The Bell Classic Child Carrier is meant for the convenience of bicycle riders who wish to take their child along with them. If you are taking a trip to the park or to the next block, then you can simply fix this kids bike seat securely onto your bikes rear tail. It is meant for adults bikes that do not have rear suspension and can carry a child weighing up to 40 pounds. This bicycle child carrier has a comfortable bucket style seat that is padded for extra comfort. It also has foot rests and a 5-point harness system, which keeps your child safe.
I took this seat back before I even tried to install it on my bike. I didnt like that the seat only came up to my granddaughter's shoulders and i didnt care for the flimsy look of the protective cover under the seat. I was mainly looking for a seat that can be easily removed for childless bike rides and didnt consider that when i made this purchase. the seat is pretty sturdy and looks nice (except that flimsy protective cover) but it just wasnt what i was looking for in a seat. i think it would work just fine for leisure bike rides around the neighborhood and the price is perfect for that very reason.

The photo of it installed in the item description is completely incorrect as far as the straps are oriented. Don't install so it looks like the picture on the website, pay attention to the included instructions instead.
It wasn't difficult to install, per say.. but it was a bit of a pain. Would have been easier if I had another set of hands.
The bolt to connect to the seat was too large to thread through the hole, but I was able to use the one my bike came with without the problems that others have mentioned. Works fine for my heavy but short 20 month old daughter.

This is a well made sturdy carrier at a great price BUT it does not fit on to any bike at our home except one Schwinn mountain bike. It does not fit on any of our cruisers. Maybe with some modifications but that is if you can or want to deal with that. I am excited we can take our grandson on biking trips but wish it would have fit a bike I ride.

"Surely, all the poor reviews were just a fluke and I would have no issues," I thought. I was wrong. No matter how hard we tried, this seat would not fit my bike. We finally pried it on, only to discover the feet rest pushed down the rear brakes. I don't understand why a company would make a product that doesn't fit current model bikes. Thankfully, Walmart returned without a hassle, but I wouldn't recommend this seat. Although affordable, it was a flimsy shell that wouldn't fit my bike... or most current bikes for that matter.

I was a little skeptical because of some of the reviews, but my husband was able to install this in 30 mins and my son loves it. It's sturdy and comfortable for him. (He is 15 months old, 23 pounds). I recommend this item.

I have an adult trike and it's hard to find accessories that will fit but this child seat was so easy to adapt it worked out perfectly. I had to fabricate a couple simple mounting pieces but that took only a couple minutes and it was up and rolling. I'm a happy guy.

Review 8 for Bell Classic Child Carrier
Nice for a small child

I like most everything about this seat. I bought it for my 12 mo old. She is tiny for her age at only 19lbs and I'm wondering how long she'll be able to use it as it seems there is little room for her to grow. I like the chest straps and installation was of average ease. We weren't able to use the hand bar as it was too close to my seat and rubbed into my back. It does a good job, I was just hoping for something to accomodate her until she rides independently.

Great Classic, WAY too difficult to install!

This seat is nice. The seat itself is comfortable for my child and perfect size. However, installation is nearly impossible for one person to do. It isn't complicated, but they used standard and metric bolts for one screw and nut. Finding the right sized wrenches wasn't easy. We had to drill out the clasp on the bike in order for the screw to work. Then, after all is assembled, it doesn't fit a womens or mountain bike. Your heals hit the bottom of the foot slots and it doesn't feel good.
I would pass this up and get a trailer for the children instead. This just isn't user friendly at all.

Review 10 for Bell Classic Child Carrier
My baby loves it!

I bought the seat a few weeks ago and had a chance to use it about five times. My baby likes it very much and I like it too. It's small and light, so it doesn't feel like you dragging extra 50 pounds behind you. One think I didn't like and that was the instruction manual. I thought I'll put the seat together myself, so I don't have to bother my busy husband:), but just couldn't figure it out. They don't show everything there and after half hour of trying I gave it up and waited for my husband to come home. He is very handy, so he new what to do, but still it took him longer than you would think. He had to do a few adjustments for the seat to work with my bike. After all... I am very happy with my purchase. The seat is comfortable, small, seems safe and if you have someone handy around, you don't have to worry about anything:))

Pros: works perfectly on my Huffy Cranbrook Cruiser.
Cons: took over an hour to assemble, the directions weren't as detailed as they should be, and it didn't work on my husband's mountain bike (we would have had to buy a different clamp I think).
Overall, happy with the purchase considering it was a great price on sale.

Adjustable Bike seat? - Worked great on mine.

I have an adjustable bike seat and at first, I was thinking like so many others, that it wouldn't fit my bike (because the bolt that comes with the carrier wouldn't fit through the hole on my bike#. However, I read someones review that helped me figure out that Yes, it would work for my bike with an adjustable seat. The bolt that comes with the carrier would not fit through the hole below my seat - however, I just used the same bolt that was originally on my bike. Works perfectly fine. I paid $38 at my local walmart and I definitely think it's worth the money! It did take me quite a while to assemble - I'm fairly handy and still got confused a few times throughout the process. Overall it was easy to assemble, it just took a while #about 1 1/2 hours#. Directions are so-so - not the greatest directions I've ever read, but I got through it. The plastic feet protecters are a great addition to help protect your child. Others stated that they felt the carrier and bike seat were too close, I don't feel that way at all, but that may just depend on your bike #mine is a Mongoose Mountain Bike) My 15month old loves riding the bike with daddy and daddy is having fun as well!

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME

My poor husband spent an hour putting this very cheaply made seat together only to find that it wouldnt fit on the new bike we had just bought me for Mothers Day. It is NOT easy to assemble but that is not the main problem with it. After doing some research, I found that the company states this carrier does NOT work for any bike made past 1997 so it is quite outdated. SO WHY is it sold in the store if it is that outdated and WHY doesnt it state this on the box?? :( I returned this immediately back and got a refund.

For the price it's a bit flimsy. It does the job & keeps him safe but it's not worth the price. There is a lining that goes around it to cover up bike but the material was too big it did not fit. It was plastic, so I just tossed it. The instructions were so confusing & had difficulty putting it together. The screws that came w/ it did not fit so husband had to use his own & be creative. Extremely time consuming to put it together, bought it because I needed it, but would not reccommend it.

It is a great product. However it didn't fit my bike - my bike doesn't have a bolt to raise the seat up and down - it has one of those flip out things. So I had to "fix" it to make it work (using a tie for a chain link fence) but it works just great. My little boy absolutely loves it. It does take a block or two to figure out how to keep your balance..but totally worth it!
