Unit quit after 10 days, returned for refund.
Timer features on the control aren't useful
Temperature and humidity readout on control is a good feature
Fan running all the time is a bad feature.
With the drain hose hooked up, some of the water still drains into the drain pan, causes the humidity reading to be high, and would likely produce mildew, besides having to empty the pan.

Purchased this unit at Danbury CT Walmart in August 2006 for $178. Unit Ran well and did a great job until July 2008. First Compressor started to make noise and shortly there after the fan started making noise and stopped working in November 2008. Since unit was out of 1 year warranty for the fan I took it apart to replace the fan motor in march 2009. Not only was the motor bad but the blower wheel was broken and also needed to be replaced. While working on unit to determine if motor was getting power I also found that the compressor was making a lot of noise and running very hot. It would not cool the coils to remove moisture from the air. The compresser would also have to be replaced. Haier only has a 5 year warranty on the compressor but not on labor or any other parts. I would not recommend this product if you expect to keep it longer than 2 years.

The best features on this unit are light weight and a superior blower to other models I have used. I don't think the compressor is quite as powerful as the kenmore model I replaced, but this one has a better warranty, so I am hoping it will hold up better than the sears unit, which I have read many complaints about. On the "high" setting, the fan in this unit is capable of improving the airflow and humidity in a large basement. It made the air smell better almost immediately.

I unboxed this product and there was a crack in the machine's exterior plastic. I love the water container's handle. This makes it easier to carry. However the machine's fan stayes on continuallly without shutting off. It runs forever folks! The machine is quieter than its other counterparts made by the same comany. Overall quality is fine I just happened to be unlucky and get a cracked one. This didn't stop the machine from working well. Just cosmetic. I just didn;t like the idea that it ran constantly (Fan only. Compressor turns on and off). The machine did come with many features that others do not. Walmart has done well with the order ship to store free idea, and as allways a wonderful return policy and price. I will need to return the product.

Product didn't work and always went to defrost cycle after running for a few minutes. Perhaps it is just a problem with this specific dehumidifier and doesn't happen with all. It is also quite noisy and the fan will keep running even when it reaches the desired level of humidity. I sent it back and went with my old dehumidifier brand that has an automatic sensor that shuts off.
