Perfect for boating, Nikon's EX features bright multicoated optics, BaK4 High Index Prisms and Turn-and-Slide Rubber Eyecups with detents. And with a wide 7 x 50mm range, an all-metal chassis and exclusive Eco Glass lens and prism systems, it's the ideal choice for premium optics. And the coolest part: it's nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed for total waterproof and fogproof performance in any environment.
Although I'm used to Nikon brand of binoculars during my younger years as a deck officer of cargo and passenger ships, I still spent some of my time reading reviews. On board the ship, all of us deck officers, used the company furnished Nikon night binoculars (7x50mm), but those are permanently fixed focused binos, and not rubberized like this Nikon Action EX Extreme. This permanent focused binoculars are the binos of choice for seamen due to constant movement of the ship, whether large or small boats during bad weather. Now that I am retired and with a little bit of shaky hands, I don not want to magnify the movement of the objective lens to make myself nauseated using the magnification of 10x, and even the 8x. I just came back from a vacation on cruise ship to Mexico, and it proved that my decision buying this 7x50mm is perfect for ocean travel. The only problem that I encounter was the cabin on the cruise ship was air conditioned, and when I took this out of the cabin, the cooled outside surface of lenses took a little while to dry out of air moisture. I believe this binocular will also be a perfect companion in watching a ball game due to constant movement of objective lens' ends while following the actions of players.
