Logitech Harmony 720 Universal Remote Control, 966207-0403

I purchased this product because I needed a remote to combine all the remotes I currently have, which is three (3). I also have an older AV amplifier from Pioneer which does not have a remote or I may have lost it. It's been so long I have have forgotten which it is.

Having read several other reviews about this remote. I decided it was the one which would meet my needs. Several of the reviews I read said it was hard to set up but the majority said it was a snap.

I'm here to tell you it is not a snap. Having spent may hours just to get it to operate and then more ours to do what I expected it to do has convinced me that those people who said it was a snap were not using an amplifier with multiple uses or equipment attachments.

Having said that, the Harmony 720 is a good remote and it is almost to were I want it and it is doing what I expected. It is just taking more work on my part than I expected or like.

My wife and her parents are not techo savvy. So I am still working on getting the Harmony 720 to be a truly one button operation. My only complaint here is that when the DVD play button is clicked (when all the equipments are off) the remote does not move the HDMI setting on my VIZIO to HDMI2, even though it is set up to go there on the remote. The help feature on the Harmony 720 has to be used to move it.

Some things you will not find in the set up guide. First you have to have the latest version of Adobe Flash. If you have the latest version and you still can not get connected to register (which you have to do before you can set up your remote) then call support to get you connected via online. Even after I down loaded the current version of Adobe Flash and installed it, I could not get online, even though my browser was working just fine. My second call to Harmony's tech people finally go me set up after I impressed upon them that their program was not seeing my browser. You may or may not have this same problem.

Over all the product is a good one but is lacking in not having a good manual and complete set up guide lines. The Harmony Tech people were responsive and helpful.

If you want a remote to control all your electronic toys then this one will do it, but expect to work at it. Once it is set up, you'll be pleased you put in the time. However be warned the time you put in setting it up may be frustrating, depending on the age of your equipment, the number of items you have connected and the complexity of your home theater.

I never write reviews, but this remote really impressed me. It is incredibly easy to program over the PC, and the ability to customize the buttons on the color screen is pretty slick. The initial set up took about 15 minutes, and I've tweaked the customization a few times since then. All VERY easy to do. While it's price is in the middle of the pack, it still is pretty pricey for a remote. My only real complaint so far is some of the buttons are a little small, but I suppose that's necessary to fit everything on the remote. I've heard the writing on the buttons wear off, but I haven't seen that yet. I turned four remotes into one with this one, and didn't miss a beat. I would highly recommend the 720 for anyone looking to consolidate the remotes!

We recently upgraded our entertainment system, and the amount of remotes that were required was getting a little bit absurd. We finally caved and purchased the Harmony based on reviews of the product and couldn't be happier. It works with every one of our devices including some very old off brand CD players and the Roku, an internet slingbox that came out only a few months ago. It is very easy to use, and programming it only requires a computer. Perhaps the best feature, the built in help menus can be accessed when something with an activity goes wrong, and give you an easy, step-by-step way to fix the situation. This is the best universal remote out there.

This remote works great. Easier to set up then expected. Well worth the price. Great to be down to one remote.

after reading and reviewing several other remotes, i decided on this one. and i believe i made the right decision. it is definately the coolest new toy i have. set up was fairly easy, although i had to teach it to control my harman kardon cd changer, the other components were simply selected via model number.
i like that you can enter your own titles regarding the activities. and upon using the activities, you can scroll from screen to screen to access multiple button functions.
the time display on the screen is pretty slick along with the fact that the remote illuminates upon picking it up or moving it.
i have had a few glitches with it as far as not selecting the correct input number on the tv (for watching either dvr or dvd), but that is easily solved by going to that specific device and selecting from there.
i also don't like how several of the buttons 'click' when pressed. i much prefer a remote that is completely 'silent'. but i'm just picky like that.
all in all, this remote is great and it replaces the countless other remotes i have. and if i ever need to add or change something, i just hook it up to the computer and voila, done.

The remote was unable to do everything I wanted it to do out of the box, even after running through the software setup. I contacted customer support...and although their response took longer than I would have liked (about 36 hours), they were in fact very helpful and were able to remotely communicate with the remote and "tell it how to act". Now it works fine, although it still seems to get confused sometimes...but it can always be fixed with a couple of simple button presses. All in all, by far the best remote I've ever owned and I got it for a great price.

I bought this as an upgrade to the Harmony 520 that I had bought previously. Returned the 520 immediately after using this one! It worked with all of my devices with no problems. The Logitech software made it so easy to upgrade that I had all of my settings and buttons transferred to the new remote in less than 10 minutes. I was even able to use it with my PS3 after buying a separate IR dongle. All around an excellent choice for the money.

This is the second Logitech Harmony 720 I've owned. If I had one complaint, it would be that my old one died at just one year of age. But everyone in the family begged me to buy another.
My remote (currently) controls 9 devices (TV, 3 DVRs, VCR, computer, game console, receiver, DVD). But the benefit of this remote isn't that it can control so many, but that it controls all of the settings you need for an activity. To "watch TV" it turns on the TV and sets the input to the DVR (which it leaves on all the time), turns on the receiver and sets input to the DVR, and lets me control the receiver for the volume and the DVR for channel changing, etc. No switching the remote from device to device to get everything set up. Switch to the game console (which uses the TV's audio) and the receiver turns off and the remote uses the TV's volume control instead.
With it, my 5-year-old can watch Clifford unassisted. When my old one died, the family had to ask me for help to watch TV. (I do all the programming, of course; the remote attaches to a PC/Mac by USB for updates and the program is relatively simple.) This is a must-have for anyone who has a lot of equipment interconnected. There are cheaper monochrome displays and some peanut-shaped models, too, but I like the 720.
