F33P Customer Support
Posted 04/18/2013
rRoc, Please contact support@norcrossmarine.com with any questions or issues concerning your F33P. I would be happy to help. Your F33P should work exactly as advertised.
I enjoy ice fishing and wanted a Fish Finder that could be used for both open water and ice fishing. I went with the Hawk Eye Portable Fish Finder for it's portability. I also liked it's affordability priced under $100.00.

Used it today for the first time. Worked great. Saw the bottom and fish. Didn't catch any though. Worked thru the bottom of my aluminum boat.

F33P Troubleshooting
Posted 04/25/2013
MisterX353, I regret I did not get a chance to work with you on the problem you had with your F33P . Most issues can be resolves with some simple troubleshooting. Please be sure to contact support @ norcrossmarine.com or call 1-888-766-7276 if you ever have any issues with one of our products. Regards, Patrick
I bought this equipment because it was a most affordable, compact and simplest available. I needed for kayaking and fishing from kayak. It does everything well that the manufacturer claims for and the Hawkeye does eventually more than you pay for. Pretty accurate and sensitive. Shows the depth, objects in the bottom of the water and really helps locate fish especially schools of fish. The monitor is easy to read, batteries last for a wile. Easy to setup however the setup cannot be saved. A bit annoying to setup every time you turn it on. The other two things may need improvements, the very long cable is a hassle, it's not necessary because a stupid idea to use the unit from the shore anyway. It works well from a boat only. I shortened the cord down to 5 feet, that's all you need for in boat use. The other thing is the missing mount option, not even a spot to install one. You can't handle a boat, fish and hold a fishfinder at the same time unless you are an octopus. It definitely needs some kind of mounting bracket, I really like the smart one on the sonar sensor. With these suggested improvements it would be a little killer on the low budget fish finder market.

I am VERY happy with this product. My only comment is the 30' cord is not as long as you would think FROM SHORE. However, from any kind of watercraft I would rate it 100% effective & easy to use. I bought his because I could not find a reputable source to buy the "wireless" version of a portable "fish finder." If there was some way this product could be produced so that you were not attached to a cord, it would be extremely advantageous to use from shore. For now I will have to come up with a watercraft for fishing small freshwater bodies.
DON'T GET ME WRONG - I love this product!

I got this to use on my kayak. I needed small , lite weight and easy to install. All I did was cut a pice of 2 inch pvs pipe about 2 inches long. I set it in the bottom of my kayak and put about 1/2 inch of silicon in tbe pipe. Then I pressed the sending unit down to the bottom. I then ran the cable up to the mount I made from a old gps holder I had. The Hawk Eye works good and is easy to read in the sun even with polorized sun glasses on. It runs on $ AAA batteries. I fished with it for 5 hours and it still shows good power. For the price a good deal.

I have used one of these for 3 years, recently the sensor stopped working and a new one costs $39.00 so I will be changing units.
That said, this little unit was very good for: Reading Depths Finding Schools Reading Bottom Type Crappie Fishing
If you want to locate single fish this is not the unit for you, but if you want to get a good feel for what is happening in the water around you while not spending tons of money, consider this unit.

I DO connected the wire, and there is the "click" sound on the transducer, but nothing detected, i.e. no depth, no bottom structure, no fish, just like not connected. I is worse than a toy.

The finder told me exactly when fish were in the area and when they were not. I'd recommend this to anyone to use. I followed the instructions and used it in at least 4 ft of water. I'm glad it worked out for me. I used it in a river.

Was looking for a small, portable and reasonably price unit to use when kayak or jon boat fishing in quiet waters. It's not for use when under way at hardly any speed. While I have not yet used it, this product appears to meet my needs and appears to be well made.

I took the HawkEye to a remote Canadian lake. I was able to map the isos and find out where the fish may be hiding. The extra is the indication of fish below you, but I did not focus on that. I was more interested in getting the lake mapped. Battery length is great. If you are looking for a finder that runs on flashlight batteries and not a 12v car / motorcycle battery, I'd try this.

Have used this product twice on a local lake and the depth finder works great. Even found several fish when using the product on an extension handle and scanning side to side under water from the boat. Works as expected and even caught a few fish! Depth finder is working properly as we were in about 16ft of water. Also it picks up weeds and rock piles.

Initially bought this product for the value. Could not get it to shoot through the hull as advertised. (.040 alumin.) Will not read depth if bottom is the least bit muddy or murky. I guess you get what you pay for! Will be returning it.

Unusable product

The Hawkeye Fish Finder was my first finder but I found it to be unusable. I took it out to Canyon Lake and found the cord which is connected to sensor was to heavy, and every time I threw it out, the cord would sink to the floor of the lake which inturn pulled sensor back to boat. Don't let the price of $58 fool you, save your money.

This is a pretty slick product. It has a couple of major drawback tho. All fish look the same and are displayed the same. whether it's looking at minnows or monsters is impossible to tell. Also it does not have a temperature component
The ability to side scan I find really valuable
I also wish it had to ability to shorten the cord. I only use about 10 feet and the rest gets in the way.
