Good little boat, 03/12/2010

I bought this to tide me over until I get a larger boat. I was looking for something just to get me away from shore and to places I couldn't reach from the bank. It has been good for that. It won't win any speed championships so if you are looking to move fast a kayak or canoe would be a better choice. It keeps you up and out of the water though, and can be used on light currents. I have taken it up the Guadalupe and Nueces river and it did pretty well. The storage pouches have a good amount of room and the platform can hold a decent sized cooler or big milk crate for storage.

One drawback is the oars. They make them adjustable but they end up sliding all the way to the handles and become akward. I fixed this by putting permanent stops on so the oars stay in one position. One other thing is to make sure the weight capacity is well above your weight. The capacity for this one is 275 lbs. I weigh 200 and with all my gear it sits a little lower in the water but still is plenty buoyant.

Review 2 for Cimarron Pontoon Boat

good little boat, 08/30/2009

I bought 2 of these one for me and one for my dad I did a lot of research before I got them and found a lot of mixed reviews weak spots in the welds of the frames of some and bad valves on the pontoons however the reviews that were good let me know that if I got good boats they would be very good since the price at walmart was so good on these boats and with thier return policies I figured it was a no brainer ok on to my review we had the boats out on a local lake only once so far the right pontoon on my boat has a slow leak after 4 hours it was softer then the left one I'm not sore if it is the valve or seepage through the seem I will call the toll free number and see what customer suport tells me and update my review thats the only thing that kept it from getting 5 stars as I have read on other reviews the oar stops are almost useless Im thinking a hose clamp behind them will fix this I fished along lilly pads iseing a floater and worms hopeing for anything to bite I found that even without a rod holder I could lay my pole on the frame beside the seat and leave the oars in the water and just apply preasure on the oars to keep me in one spot and strieght they advertise these boats as light and fast and they dont disappoint in that area once you get the hang of keeping the oars even this boat will move even without digging deep as I did I had to see just how fast I could get it which was much faster then a walking speed If you are considering getting this boat remember this is a basic boat NO bells or whistles but figureing out how to add rod holders, anchors, and what ever else you want is half the fun just remember 350 lbs is the limit look at all the welds on the frame as you unpack it if any look bad pack the boat back up and exchange it if you are a heavier person you may want to look at a boat with a higher capacity the cimarrons set low and too much weight and your feet will be dragging in the water all and all this is a good boat as long as you keep your expectations in check and know what you are buying

Review 4 for Cimarron Pontoon Boat

good for what it is, 02/15/2009

To inflate this thing I purchased the Coleman electric quickpump ($20). My biggest concern was over inflating or how much is too much? The quickpump worked fine inflating the boat with a bit of air leakage at the end that takes a quick hand to minimize. I still can't attach the front stripping apron, I left it off. The advice on the keel mentioned in the above review is a good idea, hope I can figure out the best way to do it. You do not want to take this boat out in windy weather if you are planning a round trip. For messing around in a rockpit/lake/canal it works. For more serious adventures I would look around at other possibilities.

Review 5 for Cimarron Pontoon Boat

cimarron pontoon boat, 07/27/2008

I wanted a boat to go fishing. It had to be easy to load and unload, hold my gear, and inexpensive. I went looking and found the Cimarron. It was easy to put together, no tools required. In about an hour, I was trying it out. There was a few issues with it, as I soon found out. If you can imagine sitting on a large plate in the water, and trying to row it in a straight line, almost impossible. So it needed a few minor adjustments. So I made a keel for it and now, it rows like a boat should. For a boat at that price, you can't beat it.
