no time. the lettering is super small as are all the details you can see on my 60 inch but couldnt see on my console tv.
