Bluetooth capability is great; I've ditched the earpiece. Able to use phone through standard equipment without additional microphone. Biggest flaw is I couldn't install the free Maps update because I didn't have ~700MB free on my c: drive. Garmin tech support said there was no work around, the software was written to use drive c:. Hence, I won't be able to update my maps for a long time.

I purchased this product after using a similar one of my sisters. I picked this model because I loved that is has bluetooth and found that it is hard to find unless you send much more money. It is easy to set up and use without even reading the instructions. Another one of the highlights to this product is that it has talk to turn instructions, which is easy to follow without distracting you from driving.
The only down-fall is it does not have a smart setting for your navagation. You have 2 options either shortest distance or fastest time (which I use). The bad thing is it may take you in town if this is what garmin thinks is the fastest way, but I have no sense of direction so for me -in town is better then lost. As far as I am aware of this is the way all gps navagation systems are.
There are many useful functions with this product, I would recommend it to anyone that doesn't like the stress of being lost. I feel comfortable now just getting in the car and going.

This GPS works great in the city, it will put you right on top of the address. Out in rural areas, it will get you close to a specific address, but will usually miss by a little. The maps are based on 2005 data. I haven't figured everything out yet, but one frustration I have is when I try to type in a street, it sometimes gives me a list to choose from before I finish typing and the street may not be on the list, 90% of the time though, it is listed. The hands free Bluetooth works pretty good. Overall, I'm satisfied.

The GPS part is great but the bluetooth capability is not up to date with cell phones whcih have been out for at least a year.
This is much bulkier than the Nuvi 350 which i should have purchased for the same price.
If you want Bluetooth go to their website to see if your phone is compatible first

This same product was $150's more at Best Buy! It works great and I'm so glad I didn't get the nuvi that doesn't have all the updated features this streetpilot has. Great product!

It a great item to have. It's easy to follow as long as you get used to it by practice it using the familiar route first. I have more confidence driving by myself. I am no long afraid of getting lost.

For the most part this Garmin is alright.But sometimes it will have you exit when you could just stay on the freeway.What a pain and time consuming.I use it every day in the l Dallas Ft.Worth Texas area.

While the product overall is excellent, there is an issue with the Bluetooth that does not show on any of the literature. That being that there are few phones that are compatible with the C550. Many of the phones are listed as Instructions to be available in the future for the pairing codes, or simply not listed at all. Sadly, my LG is not on the list. Calls to Garmin were simply referred to the web site as no additional info or timeframes were available. Unfortunately, this Bluetooth was the basis of the buy decision.

I have used the C550 one time to find a new Dr office. It worked well, except it has music that plays. I am not familiar enough with it to determine if I can controll this feature as it plays music to loudly, and gives directions to softly. I literally could somewhat hear directions while the music blared, or I could not hear directions when I could conveniently listen to the music.

The Garmin c550 is an excellent GPS. It is easy to use and has some very nice features. the hands free bluetooth is wonderful, and the mp3 is also a nice feature to have. the navigation is excellent and I would recommend this device to anyone looking for a great GPS

I personally like the safety feature that will not allow you to drive and put in info at the same time. It's been helpful in travel and around the city. I'm GLAD I purchased thic product!!!!!!!!

Easy to find addresses
The three month free traffic avoidance feature works great. It tells you about traffic accidents ahead of you and then you can choose an alternate route or at least you will know what you are in for.
The literature included does not give any information about how to extend the service but I'm sure it is on their web site somewhere
The find merchant feature works great. You can find restaurants and shopping with one or twos click.
There are only a few voice types to choose from.
The carry bag is too small for the unit and suction cup mount.
Doesn't alway find the best route to you destination. I live in a very complicated road area with a lot of new roads so this may be part of the problem.
The unit may not be top of the line but it is a great value for the price.
