I live in an area that while definitely not the "big city" can't really be called a small town either. This area is notorious for power surges. My husband repairs computers for our friends and replaced the power supply on one person's computer 6 times in one year. I feel much safer knowing that I not only have a great surge protector but also that there's enough battery time to back-up and save anything should the power go out. This is the most affordable back-up battery system I found on the net and it's worked very well for my computer. We had a sudden thunderstorm a couple weeks back and after the power went out, I was still able to shut my computer down without doing any damage to it. I'm very happy with this product and have recommended to many of the people that I work with.

Still waiting for adaptor,

I received my product about 10 days ago. However, I didn't know any battery back up required a connection to my computer tower. I've had APC and Belkin previously. One just plugs those in and plugs in the computer power supply to it. This one requires a direction connection to my tower. A serial port came with it. My computer only has USB ports. Serial ports do not come on new computers from Dell. (Probably other brands as well.)So I had to order an adapter that goes from the serial port to a USB which can then plug into my computer. Until it arrives, I cannot use my battery pac. At this point in time, I have no idea how it works or if I would recommend it. I don't know what to say. Other than I wish Wal-Mart had said in the product description that it requires plugging directly into your computer tower & only has serial port connections. Then I would have ordered a different one. I think this is likely an older model, since USB isn't with it. I still hope it will do the job. But I can't rate it in any form or fashion yet. So Sorry! P S. I couldn't submit my review without choosing an option of recommend or not recommend & Overall satisfaction, both of which I wanted to leave blank. I cannot recommend or say I'm satisfied until I actually use the thing. I had to click "no" on both counts. That does not mean it is a bad product. It just means I will not recommend something I know nothing at all about.

wouldn't work using generator power,

After I had a power outage, I switched to a generator but the battery backup wouldn't recognize generator power as "AC" so had to disconnect and reconnect everything to a standard surge protector so I could have use of my pc +.

the UPS I got didn't work at all. At first I thought maybe it just needed to charge, but after 6 weeks it still didn't hold a charge. Power went out for a few seconds and UPS immediately died with only a 19" LCD and regular PC connected to it. Returning unit to walmart tomorrow, shame they don't carry product instore because I would really like to exchange it for a working model.

This is my second one. The other has been on my desktop 3 years +. We have power outages and surges galore where I live but I have never had a pc problem with this. I used to go through a lot of surge protectors. This is far and away better. You have battery back up if the power goes off and this outlasts any surge protector. This is a good product and I do not hesitate to recommend it.

I bought this product for my two teenage nieces. It didnot have the appropriate connection adaptor for a new Windows Vista processor. I mailed in a coupon with $3.00 check to purchase the connecting device that had USB cable (which was needed). The USB cable was only 3 inches long and far too short to reach from their computer to the battery pack. I returned the Cyberpower back to Wal-mart and received a full refund. However, I'm stuck with the ridiculously short connecting cable.

I think that this product is a good product but I find that it should of came with the SERIAL TO USB converter for computers that DO NOT have a serial port on their computer. that is the only thing that did NOT come with this UPS system just the battery itself and the power hook up. I find that very upsetting that I have to mail off and wait almost 3 weeks before I can get that part so that I can hook it up to my machine so that I can use the software with this UPS system. Overall.. I have sent off for that SERIAL TO USB converter part and I am just waiting for that to come in I would say that its a good UPS.. The power has went off at least a couple times since I have sent off for that part and It kept my computer stuff going and no disruption at all. Only real problem is that you cant disable the beeping sound when it is on battery mode unless its hooked up with that SERIAL TO USB converter and you have the software installed on your computer to disable it. Over all I would say very well.. But I think CYBERPOWER INC needs to include everything with their products.

This is the 2nd one I've gotten and they work very well. They say you have to plug into a outlet that has a Circuit Braker, but you do not have to, a regular one works fine.

This product was received in a timely manner, but on preparing to use discovered the monitoring cord was not compatible with the computer, i.e., I had to order, and pay $3.00 for, an adapter cord that was USB compatible. After several weeks delay in receiving the cord, I finished installing the monitoring cord and then installed the associated software management program. Immediately after installing the software the computer locked-up. Subsequently, I did manage to resolve the problem with professional help. I have not attempted to re-install the CyberPower management program and will not attempt again.

Good UPS unit. I purchased 2, 1 being a spare. I've used the product before and was satisfied. When you run up to 6 computers at one time, you want to have a backup you can rely on if and when the power goes out.

This is ideal for the typical home computer user. It allows you time to shut down properly if the power fails. A must have for those days when the power just blinks off for a couple of seconds. Very good protection from lightning and power brown-outs.
