My boyfriend and I saw almost a replica of this item inside a Crate & Barrel magazine.. we immediately fell in love with it but could not justify the $700.00 price tag. I had moved on to a white desk that I spotted at Wal Mart for just $129 and both, my boyfriend and I, agreed it would do... but when searching for the white desk online, I ran across this bookshelf desk and immediately started jumping with glee!! at a quarter of a price was my Crate & Barrell wanna-be shelf! Getting it was even more exciting and we had it up by the end of the night! I used my own wood glue as others had recommended and found these shelves to be extremely sturdy (didn't realize wood glue expanded so there is a little bit of white on some of the edges where it was glued, but the books cover it up nicely). All in all, it fits perfectly in our little home, with all of our furniture and where I used to cram everything onto one shelf and have no space on my tiny desk for the computer, its accessories and the printer, I can fit everything all in one place and I still have room for more! It's gorgeous and I can't think of a better purchase I could have made and especially for the price and quality!

I read all the reviews and decided to give this shelf set a try. It looks fantastic in my home office! I kept two of the shelves together, and am planning to put my printer on the "desk" shelf. The other is on an opposite wall, and it really ties the room together.
Great shelf, the wood is good quality (not particle board). Assembly was simple, went faster using a cordless drill with a screwdriver bit. Very pleased.

I was thrilled with these shelves. They were exactly what I was looking for to use with my laptop and they look much more expensive than they are. Easy to put together. Can be accomplished with one person but faster & easier with two people. The only thing I would suggest is to pick up a small bottle of glue because they do not give you enough.

Quite nice system for the price. There are actually three sections. However, we did have a bit of trouble assembling, the "T" nuts kept breaking and of course we didn't have any spares. (Do not over tighten) I called the manufacturer and explained my issue. They immediately sent out more than enough replacements and all was completed. Overall, very happy!

This desk is exactly what I was looking for. It's a good size, very nice for decorative purposes. Spans a good portion of the wall, desk is a good height for my children. If you've got a laptop, it's perfect - but not for a pc, unless it's a flat panel. Super easy to assemble, I did it alone, (unless you count the help of a 5 & 4yr old handing you screws), in around an hour. The one thing I didn't expect were the 3 separate pieces. Maybe I didn't read or look close enough, but I thought it was one complete unit. It doesn't matter for my needs, all three sit next to one another just fine. But it's pretty flexible so if you need to configure it differently, then it works that way as well! Overall a good value, looks as nice as the much more expensive models and very easy to assemble. I also used to Site to Store shipping and saved around $30. I'll take a 15minute drive to save some bucks any day!

I live in a studio loft with a nice brick wall. This unit is a great storage solution without hiding my wall, which I love. I kept the two bookshelves together and the desk unit by itself against another wall. It looks great together or separate. It is semi light weight, but if you put your stuff on it, like books etc, it gets sturdy. I have it on a hardwood floor agains a brick wall and a regular wall. Essembly was kinda a fun, and easy, except that two of the smaller shelves came a little damaged in the corners (in the seems), few hits w a hammer fixed the most obvious problem, the rest is only for me to know, no one else notices, it came securely packaged, so i think it may have been damaged before or when packing. I didn't bother returning it, because it is very heavy (70lbs) and the damage was minimal, I can overlook that, plus there are worse things in life ;) Other than that, I'm very happy with my purchase. Such a good deal, in other stores (yes i did my research) separately, each bookshelf from this 3 piece unit cost almost as much as the whole thing. Maybe if it was a little taller i would give it full 5 stars.

I was originally going to buy a similar set at Target... until they raised the price from $300 for the entire unit to $360. Since I'm on a budget and REALLY needed something other than the floor and some old storage bins to put some of my books and my computer on, I decided to see if Walmart had anything comparable. Luckily, I found this item on Rollout for less than half the price I would have paid! Assembly was easy, but getting the glue in place for the dowels was a little time-consuming (I did purchase a fresh bottle of carpenter's glue and some no-skid pads to keep it from moving and scratching up the floor). The desk unit is a little wobbly due to not having the support of five shelves; however, I am a lot happier with this product than I thought I would be.

