Review 1 for Dirt Devil Vision Canister Vacuum, M082660
great small vacuum!!

This little vacuum was all it said it was!! I have had it for almost a year and it has held up great. I have all hardwood and tile floors and it works perfect. I would not recommend it for carpet but wood and title floors it works great!!! Although I do use it for a quick "run-over" on my rugs; for that it works good. "No bag" is great, it is easy to empty, filter comes off easy to clean. It is light weight, compact and easy to store. I did buy a good extension cord to use with it so I didn't have to unplug and move to other rooms; but the cord with it is a good length and retracts easy. I am tickled with it!!

Too heavy

Bought this because my sister had one that had a plastic hose and tubing and was super lightweight and easy to use for bare floors and uphoulstry. Well, this metal extension tubing is crazy heavy and makes the whole process an uncomfortable chore! I ended up buying the blue breeze dirt devil, just to get the plastic tubing from that one and to keep the retractible cord feature from this one. After putting the two together I like the contraption, but had to purchase two vacuums to get what I wanted. The whole thing ended up costing over $180.00. I did give the blue vacuum to a friend but it's only got one tube for the floor because I had to keep one for this vacuum! What an ordeal! lol

Our new Dirt Devil Vision Canister vacuum cleaner is a great little vacuum. It has plenty of suction and is pretty light to pull around. Emptying the canister (without any mess) is easy. I just wish the electric cord was longer. It came with an 8 foot cord, 12 or 14 feet would have been much better. Overall though, we love it.

This vacuum does not have a latch to secure the head onto the wand and it doesn't like to stay on. We have a med-haired dog, Border Collie, and therefore dog hair. The dog hair got wound around in the beater brush and had to be cleaned out about every 3 or 4 minutes, several times in cleaning a 2600 sq. ft. house. The power seems to be lacking and the motor speeds up and slows down. Generally speaking, I would rate this roughly a 3 out of 10.

Great vacuum for the money

I don't expect a $100 vacuum to do as well as a $400 vacuum but I am pleasantly surprised at how well this vacuum performs. It is much quieter than my upright and the easy glide isn't so hard on the lower back. The only thing I didn't like was the storage location of the attachments. Having them store on the extension wand is ackward, they keep falling off during vacuuming. I feel a better storage location would be on the canister itself somehow. But overall, for the money this is a great vacuum so far. Hope to feel the same way after I've had it a year!

Bought this vacuum cleaner July 24th online, picked up in store about 1-2 weeks later. Today, Sept. 13th, hose ripped almost completely off. Called Dirt Devil-they no longer make the hose for this model and there are no other hoses that will work, basically I am now out $100 and vacuum.
Cons: hose

I used this vacuum cleaner on bare floors and NO pile, woven rugs (2) only. The hepa filter became VERY clogged and the vac lost so much suction that it would not pick up anything at all. I emptied the dust bin, removed the filter and tried to follow instructions, tapping the dirt out. I was covered with the stuff and it did not clean the filter. I tried using a soft brush to brush out the dust, but it did not accomplish anything. I then had my husband blow out the filter with an air compressor and that also did not get all the stuff out. I only have to vacuum 3 rooms, but could not even finish the living room only. I could only select "Every Day" in the "usage of product", there is no other choice. I used this vac about 1 hour at the very most. The only reason I decided to buy this vacuum cleaner, because it had soooo many good reviews. Sorry, people! I CANNOT agree with you! Going back to my Kenmore, even if I have to buy bags for it.

