I bought this machine for my daughter as a birthday gift. She expressed interest since the growing size of her family and how much bread they go through in a weeks time. She loves how much easier bread making is and says it is a time saver. So any time you can save $ and time makes it an excellent purchase.

End of My Search The Winner!,

This purchase of the Sunbeam 5891 ended my 12-year search for a Bread Machine, and I am satisfied! I cook well but have always shied away from baking of any kind, because I feared precision measuring. Four weeks ago after reviewing many popular Bread Machines and their prices, I decided on two machines the Sunbeam and the Oster. The Sunbeam was on sale at Wal-Mart, my favorite retailer so therefore it was there I acquired my machine. It stood unpacked for 24 hours until I just got up and decided to make French bread; it turned out delicious I used the “light” crust setting.
Today I am the veteran of five loaves several French, Dill Rye, and finally White, I will never buy bread again. The machine comes with a non-stick bread pan and paddle (metal), the instruction book with recipe guide, and accessories. I recommend it to everyone.

This product was a gift for my birthday last November. I was really excited because my prior breadmaker of 11 years was on it's last leg. We make bread almost everyday and sometimes twice. We actually mainly used it for dough making and baked the bread in the oven. It worked great for the first few months, but then the paddle became harder and harder to remove and the seal around it began to leak. Now, only 10 months later the seal is completely broken, the paddle does not come off and it leaks too much to be used. After reading a few of the other reviews this seems to be a common problem. With only slight use the person would never encounter this problem or only after the one year warranty has expired. If you intend on buying for regular use you will want to invest in a higher quality product.

We purchased a Sunbeam breadmaker from the store. There was a defect in the way the inner pan was made. It would collect flour and other matter. We returned the Sunbeam to the store and ordered a like Sunbeam online. We waited for it to arrive at our local store. When we had the clerk open the box so we could look at the product, and found the same way it is constructed. We immedatly returned the product before leaving the store. We are dissapointed that we could not buy a good product.

Purchased this bread maker 3wks ago to replace a 1 1/2 lb West Bend that was 15yrs old. I've made many different doughs and breads in the old one, so knew what I needed. After reading many reviews for various machines, decided this was the bread maker for our family. So far have only made white, french and oatmeal with no problems. Love 2lb size-my kids eat a lot. Just watch the amount of yeast and liquid put in, play with the recipe a little. Have a little patience and fun making different loaves until you get the perfect bread consistently. My family has not complained that I need to make test loaves for awhile, since the recipes are a little different.

Incredible Bread Machine,

Buying bread in the store was getting expensive and the bread never arrived home in its original shape, so I decided to buy a bread machine. This machine looked like a good buy, and it was. It has a menu of different settings for different types of breads as well as for backing a cake or making preserves to put on the bread, I simply add the ingedients, select the type of bread, and the size of the loaf and turn it on. No mess, and the bread drops right out of the stick-free pan.
The book comes with recipes for each type of setting. I would recommend replacing milk for water in the recipes, but the recipes are a good place to start.

I have three other bread makers of various makes. This is my first Sunbeam. I use this model (and the others) to make just one type of bread: 2lb loaves of Honey Oatmeal. I have not tried any other recipes with this machine nor do I use the express cycle - good bread can't be hurried.
That being said, here's my observations:
Pros: 1. Makes a very nicely shaped loaf and is very consistent loaf after loaf. 2. Texture and flavor are excellent. 3. The loaves are pleasently moist inside not dry and crisp (if the baking cycle is shortened).
Cons: 1. The loaf slices are too high for our toasters. We get around this by reversing the slices half way through the toaster cycle. Maybe the 1 1/2 lb loaf would be better. 2. I have to stop the baking cycle when 20 minutes are left on the timer in order to produce a light brown crust plus have the bread cooked but still moist on the inside. If I let the cycle complete, the inside will be dry and the crust will be dark and hard even though I select light crust. This same problem exists with my other machines. Apparently the designers like hard crust and dry bread.
Except for the length of the baking cycle, I am very pleased with it and have no problem recommending this bread maker. I would love to find a machine with a programmable bake cycle, however.

This product is a great value for the money and comes with easy to follow step-by-step directions. I make homemade whole-wheat pizza dough on a weekly basis and it comes out FANTASTIC!
The only downside to this product is that it is a little bulky, but that is the ONLY semi-downside to this wonderful product.

I had a breadman brand bread machine before it broke down. The bread made by breadman had a better result than by sunbeam. The sunbeam machine doesn't seem to knead the bread as powerful and as long as the breadman machine. However, with the price considerably lower than buying another breadman, I can live with less quality but still edible bread.
