The Philips MANT940 Indoor/Outdoor HDTV Antenna incorporates an unusual flat UHF panel array to improve analog and digital HDTV UHF reception. I bought this Antenna before I knew we needed one -w- New Digital TV Box,I hoped it worked better than rabbit ear antenna & it was ok before the digital switch & new box, when I hooked up the new box & used the Antenna, which I know is made for Outside but I didn't wanna hang out the 2nd floor window & attach to the house/roof,so I hold it up & see where I can find the best signal in my bedroom & lay it in the spot,I guess if U find Thee Perfect spot U could mount it & leave it,but I haven't found it yet,I must say Cloudy,Rainy day's the signal is Not so great but I had Dish TV before & bad weather did same things,so some stations won't come in or I have to fiddle -w- Antenna so it will come in,I'd think if U live somewhere Sunny it should work fine & I get at least 12 stations & they are FREE,the Pic comes in CLEAR as a bell just like Cable TV would, day's of Fuzzy Pic's are Over.

Didn't beat my rabbit ears,

I have RCA powered rabbit ears and live at the bottom of a hill almost in the middle of a city with 7 channels broadcasting. My rabbit ears picked up 1 channel well, 1 channel half the time and 1 more channel almost none of the time. I read the reviews on this Phillips and bought one hoping to at least clean up the two problem channels. I plugged it into the TV and to power and positioned it in 3 places - 1.) at the top of where the rabbit ears were, 2.) Closer to the patio door than the rabbit ears, and 3.) Outside (temporarily) on the deck. All of the positions gave me my already good channel plus the 2nd highest channel with breakup. The third channel was not even picked up on my channel scan and no others were found. I boxed it back up and it is going back tomorrow. If you are buying this as your first antenna, it may work fine for you.. if you are hoping for something better than powered rabbit ears, keep looking.

I am working in Mexicali, Mexico cross the border with Calexico, CA. I had the problem of having no signal of American channels at all. I purchased this antenna and installed at 15 feet high. Now I can see 9 digital channels in here, most of them American channels and of course all the Mexican analog and digital channels. This is unbelivable. I will definetly recomend this antenna!

I have search and tried 10 different antennas over the past year for the digital broadcast, and I eventually found the right antenna for my area. This antenna does what it claims to do, it pulls in all the digital signal in my surrounding areas. It is best in its horizontal position.

We got tired of the high dish and cable bills and decided to go back to free tv. After reading the reviews of this product we really thought it would be the one for us. We have been having really bad storms and wanted to make sure we could turn on our TV's to get up to date info. We had tried another model on one set and were disappointed. So we went to this one. Set up and and found not even get a sound out of it as to if it was working. Tried for picts trying all around both inside and outside up high. Laid it flat and then upright nothing. Packed it up to be returned to store. We will be getting a old type of antena that can handle HD.

We recently switched from cable to satellite TV and wanted to have over-the-air TV available if the satellite fails during rainy weather. We live 40+ miles from either Austin or San Antonio and this antenna, used indoors, provides a much better signal strength than either the Phillips sdv3132/27 or the RCA ANT1450. It picks up ABC,CBS,NBC,PBS, and the CW without adjustments. Signal strength improved when placed horizontally away from the TV and above door height.

Owned this product over a year. When I bought this product I was expecting it to work better than old rabbit ears. I wanted something that could be put outside so the wife wouldn't complain about the tackiness of an antenna on top of the Entertainment center. I could attatch the cable outside to exsisting cable lines and mount it to the house. On spot I hunge it it only borught in 5 of the ten channels, at which it was not a great open location. Second was a more open lacation but high up. The weather effected there when it got wet and cloudy at which i had to adjust by getting the ladder out. Third was a location lower to adjust and less moister and that worked fine until the wind starts. I didn't think it would bother it much by slight vibration, but it did. I had to adjust it, flat, but at sacrafice of a few channels but no one was happy about that. So I tried the indoor, and even worse.
Overall, product is great when stable and located in a good location outdoors. But don't get it for outdoors if you have alot of wind and weather changes. I recomend this product to others becuase its good when you found a sweet spot.

I live in a area that gets the locals in moderate signal strength.I replaced a $10 antenna i got when i got my converter box for the DTV transition. I have been laid off for some time so cable tv bill was not an option. The $10 antenna i only got cappy forign channels. With this one simply HANGING from the old mount from my dish because i didnt have anyone to install it for me. I get afew channels now and im happy with that. It says it reaches up to 20 miles and i am about 35 miles away from the stations and im getting them fine. Foe the price im very please. I now can watch tv! FREE!

I live about 20 miles north of Seattle. We were using rabbit ears before the convertion, and had to adjust them for each channel. We were using a converter box, and if the channel wasn't working well, we would switch back to analog. As of yesterday, we don't have that option. We battled with the rabbit ears for about 2 hours, and the best was only getting about 8 channels. I gave up, and this morning researched and found there are antennas made for DTV, and this one came highly rated, so I thought I would at least try it. I mounted it outside, got 18 channels with out adjusting. I read another review and found that pointing it horizontal helped, so i tried it and rescanned my converter box. I am now getting 24 channels!!! Including PBS, which I couldn't get with the rabbit ears. Very impressed, have already recommended it to several friends.

Before, with my glorified rabbit ears I had nothing, and now with this antenna I have more channels than I will ever watch. I live in Durham, NC and although I don't know exactly where all of the antennas are I suspect the majority are in or near Raleigh (approx. 25 miles from me), since it's the state capital. I actually mounted the antenna on top of my closet door in a way that I can turn it 180 degrees and change its direction depending on the channel. Of course, now I can't close my closet all of the way but it never stayed closed anyway. Overall, this is a great antenna for a great price and gets my stamp of approval! (for what that's worth)

I bought this for my HDTV in anticipation of the digital switch. It worked great until today after the switch. This antenna is UHF only. The "digital test" was fine on my T.V. with this antenna. The local ABC people said, "If you can see this signal you are good to go for the conversion and don't need to do anything else." EXCEPT....some of the channels, local ABC being one, changed signals and are now only on VHF( blah blah better, stronger signal, blah blah) so this antenna doesn't pick up those stations. Now I have to make another trip to Wally to make the antenna switch for the digital switch.

I just purchased this antenna for my tv in the garage. It took about 15 minutes to mount outdoors on the side of the building, and the picture is crystal clear. I am about 35 miles from the Chicago towers for reception and I still get a great picture. For $40... its a deal and works great!! I had bought a cheaper model from Walmart ($20) and had to take it back to get this one.. Very pleased.

After reading numerous reviews, many stating that their signal was from over 30 miles away and getting good results, I decided to purchase. I hooked the antenna and signal amplifier to the TV directly and put the antenna on a table by the sliding glass door facing the direction that all my signals come from. They are all within a 30 mile range (25-28 miles). I was getting two channels (CBS and FOX) with signal strength in the 90s and (NBC, ABC, WB, PBS, and 2 other local stations) with signals that range from the 40s-70s. These are the stations I was trying to get in better. After attaching the antenna, my stations in the 90s dropped to the 20s and the other 6 I lost completely. I am going to try to hook the antenna up to my existing wires on the roof before I return it, but I don't have much hope of it being any better. At this point I would not recommend this antenna unless your signals originate in close proximity to your home.