Gave away my Dyson for this

First of all, there are TWO vacs that look exactly alike. One needs bags, one is bagless. This is the bagless and I wish they'd lead with that. --- I own a licensed animal rescue, focusing on exotic birds. Not only do I have a LOT of dander and teeny, tiny downy feathers all the time, everywhere, but the birds need to be protected from dust and pollen too. They are not native to the U.S. and are not equipped to deal with our natural plants, weather, etc.. --- I vacuum no less than 4 x's a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. So let's establish that my vacuum cleaners get a major work out. I only use canister vacs. I'm absolutely done with buying anything except this one, --- Though it takes no bags, the filter MUST be cleaned regularly in order to maintain suction. It might not seem like it's that vital, but there is a HUGE difference between a 1 month old unchanged filter (in my usage; you should get 3 or 4 months under normal use) and a changed one. I always have a brand new filter at the ready and change them completely 3 or 4 x's a year, but in-between it's adequate to use the little brush they provide to clean it. Since I have multiple vacs - using another vac to clean the filter works too. This is NOT recommended by the maker, but I've also stretched the life of a filter by running it under the shower head to clean the grooves. Just try to do it quickly so as not to saturate it and do not handle the 'paper' (filter material) when it's wet. Do not put it back in the vac until it's 100% dry (I really mean it). --- When it comes to the power behind this little Dirt Devil, nothing is better. I've mistakenly sucked up an actual T-shirt that the hose got too close to. It ended up completely IN the canister and the vac kept on going. --- The cord is fine for length, but rather than take any chances I have it plugged into an extension cord anyway. --- Yes, sometimes it flips over, but honestly I don't find this happens very often. --- I vac from carpet to bare floors without any problem whatsoever and popping the head off using a foot rather than bending over is easy, easy. Popping it right back on after using the nozzle is equally easy. --- ONE drawback? The adjustable wand is awkward and at one point with one of my earlier vacs it 'stuck' in fully extended position. These days I just don't bother with it and leave it alone. --- I had splurged on a nearly $400 Dyson canister less than a year ago. After 2 months of trying to love it, I gave it away. Bought my old reliable Dirt Devil for it's power and lightness. The Dyson's wand was especially heavy and 'clunky' - this one is metal, not plastic, but remarkably light.
I'm actually back on this site to buy another one. The Sears canister vac I've had for 3 months now is just not the same. Not even close. Even though it's for use in a bedroom, I can't live with how shoddy a pick up job it does. Dirt Devils from now on, for all rooms. It's not that complicated.
Pros: Functional, Inexpensive, Durable
Cons: needs 2-3 filters a year

I just got my Dirt Devil Canister and let me tell you, it was WORTH every dime to purchase this! This baby cleans tile floors like a charm and works well on our carpet, but would not recommend for shag carpeting....however, the attachments are very usable, and the power brush is awesome!
The canister is kind of small, but easy to dump and keep clean. It is recommended tho that you dump the canister after every use. Otherwise, it's a great product, worth it, and I love it! Thanks WalMart!! I'm very happy with my product!

I owned a dirt devil breeze and used it 3-5 days a week for 10 years and then it no longer worked, so began looking for a replacement. I got this model and am very satisfied with it's performance! It came with several good tools and does an excellent job. In addition, I can still use the tools I have from my previous 'breeze' on this one as well. Well built and very easy for me to use on carpet as well as tile. The cord retracts easily but is short so I use an extension if necessary. Great buy!!

This vacuum works wonderfully on my ceramic tile floors and my wood floors. BUT as for the carpet attachment I am not thrilled with it. It is only powered by air it does not plug in or have very good power. I tried it on 2 types of carpet a thicker plush carpet and a thinner runner.

A Great Little Vacuum

I bought this vacuum not knowing how well it would work being only $100 but I was pleasantly surprised! This little vacuum has a great amount of suction to it, way more than I thought it would.
I have had this over a year using several times a week and it has not let me down.
My only complaint is the cord is very short so you will need an extension cord unless you have a very small apartment, and I wish the cord retraction button was in a different spot as I sometimes hit it accidentally with my foot.
But overall this is a great vacuum at a GREAT PRICE. I highly recommend this to anybody.

Always purchased big vacums and just got tired of the noise and space they take... Took a chance with this canister Dirt Devil and i love it. I use it on my hardwood & tile floors. Picks up everything and specialy our pets hair... For the price and how compact it is i can't complain. I would have liked a longer cord.

I love my dirt devil canister vacuum. I use it all the time. It comes with tons of attachments, and the canister is super easy to remove and empty. I wish the cord was slightly longer, and the wand is a little bulky. Other than that it is great and really cute. Oh and the retractable cord is awesome!

This is a great vacuum for a home with a combination of hardwood floors and area rugs. It is small and light enough to be carried around easily. There are attachments for carpet, bare floor, and furniture. Also, it is bag-less and easy to empty. While an upright is probably better for a home with mostly carpet, this canister vacuum really does the job for multi-surface cleaning!
