Garmin GPS 76CSX Handheld GPS with Barometric Altimeter and Electronic Compass 010-00469-00

This model along with the GPS 76 group has the advantage of multiple ways to interface with computers or cameras. There are cables that can connect to vehicle power, computer interface, and vehicle and computer vehicle combinations. Multiple vehicle mounts include bicycle, motorcycle, automotive, and marine mounts are available. I feel all the cables and mounts are extremely over priced, but they are available if you can justify their purchase. These units are also water resistant and have AA batteries to achieve ease of replacement when on the trail away from rechargers. This aspect is valuable if in the wilderness or emergency planning.

An adequate GPS product but they give you very little as far as maps with the unit. For a product of this quality, at least one set of detailed maps should be included. Everything really useful is extra and appears to be at a relatively high price.

I have been very pleased with the features and functions of the Garmin GPSMAP 76CSx Handheld GPS. The batteries last longer than I expected as with frequent daily use they last about a month.
The unit acquires satellites quickly and even indicates their position.
The accuracy usually goes to below +-10 feet.
The display is vivid with full zoom capabilities down to 20 feet.
All screens are configurable with many options for display and presentation.
There are 37 different field indicators that can be selected for customized display.
The Compass, Altimeter, and Proximity Indicator functions work well.
The Tracks function is very accurate and easy to save and download to a PC.
I use the device primarily for hiking (and purchased a topographical map) and it has paid for itself several times over by finding my way through the woods. The unit works so well I use it in the car as well.
Comparing the unit’s accuracy to a measured mile it was right on!
The Stopwatch, Calculator, Calendar, Hunt & Fish functions are ones I don’t use that much.
With little practice the unit is easy to use. The user’s guide is easy to read and understand.
The buttons are well laid out, make sense and can be operated using one hand.
I like the fact the unit is water proof as it has gotten wet several times already with no problem.
The unit fits into a pant or shirt pocket.
Overall I am very pleased with the functions and performance of this unit.

The 76CSx is an excellent all around gsp. Routing capabilities for road trips are very good. About the only thing I found missing is voice directions. Tracking for outdoor/off road trips is where it really shines. Great to be able to set up a hike or paddle on a PC using the track tools, transfer it to the 76CSx and then let it navigate for you. More capabilities than most of us will ever use. One of the best features is Garmin support. Support questions are answered quickly and completely. Much different than the other gps makers. Bought a Magellan Crossover and sent it back. It was of no use off road and Magellan support was nonexistent.

The best gps I have owned. The Map add on's are a must topo 2008 and city navigator and blue chart americas

Great features for fishing and still works for driving.

Maps are kind of pricey, and the included one isnt very detailed, so you will want to get extra maps, but love this GPS so far.

I gave the Garmin gpsmap 76CSx as a Christmas gift to my husband and we have gone Goecashing several times in several local areas. Even I (the semi-technophobe) was able to easily use it. We have begun a new adventure and we can do it together. Love it, love it, love it! You cachers are so clever. We even took our grandson and he said it was the most fun we ever had.

The GPS is bright and easy to see, Garmin offered a very rugged handlebar mount for this GPS, and I found a website with free downloads of The snowmobile trails and loading them up on the unit was a breeze.
