look for another product,will have problems to set it up.

Been working great for 2 months! Love it!

The docs/install program does not tell you that the installation with a DSL modem requires a few tweaking of the prameters to get it to work. I called Linksys an was led through the installation for DSL. It all work great now. Make sure that the Linksys help desk helps you with the configuration of a secure network.

After spending hours reading reviews on routers...I was skeptical about this one from the reviews from walmart. However everywhere else it had pretty good reviews. It seemed people with Vista got hung up on step 4. I bought this today came home and set up took me less than 5 minutes....until i got to step 4 (make sure you have an ethernet cord already...i was glad I did the one that comes with it has to connect from computer to linksys so you need one to connect to wall and linksys) Anyways when I got to step 4 it kept saying the router was not found. Vista popped up a little window asking me to set my new connection. I did this and then brought up internet explorer. The internet worked so I exited out of installation.

I still wanted to secure my network and get everything set up for my laptop. I didn't feel like calling so I went to the linksys support page. Here they had live chat so I clicked like chat and told the expert my problem. He immediately helped me out and i didn't have to worry about trying to understand what he was saying or paying anything to have it fixed. He told me exactly what to do and within three minutes I was good to go. Laptop working and all. I read the reviews where people were on the phone for 20 minutes to an hour trying to get it to work and paying money for tech support. Seriously don't do this! Just go to the online chat support and they can help you get it done immediately. I also saw several reviews recommending a netgear router. Sure its fast but look at the reviews on Amazon. Almost three hundred some did give 5 star reviews but almost three hundred some gave 1 star review and talked about how it shuts down all the time. Ive been using my linksys only one day of course but have had not a single connection issue with pc or laptop. My friend has the exact same one and has not once had a problem with connecting. I love the linksys and Im glad I didn't get scared away by reviews! Talk to tech support if you have an issue before you waste time taking it back....they were wonderful and very helpful in such a short time!

When I received this product, I followed the step by step instructions that were on the installation disk, but it wouldn't recognize any kind of connection. I had to call Linksys customer service. First off, the service agent i was connected with couldn't understand much of what I said and there was a problem with the warranty...it had run out. I explained how I had just purchased and received it from walmart that day. She had to talk to her supervisor..long story short they got one reinstated. After a 3 hour phone call of not being understood and non-successful attempts to set up the router, I was told to call my ISP. I did this, but had to call Linksys back. I was connected with someone who understood me. I was walked through going onto the Linksys site, entering alot of things, and going through alot on the site..passwords, entering certain things, pages, things I would NEVER be able to do on my own because customer service had to instruct me on certain things to enter, etc........... until finally ....it was working. After at least 5 hours of customer service it was working...no thanks to the set up disk. So setting this product up was a painstaking hassle.

Though after finally getting it to work...i haven't had any problems with it. I was almost ready to send it back just from the problem with the warranty. I was told by Linksys support that there was supposed to be a warranty paper in the box, but there wasn't.

As far as product performance AFTER set-up, I have no complaints. I can receive the signal anywhere in my home.
Whereas going through the hassle of getting it to work was enough to make me wish I hadn't gotten it.

over all for the consumer that is not computer savvy it's plug and play ready but some of the programs that come with it are not that friendly to non-technical users and I would not recommend that they mess with the router defaults to much

This might be a good product if you don't choose any advanced settings.. I have a dedicated IP address and this unit loosing the setting.. often.. even if the power is never turned off.. the security seemed to work.. but... I can't be resetting the advanced setting once per week.. I am about to replace this one.. and it is only 4 months old.. but the problems are consistant.. so.. I won't be buying any other Linksys products for a while..

This router is VERY unreliable! We have to reset it several times a day by unplugging the power and plugging it back in. For normal in-home use, this may just be an annoyance. We have tried applying the upgraded firmware, which did not do the job. We wasted our money on this and will be looking for something different.
