Wooden Tree Hugger Bench

This bench was a Mother's Day gift for my mom. I personally don't feel it was worth the $100, but it made her happy. I have seen much nicer benches and should have paid more for something of better quality. One of the pieces was broken upon arrival. The bench should be assembled on level ground with no roots. We placed stepping stones under each of the feet to prevent tipping.

I've only had the bench for a week but my initial thought is that it is well made. The wood seems to be of a good quality and looks beautiful around the tree. Putting it together was a bit of a challenge. Be sure you put it together on level ground and roughly in the spot where you want it. I appreciated another review I read that said make sure you put it around the tree before completing! Also be careful moving it at that point...when it is not fully together and tightened moving it puts stress on other parts of the bench. The predrilled holes are helpful but again if the bench is not level and the holes are not exactly correct it can be challenging as you move one hole a bit to make a correction that causes others to be off from that point on. Overall it wasn't that difficult to put together and I've had many compliments on the good looks so far.

I came across this bench on the web site about a year ago but it was always out of stock. I checked the home improvement stores and couldn't find anything comparable so I kept checking back. When it was available again I ordered one site to store, which arrived sooner than their estimated time. Assembly was easy, although several of the screws broke so I had to get a few from a local hardware. So far it has become the hit of the neighborhood as several people have stopped to ask where I got it and comment how nice it looks.

My 16yr. son put it together with his friend's assistance. He encountered some screws whose heads snapped or stripped, so he then used some heavier ones we had on hand.

The look of the bench is beautiful but it easily cracks with the slightest reposition while assembling or moving. One leg totally split in half just by me putting the screw in. Also, evein if the bench fits around a tree in your yard the legs may not sit flkat due to the tree's trunk. I ended up just setting my bench in the middle of the lawn with no tree in the middle. Oh, also, some of the screws connecting the back rest would not go in. I love the idea and the cost, just not the actual product.

The smaller screws kept breaking and had to sand down some boards to make fit right but otherwise it looks great and everyone says its fantastic

I was pleasantly surprised. Assembly was required but easily accomplished. Some pieces had to be resized (length reduced to fit properly) but otherwise I believe I got my money's worth.

This bench is just lovely and looks lovely around the tree in our front yard. There were a lot of pieces but it was easy to put together - two people are better than one and make it easy to assemble. We just love it and have already gotten lots of compliments since building it last weekend. Very highly recommend!!! You will love it!

Bought through site to store when got it in the car you could hear stuff rattling when i opened it all but one of the screw packs were opened and embedded into the wooden slats of the bench causing permanent "screw shaped" engravings. It was also very very hard to put together even with three and four people and i have bought and put together many other items from wal-mart.
