Rival 6-Qt. Programmable Smart-Pot Slow Cooker, SCVP600-SS

Got the crockpot because I love to use it in the fall and winter. I work in a ministry and the hours are very unpredictable, so it is really nice putting it in to plan for the day and having it stay warm till I actually get home. I love the look and the functions. The problem I had is the handles on the sides of the pot cracked and crumbled after 2 1/2 months of use.... approximately 10 to 12 uses. I returned the item to the store and was given a replacement. I have had the new crock for 1 1/2 mo's and the handles are again begining to crack. This time it had been used 6 times. The pot gets pretty hot which may be the reason for the handles breaking. So this time I returned the pot and received a refund.

Not a bad crockpot. Sometimes it can be hard to clean. Very heavy and bulky and stuff sticks to the inside a bit. But overall I like it.

This crock pot boils on low. I've talked to several other people who bought this same crock pot that had the same trouble. If I put food in while I'm at work on low, when I get home its boiling on low AND warm. POOR overall for faulty product.

This was given to me as a gift and I love it. It has worked great, and with the liners now for crock pots this is a no brainer

As I write this I am trying out my first recipe...Chile Con Carne. The main problem I have encountered is the few recipes that come with it is that they don't match the cooker's settings. Some say 2-4 hours and there is no 2 hour setting. You have a 4 and 6 hour setting in the high area and a 8 and 10 hour setting in the low setting. Thus, you can't set it and forget it. You have to stay at home and change the settings as it cooks. It would be much better if it had a 1 to 10 hour setting and the choice of high or low at any setting. Also, I am a one pan cooker. All of the recipes say to brown all the meat in a skillet. I really don't think it is necessary for meat like a pot roast or pork shoulder. The recipe in the book for Chile in the manual says to just put the peppers in without a quick saute which you must do. All in all , being my first slow cooker, and being pretty much home bound, it sure beats cooking every night.

This is a really nice crockpot. It works well, and is easy to clean with the removeable interior. I mainly use it to let it cook overnight, and it works really well for that. I like the feature that lets it keep your food warm after it finishes cooking.
The only problem I have with it, is the lid handle. After using the product only a few times, the hanndle broke into 2 pieces. And, this was just with normal use. It definitely needs a better handle design.

i bought this thinking the features would be great. I found the pot to cook to HOT even on the warm setting my foods are boiling, I even wrote rival , recevied a replacment and the pot does the same thing. I'm looking for a new and different product.

This crockpot is one of the best that I've used. I have had two others and by far this ranks high on the versitility and quality. Definitely will recommend this to all I know.

I loved this thing for the five time I got to use it. The last time I used it I put the lid on the counter handle side down and the plastic handle melted were the metal screw was. I can't get a replacement handle.
