Canon 6 MP PowerShot S3 IS Digital Camera w/ 12x Optical Zoom & Image Stabilization

I was unsure about getting another digital camera because there were quality problems with others I had and they just didn't compare to my 35 mm. When I broke my 35mm, I decided to try another digital camera. I am thrilled with the quality of pictures I get. I had read professional reviews and was concerned with any camera that wasn't an SLR (or DSLR), but for normal photography, this was great. The crispness and quality of the pictures were excellent from my point of view. I use the camera mostly to take pictures of my kids and we just used it on a vacation, and the pictures are very good. Better than I would have gotten with my good 35mm camera. The "beach" setting is one of the best features. It captures water droplets in the air around playing children. I also like zooming fully and using the portrait setting to take a picture of someone with blurring the background. I also got some great black and white and sepia pictures of the kids. They're stunning. The other feature that turned out really nicely is the "foliage" feature which enhances the colors of the flowers that I took macro pictures of. The only negative is low light situations where I couldn't use a flash. We took lots of pictures in museums where flash wasn't allowed and those turned out great. It was lower light situations where pictures turned out blurry. Not too many though from our whole vacation. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this camera to non-professionals who want a point and shoot camera where you can play around with many creative techniques and have very high quality prints.

I bought this camera mainly for the zoom lens. I looked at many different cameras, including the SLR's. I decided on this because of the great price and features. I own another Canon camera, and have had great pictures with that one, so I decided that I couldn't go wrong. I have taken mainly outdoor nature type photos. I love the zoom! (would like and even bigger zoom!) It is often necessary when taking wildlife photos. I am very pleased with the quality and defintion of the photos and the saturation of color! Indoors, I took pictures inside of a church for my son's graduation and although somewhat dark, I got some nice close-ups even though I was in the balcony! I have not tried the video. Overall, this is a very nice camera for the price! It is larger than my little digital elph, so I find that I don't enjoy lugging it around as much, but not as bad as an SLR. I use rechargeable batteries and an ultra II memory card and I can take many shots between charges. Walmart had the best price and return policy.

This is an excellent camera! I love it! I tried using a Kodak camera after I got my Cannon, and the Kodak felt so weak and flimsy. I haven't had a problem yet with the camera

It was very easy to understand and I was able to start using it right away. The most important aspect of this camera is that it takes great pictures! The colors are bright and vivid. This camera enables you to take great pictures anywhere and in any lighting. I would recommend this camera to any of my friends.
