This film is highly recommended.
The leads played by Keke Palmer, Akeelah, and J R Villarreal, Javier, are brilliantly portrayed by these young actors, their enthusiasm in their roles is infectious and vibrant. The birthday party scene was a delight.
Keke Palmer understood her role so well and clearly had a collaborative relationship with the Director Doug Atchison.

Arrived sooner than the eta. Only minor irritation was that it set off the alarm while walking out of the store. The person that rang it up said something like "show it to the greeter as you walk out". As far as the story line of the movie go's, it just wonderful, easily my favorite movie.
