26" Men's Kent GMC Denali Road Bike

26" Men's Kent GMC Denali Road Bike

A steal at this price, Kent's GMC Denali is an affordable road bike featuring components and quality usually only found on bicycles costing hundreds more. A lightweight aluminum frame, high-profile alloy wheels and a 21-speed drive train by the technicians at Shimano are just a few of the standouts in this fast-moving package.

Great bike for price, 09/14/2009
By Zeni, Mohnton, PA
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

You are not going to find a good road bike in this price range. And this bike is excellent. it is a little heavy for a rd bike, but I think its due to the tires. its much lighter than a mountain bike (experience) I put ove 100 miles on this bike and it still rides great. I definetley recomend this bike

Review 2 for 26" Men's Kent GMC Denali Road Bike

Solid Bike For The Price, 08/15/2009
By Cram1010
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

This is a solid starter road bike. It's very simple to assemble, but you should take it to a bike shop to have it tuned by a professional. The rear cassette on my bike was completely out of whack when I got the bike. It could barley shift gears. Once I took it to my local bike shop they got it working well for $20. I may swap out the cassette in future so the shifting is perfect, but for now it's okay. For $140 you may get some defective parts, but none of them are that expensive to replace or fix.

There have been a lot of complaints about flat tires and poor breaks. I have had no flat tires, and the tires are great. They are more akin to tires you will find on a Hybrid bike, but I like having the extra tread. The brakes are fine. My bike stops well. Again have them adjusted by a professional.

My only other disappointment with this bike is that it does not have quick release tires or brakes. It's not that big of a deal, but they would have been nice to have. For $140 I'm not complaining. I can always add those parts later on.

It's fast, fun, and looks great. I suggest taking off all of the stickers including the GMC logo on the front. The bike looks great without them. My local bike shop said for the price this was a very good bike. I would have given it five stars, but the defective cassette has knocked it down a peg.

Happy riding!

I use to race bikes (many years ago) and I hope that road bikes make a comeback. This is how it will happen. Walmart has made a great entry bike. I put 23cm tires on it, clipless pedals and I was ready to go. I have about 2000 miles on this bike and it is holding up well. Yeah, some component adjustments but all is well. This is a 1,000 dollar bike 15 years ago. Enjoy.

You have to see this bike in person to really appreciate the looks of it. Great paint scheme and seems to be a well made bike. I received it over the weekend and it was easy to assemble. I'm not too crazy about the gear shifters on the handlebars because it jumbles all the wires together upfront but that would be my only complaint. It seems to be an excellent bike for the money. However you do need to be a person of some height to ride this bike. I stand about 5'6 and the bike was just too much for me. Even with the seat slammed all the way down; I wasn't able to reach the bottom of the pedal motion safely. I would recommend you be at least 5'8 at a minimum. I ordered another bike from here and can only hope that it's as nice as this one. I'm just sorry it doesn't come in a size or 2 smaller.

Good bike for the money, 08/10/2009
By spokanebike, Spokane WA
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

Ordered through walmart.com site to store. Bike arrived exactly when walmart said it would. The shipping box was in excellent condition, and I was impressed with the way the bike was packed.

I put the bike together myself. After adjusting the geartrain and the brakes, adding a second water bottle cage, as well as a Schwinn computer (also from Walmart for only $9.99) and a mini pump, my bike is set.

The gears work fine, but do require adjusting. Do not try to change from 1st to 7th all at once or the chain may come off. One or two gears at a time and I have no problems.

The brakes work great for a road bike. They required a fair amount of adjustment, but they do work just fine. Remember, this is not a mountain bike with V-style brakes. It won't stop as fast.

The tires that came on my bike are 700x32c Kenda Kwest tires. They are too big for serious speed, but seem to be working just fine. I did need to true the wheels as well. They are rated for 85psi, but I run them at 100psi with no problems.

The seat is hard, but contoured well. I adjusted the position of the seat so that the nose was pointed slightly downward, and it is quite comfortable.

The bar wrap does come off pretty easily. I taped over the top with electrical tape, and it stays in place just fine.

Overall I like this bike quite a bit. It is faster than my older Bianchi 12 speed, and would be noticeably faster with 700x25c tires. I would recommend this bike.

Hi, I was able to purchase this bike at a walmart store, (don't know if it was returned from online purchase, but if it was I couldn't tell) and got it for $99.00. The bike looks fantastic, rode well for about 50 miles and then needed to be adjusted due to breaking in peroid. I'm new to biking, so I didn't want to go and spend much more than what I did until I knew I was going to ride more. I do plan on upgrading to a nicer bike next spring but until then this one will be just fine. Highly recomend this bike for beginners. I'm just glad that not everything low priced at walmart isn't low quality as well.

