Just a Good Buy!, 08/04/2009
By TopChefJopo, Stafford, Texas
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

Living in an apartment, this oven reduces the amount of heat and cost of cranking up the Big Oven. It does not heat up the whole kitchen, which warms the whole place.

This oven does WONDERS! Its small, cooks all types, we broiled Salmon, Sausage, pork Chops, and it just works great, and easy to use. The CONVECTION feature is SUPER...cooks food fast. Wal-Mart was the best price for this as we checked Target and other online stores.

Review 63 for Hamilton Beach Countertop Oven with Convection

A Great Countertop Oven, 08/02/2009
By RitaB1001, Brandon, FL
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

This Hamilton Beach oven fits in the same amount of space as most of the new toaster ovens, but it has a much larger interior space. With the choice of regular baking or convection, broiler, as well as a rotisserie, your options are limitless! I love the 2 hour timer!!
This purchase was as a replacement for a former countertop oven and I'm not at all disappointed! I have found that cheesecakes are not cracking, nor are my regular cakes, unlike in my regular full size oven. Granted, cookware is limited to nothing larger than a 12.5 X 12.5 inch size per rack (2 racks), but for everyday cooking you can't beat it! For holiday baking, it serves well as a back up oven. I recommend this oven to anyone wanting a small oven that can actually hold a decent amount of food in it---You can bake 2 twelve inch pizzas, or a dozen cupcakes; 4-6 whole chicken legs, a 6 lb. whole chicken, or even 4 full size chicken breasts can be baked in this oven, as well as several potatoes. I don't use the rotisserie much at all, but did enjoy the pork roast I made while trying out all the functions...Clean up is easy and the slide out lower rack catches crumbs. I love this oven!!
My only regret is that it doesn't come with an interior light, but then again, with all the features it has, there's no room for complaint!

I am well acquainted with how to use a product like this, and my last one lasted 10 years. I am very pleased with the looks, price and how quickly the Hamilton Beach oven both warms up left overs, and cooks food, both using the convection mode and regular bake mode. This oven is deep and wide enough to allow cooking with my casserole dishes. Overall I really like the performance of this oven the best of all I've used, researched and seen to date!

Review 73 for Hamilton Beach Countertop Oven with Convection

First Hand Experience, 07/10/2009
By jimnice, Tucson
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

I had read many reviews before purchasing this oven and was a little hesitant. But given the price, I had to give it a try! Now that I have used all functions I can give a reasonable assessment.

Size: It's big. If you don't have the room, get something smaller -- my 16" of vertical space seems about right. Hmmm, ability to cook 12" pizzas is great, but why is it I find most frozen pizzas bigger?

Gets hot: Obviously; it's an oven! It's not insulated so allow space and be glad it generates less ambient heat then your main oven. Also, since it bakes faster in convection mode, the duration of that heat is less. Keep children's fingers under control.

Rotisserie mode: Was a bit concerned as I had seen some negative comments mentioning "flimsy". While the forks are probably not to be considered heavy duty, they are adequate for the 4lb claimed capacity. Just take care centering your meat and tying loose ends as necessary. The pork tenderloin I cooked up was suitable for photography! Mess? only drippings on the pan below -- no spatter otherwise.

Durability: Too early to say much. All parts look good and seem to be of the proper weight. However, one of the included baking pans warps 1/2" or so at baking temperature and returns to shape as it cools. Haven't tried the second pan. This doesn't seem to be a problem but keeps me from giving it a perfect evaluation.

I recommend this unit without hesitation for anyone who has the space and would like to relegate their main oven to storage a storage space for pots.

The oven on my range failed so in desperation I looked for a small countertop toaster-oven to get me by till I could shop for a new stove. Am so satisfied with this I am in no hurry to find a replacement stove. Has done everything a large oven would do and the convection feature is fantastic. So fast!

Well worth the Money, 07/04/2009

I am am the middle of a kitchen redo and have no oven. I have only been using this product less than 2 weeks but am sold. Prefer the convection feature. Used regular Bake for making a cake. I split it into 2 foil pans and cooked at the same time. Lower level cooked much slower, higher level got a little dark, possibly a hot spot, but this was the 1st attempt. Overall, I highly recommend this unit. I'm also planning to take it when traveling in the RV.

Great product for family or single people, 07/02/2009
By BearMtnBabe, Sevier County (Eastern), TN
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

This is a great product. Not many recipes in the booklet though. It also needs more insulation (outside gets very warm to touch) and an interior light so you can see how the food is progressing as it cooks. (We use a flashlight to look thru the glass door to check the food). The food is tasty and the appearance is appetizing. We use it almost every day for meal prep, especially dinner. We have cooked a wide variety of foods in it and it seems to cook the food quickly so you need to watch so it doesn' t burn the food. We have fun watching the food cook expecially foods like biscuits (they raise when they are cooking). We purchased this to use instead of our large range/stove oven to save on our electric bill and it seems to be helping to keep out bill lower. I would recommend this for single people or families as it is very handy.

Why can't someone make a decent oven?, 06/29/2009
By Alex2co, Colorado
Overall Rating: 1 out of 5 1 out of 5

I had to replace my old oven which was great and worked well for years. Unfortunately, they don't make this oven anymore and it is hard to find an oven that is a big as it was (42L). So this oven was the largest I could find that would fit on a countertop. I have tried several countertop convection ovens purchased from several stores and none of them heated to the temp they claim including ovens costing twice what this one cost. I was happy to see this oven was close, only off by 25 degrees. However, I returned this oven as the rotisserie did not work. When I called Hamilton Beach, they were pleasant and suggested I return the oven to Wal Mart which I did. As this oven is only available as a site to store item, I had to buy another oven as a replacement as the store doesn't carry them in stock. I received my second oven and found the door misaligned and it didn't come close to heating up as the first one I purchased. The rotisserie didn't seem to work well either. So back to the store this one went. I have no idea why someone can't make a reliable convection oven with a rotisserie that works well anymore and isn't as small as a toaster.

I have not used my oven a whole lot yet but what I have used it, I really like it. It is a great little oven. The only complaint I have so far is that in the book it said that it would broil fish in about 15 minutes and it took a lot longer than that. But over all I would sat it is a great little oven. It is nice not having to heat my big oven for small things.
