Eureka Boss SmartVac Ultra HEPA Upright Vacuum, 4870J

I have owned several vacuums over the years. I never spent much because I figured by the time it tore up I'd have my moneys worth and just get another cheap one. Well, this time I did a little research before I bought one. I will NEVER go back to the cheapies!! This was everything I thought it would be from reading the reviews. I got it home and put it together. I then got out my old one and ran it. Then the new one and I was shocked at the amount of stuff it picked up!! I love it!! And I love these product reviews. I use them alot!!

This vacuum is great! It is easy to maneuver and has strong suction on both carpet and tile. When using the attachments, you still have great suction. I did all of my shutters and blinds with the brush attachment and they look great. The hose is also long enough to reach air vents and ceiling fan blades. I had borrowed a friend's pricey vacuum before buying this one and am definitely pleased with my purchase...great value for an excellent vacuum.

The Eureka Smartvac is the best vacuum I have ever owned. I have owned Hoovers, Eurekas and Dirt Devils in the past and none of them cleaned as well as the Smartvac. Not only is this vacuum powerful, but it is the quietest vacuum I have ever owned. Vacuuming is no longer the drudgery it used to be.

It is convenient and easy to use; almost seems to be self propelled, it's that easy to push. In fact, I find it can be pushed with only one finger. After only one use, my five year old carpets look brand new. Also, does an excellent job cleaning bare floors. For vacuuming area rugs, you can adjust the air flow/suction, by moving the hose/floor dial somewhere between hose and floor. However, I found that some small area rugs will still be sucked up by this powerful machine. In this case, i just use my stick vac or the hose attachments.

To the people who mentioned that the foot release to recline the handle is difficult, all you have to do is use your heel to push the pedal over to the left, instead of down. Also, if using your foot is too difficult, try using your hand to release it.

I am a petite female, who only weighs 99 pounds, and I have no trouble at all using this vacuum or any of the controls, knobs, accessories, etc.

I rated it 3 stars for durability, only because I've owned it for just one week. But I know of others, who have owned one for a few years, without any problems. Even if mine only lasts a year or two, I would definitely buy another one. For a little over 100 dollars, it is a tremendous value.

In my opinion, the only things that would improve the Smartvac are the following; a dirt sensor, change bag indicator, and a longer hose.

For the money not a bad machine. Has good suction and more features than most at this price range. It is loud and harder to push than most; it is also heavier than some as well. But overall for the money it gets the job done.

I was in the market for yet another vacuum about 3 months ago and was tired of Hoover vacuums wearing out so quickly. The Eureka was recommended by a number of friends and eventually I went with this model because of the HEPA filter. I have breathing problems and also have pets.
This vacuum easily out performs every Hoover I've ever had and makes short order of all that pet hair. The extra long cord doesn't require me to continuously find another electrical plug in order to finish vacuuming a room. This vacuum is also quieter than the Hoovers and unlike the Hoovers I've had the tools stay in place when not in use. Changing the bag is easy and none of the dirt goes flying as it did with a Hoover. I just can't say enough good about this vacuum.
I love the fact that switching between the floor and hose feature is merely a turn of the dial. The downside of that convenience is it's too easy to replace the hose and forget to turn the dial back to the floor feature.
The only real downside I can really think of with this vacuum is the release press. It often takes some real pressure to get it to release. Nothing is perfect I guess but this vacuum truly comes close. If you need a vacuum and, like me, can't justify $400 to $500 for a designer model then this is your vacuum. You won't be sorry!!

I have to say this is by far the best vacuum I have owned I have had several in the past including an Orek & this one is great!
I have a new home with new carpet that had all the fuzz that you do with new carpet ,,,this picked all of that up that my other vacuum would not touch! My carpet looks incredible : )
I also have an indoor dog and cat & this picked up all the pet hair!
I highly recomend this product!

I love this vacum. I was ready to rip up my carpet in my house because I could not get it clean. I have two golden retrievers and their hair was killing me. This vacum is GREAT for pet hair...and I have carpet that is very short with a very thick pile. I definitely recommend this if you have pets!

I've had this vacuum for a little over a month, but I vacuum just about daily (I have two toddlers), so I figure I've already put a few months of average-use wear on it. My only complaint would be that it's rather heavy, but I also feel like that means it's more substantial and will hold up to more wear & tear so it doesn't really bother me. It has great suction and an extra long flexible extension hose which has already proven to be useful on several occasions. I've already had to replace the bag since I use it so often, but at least I knew it was really picking stuff up - my bag was heavy! Overall, it is a great value for the price and I'm loving it so far!
