Im am 42 yrs old i highly recomend using locally and for trips.I did get it for 128.88 on black friday.I think its 168.88 now.I love this item.

Great price. It gives me such comfort knowing that I will no longer get lost. You can manually store "favorite" addresses and the system also stores recent trips. You have 2 choices for your trip-the "fastest route" and the "shortest distance". After entering your address, try to see which one is better for you. If you miss your turn or go a different way, the unit will recalculate and get you back on track within a very short time. It even tells you what side of the road your destination is on. I leave it on all the time as it is helping me learn which direction I am traveling in and street names that I didnt know before.

I love this product...and recommend it to anyone who needs help finding places or gets lost or confused easy. I have no sense of direction. This product has given me a lot of freedom and peace of my mind. I no longer worry about how I will get somewhere...I know the Garmin will do it for me. There have been a few times when it did not reconize an address, but this is VERY seldom.

I moved to Texas Two and a Half years and I kept on getting lost. I couldn't keep an appointment . Its hard to Google Directions and try to read them while driving so I said no more. I went online and bought one it was the latest and most modern and a bit expensive at the time I Purchased It But Well Worth It. Trust me If you think asking for directions or trying to find look for a place it pays to Buy One I Recommend It you'll wind up saving money on the long run.

Mechanically this devise works very well, and the screen is easy to read. However, the maps are seriously outdated. It did not have listed any of the 6 restaurants or 3 gas stations located at a major intersection of U.S. 90 and Interstate 10 - about four miles from my house. Some of these businesses have been there for at least 10 years. Instead, it tried to send me to a gas station about 12 miles away.

I purchased one of these at a WalMart in Tuscaloosa a few months ago. Mine cost $315.00. During its usage, I have found that the maps are NOT adequate or up to date. The only thing this is good for, is if you are planning on going to MAJOR cities in the US. The maps in this device are a minimum of four years old as of July 2007. I highly recommend printing out your maps on Google or Mapquest and NOT solely relying on this product for adequate guidance. Garmin will charge you $100.00 to update this product and personally I would not pay it. I bought this product to replace a Microsoft Streets and Trips 2007 that I purchased and the GPS locator on that device went bad just outside of two months of owning it. Save yourself the time, money, and hassel. The next one I buy is going to be a tomtom. My girlfriend has one and loves it.

As with all tech products (computers, digital camersa) the price goes down as the tech developments go up. This unit probably has an earlier generation chip and therefore is now selling at a lower price. You cannot go wrong with Garmin, one of the leaders in the GPSindustry. In fact, this is the exact same model that is used by one of the big rental car outfits. More importantly, this unit worked exactly as promised right out of the box! You don't need any tech experience and the instruction manual is only 6 pages long. I'm very pleased with this unit and would highly reccomend it. Of course the great price I got from Wal-Mart made it even sweeter.

I thought this would be a great purchase. Maybe I expected to much? I began by looking for local stores, post office, pharmacy etc. To my dismay none of them were on the Garmin. The Walmart I purchased the Garmin from wasn't even listed. It showed the nearest Walmart as being 12 miles away. Mine is 2 miles away. My post office is 1 mile from me and the Garmin showed the nearest one as being 15 miles from me. I looked on line and discovered that I will have to pay an additional $70.00 to get an update..Not very happy with this product.

My brother highly recommended the Garmin GPS. He's had one for a couple years and prefers it over the On-Star that came with his vehicle. So we finally bought this model and it is all that he said it would be and more. While on a trip, we missed a turn (our fault, not the Garmin's). It got us back on route without our having to do anything. It was a real lifesaver on our first trip to PA. Without it we would have been totally lost.

Bought this while traveling, our laptop battery died and we needed directions to our hotel. It's so easy to use - we simply took it out of the box, plugged it in and went! I'm totally lost without specific directions and a map normally, so this has relieved a huge amount of stress for me when I go somewhere new - all I have to do is type in where I want to go and "she" tells me how to get there. My husband also loves the tripometer, he likes to watch what his speeds are, total times, etc. So in summary, love this device! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it's not completely up-to-date on roads in my area, but then I also live somewhere with a lot of new development so take that with a grain of salt.

I just unpacked my new gps and am really impressed. I thought I would be reading pamphlets all evening to try and figure this thing out but NO! If fact it only comes with the suction holder, the plug and a usb cable and disc. To get the actual manual you to have to go to the website which is a bit odd but I don't think you will really need it. It is very user friendly and I can't wait to try it out on the road! After getting lost in the mountains in the middle of the night ... this is a godsend.

Not a very good product to rely on in Georgia. The signal strength is very poor. I was traveling North on a familiar highway and the system re-calculated my route 4 times in 2 minutes, and it read I was traveling Southeast at 116mph. Could be the gps itself and not the model. I'm returning the item for a new one or a refund. Depends on the associates knowledge of return history.

I usually print of instructions of how to get from place to place from online navigation sources and still somehow get off track or lost. I purchased this on a recent trip after circling for 30 minutes around an area that just happen to have a Wal-mart. Even if i decide to take a different route, it recalculates the trip for me. I am so in love with this new fangled gadget i might marry it. I even use it to drive to work or when shopping in my local town just to look at what might be located nearby that i haven't noticed before or just to estimate my arrival time, which is another great feature of this particular garmin. I don't think i could live without it now that i've got it. It is not only a necessity but it is so much fun. My 11 year old has mastered it already in just a week. She also loves searching for addresses and learning about the streets around us. I wish I could buy one of these for all of my friends and family for christmas because this would absolutely be the best gift to receive for Christmas. Merry Christmas and God Bless!

I got this a couple of years ago when GPS were sky high pricewise. Paid over $600 with the extended warranty. This unit works right out of the box! I just put it up and plugged it in. I like the many features to get me where I need to go. As a pastor, I do alot of visiting and it is really good to find new members and or visitors. The one drawback is that it seems to take you the long way there at times. You can control some of this by deciding if you want speed or distance to be the determining factor. I like the automatic rerouting and that it remembers places you have been so all you have to do is scroll till you find it. Of course my favorite button is the "take me home" button. Just knowing it's there, takes a great deal of anxiety away for risking driving where I have never been for I know if all else fails, I can make my way home with this GPS' help. I did have my first unit go "wacky" on me as it didn't want to function normally so I took it back and got another. That's been 9mo back and it's still working perfectly. You can't beat this unit for the money ($128 on sale)! WOW! The one thing negative I will say is that they need to make the suction cup function better. Darn thing kept falling off no matter what I tried. I finally decided to buy the dash mount (Three weighted feet keep it in place nicely). I also bought a cowel cover to sheild the screen from glare and bought the screen protectors as well. This still didn't take care of the problem to my liking so I got some black padding that is used in tool drawers to keep wrenches from sliding around, and cut it so I could "wrap" it double layered around the unit. Now I can see it anytime without any glare getting to the screen at all and it sort of makes me look like a police officer's vehicle! LOL I was going to get one of these for my son who is also directionally challenged but I see they have run out. I can see why at this price!
