My baby loves this carrier, and I love how comfy it is for him - we had another more serious one and he got lost in it (he's 8 months old) but this one is very padded around the top so he can fall asleep and has multiple belts so he is safe. However, the padding on the back where it rests on your hips/lower back is not padded correctly, the padding stops just above the hard plastic - all I do to correct that is wear either a nursing blanket or jacket around my waist to add some padding.

Also there is some scratchy edges of the straps right where it rests on your shoulders, so I had to tie some material around it. If it weren't for those two things which would be a super easy fix for the manufacturer, it would be perfect.

really nice, 10/13/2008

This back pack is really nice. Others I have had, I had to pad the sides so my son wouldnt flop back and forth. This one had good padding and straps and is padded all around. I also like the fact that it had a sun visor and rain guard. Since my son wont keep a hat on, this will protect his head from sun burn and weather. I also like the lumbar support. My son is 25lbs, and it is very comfortable to pack him in for a long time frame.

Great Item!, 10/02/2008

My husband and I took our 11 month old (24lbs) hiking in North Carolina. My son was very comfortable to entire 1+ hour of hiking (several days), he even fell asleep on the way back to the truck. My husband had no problems carrying him the entire time. It is very easy to get the child in and out of the carrier, and it folds up in seconds for quick storage. The "fanny pack" came in handy for little snacks and my sons sippie cup. I would highly reccomend this carrier to anyone.

Review 5 for Chicco Smart Support Backpack Baby Carrier, Blue Sky

overall a good product, 09/10/2008

Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

The first time I used it I had no problems, the second time was on a real hike and after a mile my right shoulder hurt a lot. I switched with my husband and he walked with our son for the next three miles and had no problem. It must have been me, the way I was walking or the way I had the straps because he had no problem except for sweating. The only issue that I have with it was that it didn't help when it was already 90 degrees outside. The set-up was a piece of cake, couple of snaps, basically it was all put toghther when we received it. Depending on how short or tall you are, I loved the fact that I could put it on the table, put my son in and then turn my back to him so I could strap it on.....very convenient because you don't need any help putting it on which can be a real pain.
Pricewise is great, some other ones I have seen and used are much more expensive and serve the same purpose. My friend had bought one for more money and will never use it again after the inital time becuase it was too uncomfortable. This one is very comfortable as far as the straps, and where they are positioned on your body.
Overall I thought it was worth the money and a good product. I would definately recommend it to anyone.

Review 8 for Chicco Smart Support Backpack Baby Carrier, Blue Sky

Very Uncomfortable, 04/24/2008
By KIP1979, New Mexico
Overall Rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

We bought this and another carrier for our 18 month old. We quickly returned this one. It shows that it has very good back support, but the back support doesn't even matter. Where it really matters is in the shoulder straps, which are not very comfortable. I had to take it off after 5 minutes, and my shoulders were killing me. Not matter how I adjusted it, it just hurt. There is another product for sale on this site which is much better!

I have used this product several times with my 23 pound son. Works great! We did a 4 mile hike and went to a festival with it. It was comfortable for both of us. He usually goes to sleep after 30mins or so.

Review 10 for Chicco Smart Support Backpack Baby Carrier, Blue Sky

hands free travel, 03/17/2008

After an on line and store search, this backpack seemed the best product and easiest to obtain using the store pick up. The additional legs and overall frame are designed and made well. My grandson is 26 lbs so hoisting it on and off is interesting. I have a deck I can back up to and get him on & off ok.
The straps for both holding the child in and tightening the shoulder harness are too small and stiff and difficult to use but manageable.

Review 11 for Chicco Smart Support Backpack Baby Carrier, Blue Sky

Must have, 09/29/2007
By BusyMomOf4Boys, Statesboro, GA
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

I absolutely love this backpack. It is very helpful in shopping with an infant without the infant carseat carrier but not quite good enough at sitting up by himself.
The only recommendation I have is to buy some strap covers to go along with this. With the style of straps used, they rub his neck area. Just simple car seat strap covers work wonders.
My baby loves this thing and it isn't hard on the back. My baby weighs 20 pounds and it doesn't feel like I am carrying 20 pounds on my back.
Since I have 4 kids and go shopping with all 4 of them most of the time, this carrier is very very helpful.
