Sharp 0.9 cu. ft. Black & Silver Microwave/ Convection Oven, R820JS

I just made the most delicious Pizza in this oven. Just click on "Pizza" - it was so crispy in about 15 minutes, with no mess. Can't wait to bake cakes. The only thing - it only has 9cu My other Microwaves are 11cu. It will take a while to get use to heating water longer.

I've only used the oven once and was very satisfied with its performance so far. The microwave we use everyday and it performs well. I'm looking forward to using the grilling and roasting features.

Enjoy using and like the ease in which you can cook a veriety and speed in which food is done.

It looks nice. But I think the performance is overrated. It gets really too hot. It takes longer to cook some items. I would of liked to get the brand I was looking for, I settled for this one. It is complicated to work with.

We received the unit in good order and it turned on after being installed in a cabinet in our RV.

The display leaves a little to be desired. You must look at it straight on or it is indecipherable. Otherwise it seems to be an excellent buy if you are looking for a convection/microwave oven.

I was pleased that its measurements were right on the money since I had to install it in a cabinet with no room for error.

This Sharp microwave/convection oven worked well for as long as it lasted. After only 1 1/2 years of moderate use one day a burning smell developed. I completely cleaned the inside of the oven and metal platter to make sure there was no leftover/stuck on food that might have become burned. There was only a very small amount of residue from the cleaning so we really didn't think the smell was from burned food. We kept using it because the smell seemed to have dissipated but it reappeared again about a week later stronger than before. When I went to use it the second time, after the smell reappeared, I pressed the start button, heard a click and that was it. It quit working completely. The touchpad and start buttons would not respond to touch at all. I unplugged it and waited a while before plugging it back in thinking it might have a reset function. This did nothing. It has since been replaced with a GE model that we've had about 2 1/2 months which is getting returned to our local store tomorrow! It still cooks but has developed an extremely loud drilling sound when in use! Quite annoying and we are pretty sure something further will go wrong with this one too.

We really did like the Sharp microwave/convection oven for the time we had it although I wished the 900 watt microwave would have been 1000 watts instead. We really liked our previous 1000 watt Sharp microwave we had which lasted for at least 10 years. Sharp has always been our appliance manfacturer of choice but we are hesitant to purchase another one now although they seem to still have the highest customer ratings. GE doesn't seem to be better that's for sure. Not sure what brand we'll choose next. What happened to the "Good Old Days" when appliances lasted for 10+ years!

Sharp microwaves have always surpassed my expectations. But, price, features and look of this microwave, convection oven surpasses anything I could ever need in this type of appliance. And the price? I never thought I would ever purchase a combo oven, but it was priced so I couldn't refuse to try it out. I am happy I chose to follow my instincts and go for it!

I've been using this product for about 1 month now. I never had used convection before, and am pleased with the results. I use it 2-3 times a day. I have figured out mostly how to adjust the cooking times for some stuff, like there is no recommendations for grilling brats, so instead I cook it like a hamburger, but it doesn't take near as long. I've baked pies & turnovers from frozen, made microwave entrees, popcorn snack packs...reheated coffee, heated milk for hot chocolate, and make hot cereal almost every day. I made pork chops one night, and they turned out so much better than even cooking on the bbq, (I marinated them with mesquite marinade--yummy!). I almost messed up when I got it though; I tried to remove the 'wave guard', thinking it was just a piece of cardboard...luckily, I finally found out I was supposed to leave it on...I think there should be a removable label, quite visable when you open the door after unpacking, warning people not to remove the guard. All in all, I'm really happy with this product, although I hadn't expected it to be so big & heavy. I'm a petite person, and it was a chore getting it up on the counter. Also, the instructions say not to use foil under foods when grilling, but using cooking spray leaves a nasty, hard to clean film on the turntable, so since another reviewer says they used foil when grilling, I think I will too. I would like to buy bakeware to fit in it, but almost everything I look at is way too big. I guess I could go to the Sharp website and find out what size to use, but I don't want to spend a lot of money for bakeware I could buy elsewhere for less.
All in all, I really like this appliance...if anything changes, I'll rewrite.

I bought this for our motorhome and it works great, looks nice as well.
