I was thrilled to find these because it seems I can't find them anywhere else! I searched every store in my area (not just Wal-mart) I couldn't get them anywhere so I checked Wal-mart.com and used site to store.

OK this is a great item. you can mold it to be anything you want. it can be a animal playpen or a shelf unit or even a rabbit cage (made one). the pegs are really hard to get on securely but once on its very sturdy.

I found the grid "holes" to be too large for my original purpose, but i was able to use this for my adult guinea pig in conjunction with the coroplast(which i got locally). Not good for baby guinea pigs or young rabbits.

I bought this for my bathroom first. Then when it came, I liked it so much I bought another to use in the kitchen.
It is quite sturdy when put together, and roomy. Plus you can alter the configuration.
My apt. is small so I like the fact that the light can come through it instead of being stopped by it, like regular shelving.

I would have given this a 5 star if not for the corner connectors. Pretty easy to put together once you get a hang of it (easy instructions). The only bad thing is the connectors are not that great and hard to align. What I ended up doing is buying white zip ties from Walmart and zip tying all the corners. I am using the corner connectors I'm just using zip ties to secure everything. I really love how big these cubes are (I'm talking HUGE) I bought 3 sets of these and 6 sets of the Whitmor storage boxes that go with this system (also sold at walmart) in pink and purple and they look GREAT!

i used this product to make rabbit condo and it works great..i used zip ties to connect the grids instead of the connectors ...much cheaper and much bigger then the store bought condo for rabbits and you can design it the way you want.

We actually bought this product as a replacement for a standard pet store guinea pig cage. You can configure them different than the original intent and use zip ties and it makes an excellent large, adjustable size, cage. And, if you stack them you can create storage on the bottom.

I use these shelving units as a bottle rack to dry bottles for my home brewing hobby. I chose to connect them with zip ties rather than the supplied connectors and joined two kits to make a very tall, two column configuration that allows me to dry up to 128 bottles. The bottles fit nicely, upside down, with the necks through the square holes. I'm thrilled with the value and sturdiness of the system.

My purchase was intended for making a large rabbit cage for our 3 rabbits. They also make a great temporary enclosure to keep the rabbits outside with supervision! I can't say how this product would work for it's intended purpose. We are VERY pleased with this product thus far!

I purchased the cubes after reading about and desiring to make a nicer cage for my guinea pigs. I can not speak to assembling the cubes for storage (the intended or marketed purpose) but did read many reviews on several sites about various brands of the 14" cubes and a common shortfall was they are apparently quite difficult to assemble. I assembled mine for a c & c cage and found the wire grids very good for this purpose. I did notice, like many others, the connectors which are included with the grids are sometimes difficult to really fasten tightly, and the plastic or nylon ties available at walmart also were excellent for ensuring stability, they are easy to fasten and inexpensive to purchase. The connectors come with the 17 wire grids which are in each package , there are 20 connectors and 17 wire grids. The whitmor company was also accomodating in sending additional connectors should they be necessary. For fastening the connectors really securely I purchased a rubber mallet to aide in really ensuring the grid is settled in the slot of the connector. One can also use Robogrip pliers to connect stubborn grid to connectors as instructed on the cavycages website. I was unable to find these pliers so I am hoping the rubber mallet used by many others will do the job for me as well.

Used similar cubes for kitty condo

Walmart has/had these cubes with metal frame, but plastic sides with small "paw sized" holes. My cat loves boxes with holes, so I bought two sets of four cubes each and made a four level cat condo. They were a special buy at Walmart only $10 for each set. You can set them up in any configuration with 2 openings per cube or make "tunnels" with interior climbing space.
The best part is they fold down flat, are black so go with any decor and you use your own cat bedding/cushions so it is washable. The only thing to remember is to pick up a package of black slide ties to use to hold it together. The connectors are fine until your or your cat moves on of the cubes than they come apart. Once you have completed the configuration of cubes you want use the ties to keep the connectors in place.
