I got this dvd player for christams and it has worked great since. my son actually jammed the disk drawer and i took it apart and fixed it, and it still works fine. the only downside to this dvd player is that the max resolution is 480p, but if your just looking for something to play movies and not hd stuff then you can't beat this price.

I have a newer model dvd player now, I had this dvd player atleast for 3 years or more and I still use it as much as i use my new and more expensive dvd player on because this dvd players plays recored dvd's and my new dvd player do not.

Overall it's not a bad DVD Player. The Remote Control could have been designed a little bit better. You almost always have to look down to see which side is the top. I believe it only will scan at 16x. It wouldn't play all of my DivX Clips. I found that would be true of most of the units though. For a few $$$ more I would look into the Phillips.

I have bought three of these. After I bought the first one, I liked it so much that I bought two more for my brother and son. Works perfectly if you are looking for a strong simple player that works with DIVX files. Nice easy to use remote. No problems yet with any of the three and mine has seen a ton of use for about 6 months. For the price, if it finally breaks, I will gladly get another one just like it. One weakness is the lack of front display on the player, but I realized quickly that I did not need it. The onscreen display is just as good and easy to use.

I love these DVD players. I have actually bought 3 of these. I got one for myself, one for my exwife, and one for my parents. I can burn movies straight to a DVD and this DVD player will play them on the TV. I dont have to convert the files as the most widely used format on the internet, the .avi plays on this machine. Can fit about 6 600mb movie files on one standard 4.7GB DVD. Highly Recommended if you are looking for a machine to play internet movies that wont break the bank.

Hooked this unit up and was quite upset to see it does not support DTS audio. No sound out of the rear 2 speakers. Looked in the troubleshooting Guide and sure enough - "This unit does not support DTS audio". If you want great sound, look at a different player.

This is an excellent DVD Player, and would recommend it for anyone looking for a good quality console at a great price! It exceeded my expectation's with performance and option's..it not only upconvert's a regular DVD, it will also resume play from an Xvid or Divx Disc, most will not. Do not be fooled by the weight of it, as it's extremely light. My only con about this product would be the included batteries for the remote, as they where pretty much dead, but that's no biggie.

i purchased this dvd player because it cost the least for a DIVX playing dvd player. my review will go from good to bad (top to bottom)
the good: small remote, plays divx on dvdR's and has an autoshut off (it shuts down after maybe 30-45 minutes, i've never timed it, if you're just sitting on a dvd menu or with it paused for that long, which is great when i fall asleep or forget to turn it off!)
the not so bad: the buttons on the remote are small and difficult to use because the layout could've been better.
the BAD: the range of the remote isn't that great nor the angle. you almost have to be right in front at the dvd player's level.
the WORST: my HDTV when it doesn't receive a signal on its inputs shows a bright blue screen. well when the dvd has a skip in it or something rather than just appearing like its paused, it basically quits sending a signal and that bright blue screen attacks your vision!
more of the WORST: the construction is flimsy. you're not going to want to put ANYTHING heavy or remotely heavy on the player and once you pick this thing up and feel the top you'll understand why. last but not least, buy some rubber or something to stick on the bottom or something to place underneath the player because it will slide all over which isn't a big deal but a little bump will slide the box!
why i didnt purchase the magnav. 1080 upconvert: i would've purchased it but when i bought my HDTV the 1080 upconvert dvd player i owned (WITH hdmi cable) converted everything up to 720 only and the quality actually appeared less quality than my 480 playstation2...
CONCLUSION!
i'm pleased with my purchase, i dont plan on getting rid of it, because even with the "not so bad" the "BAD" and the "WORST" its still good enough for me! and its definitely better than dropping $4-500 on a blu-ray or HDdvd player (yet)
