great toy, but motor problems, 09/14/2008

My son received this for his birthday and has a blast trying out different models or his own designs.
The only problem is that the insulation for the wire between motor and battery pack is cut very easily by the metal edges of the various pieces.
Normal play cut into the wire within hours and the motor does not work anymore.

Just as advertised. All parts there and well marked. My 7 year old grandson is having a blast putting the projects together with help from grandpa.

I bought this for only 25 dollars on sale and it is great i'm 17 but still i love to build the motor included could prolly be faster but other than that it is awesome.

I am an engineer and I had to build prototypes for a new product...
I thought that Erector set could help me to design our new stuff.
In some way, it helped.
But here is the reason for the missing star in the "meet expectations": ther is too few 'long' pieces.
In my youth, I had a "Meccano". That one was really well done and had a lot of parts too.
I wish to still have it...
So, if you are to buy a construction set, go for this one. The quality/price ratio is very high. Just add some complementary boxes to achieve your goals/expectations.