Made a Perfect Gift., 08/04/2009
By Shoptunistic, New York, NY
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

Had to make minor adjustments to grip shift, bike tube had a few issues as to be expected with any bike. A bike of this caliber usually costs a few hundreds, and for the price that walmart has it I would say it is exceptional and cant be found no where else. A good ride and made a perfect gift for my husband.

First impression after first ride, 07/26/2009
By NewRiderNplus1, Maple Valley
Overall Rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

Waited almost 3 weeks and finally received the bike from Walmart.com. The local store assembled the bike and I did a few adjustment myself, typical turn-up stuff.

Pro: relatively light, affordable price, saddle is comfortable than expected.
Con: cup holder is different than the picture - i got a rubber strip with button. The handle bar tape feels cheap and loose, fall apart after the first 20-mile ride. Two shifters take out the space on the handle bar and leave VERY little space for a bike computer. The breaks is not very responsive, almost ride myself into a river in a sharp turn. The wheels and front derailleur need to be adjust again after the first ride.
Even though there are more cons than pros, as a first time road bike buyer, I am OK with the purchase so far compare to spend twice of the $$ on a ten years old used bike.

Excellent Product, 07/26/2009

Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

This is a very good road bike. It really met my expectations and then some! Only problem I had was assembly...which was my fault I do not like reading directions, I find them boring. I did manage to put the bike together but I messed up on the front breaks and will have to take it to a bike shop to get them fixed. I do still recommend this bike for everybody who enjoys riding and is not rich enough to spend 500 or more on a bike of the same quality.

Shifter Issue, 07/25/2009
By Dmobile32
Overall Rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

I had this bike for less than a week before I returned it. I had made 3 trips to a local WalMart so a bike assemler could fix my bike. The chain would not shift into the higest gear unless I move it there by hand. After he fixed the bike, I took it for a ride the very next day. It was only 5 minutes before the chain completely fell off and got stucked in between the plastic protecting piece and the gear itself. I didn't want to take the risk by pulling it off and breaking the plastic piece. I decided to return the bike at this point since there were just too many gearing issues on this particular bike. It is a good bike for its price if the gears worked properly. The frame seemed solid, but it is heavier than my two other road bikes with that said.

Great Bike for Great Price, 07/24/2009
By NMN86
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

This bike has been a really great investment. It was a little tough to put it together, but I believe I did everything correctly and I have had no problems with it mechanically.

I have much praise for it for the price, and only 2 minor qualms: The handlebar area does not have any room for attachments like lights or such and the seat is extremely hard for a beginner. I had to get a seat cover for it.

All in all, I am extremely impressed by it and I hope to keep it for many years!

I was a little disappointed in the fact that this does not come with quick-release wheels or a quick-adjust seat.
The gears tend to slip when you really push it while climbing hills. So I will spend some more cash and upgrade this bike. Otherwise a good starter bike for the price.

Its a cheap bike and you get cheap components. But that is fine, cause for the money not thing out there comes close to performing as well as it did. It is pretty fast and is built very well. I highly recommend this bike for those who want to begin cycling, also use the site to store cause they will assemble it for you if you ask them. My bike was ready to ride in 20 minutes.

Good bike for the money, 07/13/2009
By HarryM123, Central Coast, CA
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

Overall happy with the bike, I did have a flat on the back tire at 40 miles. Opposite the stem hole the rim is butted together but this was not cleanly done and the edge inside sliced the tube. A quick pass of the dremel and some electrical tape fixed that. The brakes needed adjusting which was not explained in the documentation. The stem for the handlebars is way too short, I am 6 feet and with the seat at the right height the bars were back-cripplingly low, and you are forced to go into the drops to brake, ouch. I wound up flipping the bars and moving the brake levers accordingly, which meant unwrapping and rewrapping the bars. The front derailleur rubbed against the chain on biggest gear despite all attempts to adjust it. I finally wound up widening (gently) the derailleur, no more rubbing. The bike is finally where I want it and am happy with it now.

Bike is real good deal, 07/13/2009
By Barnkam, Oklahoma
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

I used to ride a lot and this looked like the best value to get going again. Got it about a month ago and been out on the road several times. It shifts real well, brakes probably need some additional adjusting but it is a good (starter) bike and best for the price range and super exercise. It rides real well and gets me up and down the hills cruising very nicely. They did a great job putting it together and the Ship To Store was fast and efficient. I'm very pleased overall.