This is a great product. It was easy to assemble (once you get the first one done)..The instructions were clear and easy to follow. I love this piece, its different and wont mess up walls with holes or anchors. Im very pleased wit the quality for the price. Im sure Ill be getting the single unit for my other rooms. Love it! Like some of the other reviewers, I had been wanting a desk similar to this one forever, but other brands prices are ridiculous. I just could not bring myself to pay $350 for a few 2x4s! When I saw this Walmart option I had to double check that the price was for all 3 pieces! It was easy to assemble, and it was delivered site to store in just 3 days. I was a little surprised by the color as it looks almost black online, but its a dark Maple finish, that is even nicer than expected. I used extra wood glue thanks to the prior suggestions, & I'm going to attach it to the wall since I've got a toddler that thinks everything is a jungle gym. Otherwise, its perfect, ornamental and a good buy.

This is the prettiest shelving unit available for the price. I have the two full shelves together with books and the half shelf on the other side of my tv and they look beautiful. I had my dad secure the half shelf against the wall as I have a crawling baby and wanted to make sure it would not tip but the other shelves are secured by the sheer amount of books and things that are on them. Now, I am terrible at putting things together, but I was actually able to get these together. It took me like 5 hours, but I did it. You DEFINITELY need wood glue. The one they give you is enough to glue like one of the five shelves together! I have gotten a TON of complements and I am very pleased with my purchase.

bought this the other day and love almost everything about it. Like the other reviews buy wood glue. Also buy little felt pads to put on back of shelf where it touches the wall for sound and scratch proof. I also used 4 drywall screws in places you can not see to join the shelves and the desk together. This made the entire unit solid as a rock. Make sure you pre drill a hole to not split the wood. Entire time to put together and clean off is about a hour to hour and a half

This bookshelf is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!! The color is a beautiful, dark, rich chocolate brown. I LOVE it! It looks great in my bedroom with my Laguna bed that I purchased from Walmart as well. I had an entire wall that was completely bare and boring. This is a great addition to my room!
As you can see in my picture, it holds a lot of stuff! Very sturdy and no scratches...I was surprised considering all the other reviews I read that said theirs had scratches from shipping. It has one little mark but you can't see it.
Some advice:
1) Buy your own wood glue as everyone else has said because the glue it comes with is so miniscule that it won't do you any good.
2) The only thing that bothered me was how much styrofoam the box came with...but it did prevent all the scratches. The little styrofoam pieces were all over the wood pieces, so I took a Swiffer wipe and brushed them off of each piece before I assembled the bookcase. It took me about 2.5-3 hours to put it all together, but the directions were very easy to follow. I was just very precise ^_^

After reading some of the reviews, i had it shipped to the store. No shipping charge and it was in perfect condition. The shelves look great in my house. No one would guess they came from Wal-mart or that they were so cheap. I really love the way they look. I highly recommend them. Such a better value than the other ones out there.

I really love the desk leaning shelf. It took about 2 hours to put together, the wood glue that came with is no good, I had to go by Wal-Mart and pick up some standard wood glue. Once it was put together it looks great!!! I get compliments all the time.

I purchased this after reading all the reviews & I agree with most of them. The shelf did have some pieces that were slightly damaged, probably due to shipping, but when it was completely assembled none of the damage was visible.
The shelf took me and my husband about 1/2 an hour to put together. You WILL need extra wood glue, there isn't nearly enough included.
The shelf looks like similar ones in furniture stores that are priced at $250.

I highly reccommend this bookshelf. I had found a very similar product at Pottery Barn, and at the last minute changed my mind and thought I would try this instead. I am so glad I did. It looks very polished and sophisticated when all set up, and virtually identical to the more expensive version. Plus with the desk feature (that the other one didn't have) it is extremely practical for small spaces. It is bigger, more practical, and half the cost. Overall a very quality product - you can't go wrong.

The bookcase shelf pieces came slightly scratched. I think this is a quality control issue from the manufacturer, as there are several reviews with this complaint. however, the bookcase looks great and it was easy to assemble. There was not enough wood glue provided but that is trivial. Overall, I was pleased with the product.
