When this arrived in the mail I was so excited. We have a 120lb dog with long curly fur and was ready to get rid of it from my carpet! It was pretty much assembled when we took it out of the box. It also came with tons of attachments for carpet and car, also carpet cleaner (a great plus!). When I first used it I had expected it to be some miracle machine and the entire canister would of been full within the first 5 swipes... turns out it wasn't that miraculous. But the more I use it, the more I can see it picks up.
I did the test of using my old vac. first and then the dyson, it DOES make a difference. I am completely satisfied with this product and I can tell my house is a lot cleaner. It is incredible for stairs, and will be using the car attachment soon. The only complaint I do have is the front sweep on the front works great for carpets but not so much for hard floors, but the hand-wand makes up for it.
Some reviews say it becomes too loud, but I don't have any complaints and neither does my dog.
This is a great product and I would purchase it again. It is a bit expensive but has worked better than any vac. i've ever purchased before. My husband doesn't clean usually and he was even excited about our purchase.

Best vaccum I have ever owned. Ease of use and great suction power. Will never buy any other kind if and when it comes time to replace the one I have now. Have had mine over 7 years and it is still just as good as when I first bought it. It is expensive but worth every cent!

I recently purchased this Dyson vacume and I love it you should see all the dirt it picked up! I got this vacume to replace a very expensive Oreck which I have only had a couple years and it stopped sucking good. I really didn't want a vacume with a canister cause I think they are dirty I liked the bags better but the dyson canister opens at the bottom so no tipping just push the button and ta-da! it opens at the bottom lots less mess.

At first I was a little dissapointed. I didnt seem to have the power I expected. Till I relized I didnt have the cleanout access snapped tight. So make sure everyhting is latched tight. The only other thing I am not sure on is how loud it is. I wasnt expecting how loud it was going to be but I guess you gotta expect that with how powerful the motor is.

I really like my new vacuum. I have only used it a few times but it sucked up stuff that my old vacuum did not. My husband used it for the first time yesterday and he was way impressed. LOVE this vacuum!!! I am the type of person that vacuums ALL the time and couldn't wait to get my new vacuum and try it out. I was totally shocked at all the stuff it picked up off my carpet being that I do vacuum my house so much having pets in my home. This picked up more dog and cat hair then I even knew was there! How embarrassing!! It even gives my carpets the newly shampooed look and has really brought back the spring and fullness too. I was a little concerned about spending so much on a vacuum, but well worth the price so far!!

Love this vacuum! We have a cat and a dog, 2 kids. I bought one for our main level (which is carpeted) and one year later I bought another one for our lower level (all tile). These vacuums really have great power and suck up all that pet hair!! They are easy to maneuver and empltying the cannister is a breese. The Dysons replaced our old Eureka cannister (blaugh) and our Hoover upright. I'll never buy anything else...

We have 4 indoor animals so I felt this may be the vacumn I needed. The day it came it was very easy to set up. I vacumned the first time and it definatly picked up hair, but where I was really impressed was the dirt. I vacumned 3 times and every time the canister had an unbelievable amount of dirt in it. We paid quite a bit more for our last vacumn and the Dyson is putting it to shame. I am very happy with my purchase!

Got the DC14 for my wife for Christmas (I know, I'm romantic like that). My goodness that box is heavy. Hard to wrap too.
Assembly wasn't exactly intuitive, but we managed. Got it working, turned it on, and sucked up a Jack Russel and the living-room curtain before we brought it under control. Seriously, this thing has some major mojo. Almost too much (I can't believe I said that). The DC14 was literally yanking cords out of our woven rugs.
Has lots of toys and other features we'll probably never use, and a nice long cord. So all good. This vacuum parties like a rock star. Just be careful!
No word on the "never loses suction thing" though. Only used it a few times. But even if it lost half its suction, it would still outsuck (I'm sure that's not really a word) any of the "regular" brands.
BTW....the Jack Russel is still salty about the whole thing!

I have seen dyson's used before my parents have one and I was looking for a vacuum that picked up dog hair (lots and lots of it, we have 2 large dogs and 1 small in the house full time) I just couldn't decide what vacuum to get. Am I ever so happy I got the Dyson Animal. The first time we used it it picked up what seemed like a whole dog in hair. It worked great. Our carpet looks like new again and I no longer feel bad about having 3 dogs in the house and expecting a baby in April I knew I wanted a good vacuum. Well worth the money spend. My only complaint is I won't have to vacuum nearly as much as I used to (and now I like to with my dyson) because the dyson gets all the hair up the first time. Wonderful vacuum!

OK, I was a little sceptical about the reviews on this vac. I was dead wrong! This is definitely a case of you get what you pay for. Way better than I expected. Just did 4 rooms, worked like a charm (3 dogs so it was 'hairy'). Not only does it pick up everything but it is so doggone light weight.

I've had my vacuum for about two weeks now and each time I use it it continues to impress me. I'm so embarrassed at clearly how dirty my carpets were left from my old upright. I will admit to it being a good bit heavier then I expected but that's an easy thing to ignore once you realize how well it cleans. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who's ready to make a small investment on the health of their family. (It really does get that much dust from a carpet that you thought looked clean)

We have lots of pets, and we spent the extra for the vacuum for that reason. It does great on the carpets. However, the on board tools, are bulky and tricky to use. I love the Turbo Head for furniture, and even our bed, pet beds etc. I also have a small 6 gallon shop vacuum. Because the shop vac and Dyson have a 1 1/4" hose/ accessories, I use the Turbo head and other accessories, on my shop vac, which saves the filter on the Dyson, as well as is easier to use than on board tools wand.

Ok, so you're thinking do i really want to spend this much money for a vacuum? The answer is "Yes!" I had vacuumed a week before I got the Dyson, and I couldn't believe how much dirt was left behind. My carpets felt brand new to the touch of my bare feet. I had to empty the canister after only ONE vacuum, it was full. The best part is the 17 ft. hose, I can keep the base on one level and do all my stairs with ease. I have told everyone I know to go out and buy one. I have even volunteered my new Dyson to clean the carpets of friends and family to try it out before spending a ton of money. The bottom line is: "IT ROCKS!!!!!!"

Great product - I was gun shy because of price, but has been well worth the money. I would not consider getting rid of, its amazing how much pet hair it pulls up from carpeting and furniture. - If you do alot of cleaning for your stairs / or would use the "hose' option alot, might not be right for you. The hose come from the handle and has difficult movement, very straight & stiff", has great suction but cumbersome.

All things considered (two massive Greyhounds) and a small house this vac does a great job. I have had the Dyson for a year now and I love it. I bought it because we have a German Shepherd and does she shed. I vacuum probably every day if not every other day. My dyson does the job and then some. When the inside piece gets dirty with the hair I take it outside and blow it out with my husband's air compressor and wow that does the job I also blow out the filter and wash the one that can be washed. It hasn't lost the suction yet and I don't feel it will. It does the same job it did when I first bought it. I tell everyone I know to buy this vacuum because it is worth the price. I hope this helps others to decide on this product. You won't be sorry.
