Very Impressed!, 05/09/2009
By swtpchs99, Cleveland, Ohio
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

I bought this dishwasher about 3 weeks ago and I love it. It is slim and very tiny inside, but it sure does clean very powerful. The only 2 downfalls are: even though it says it has a drying cycle, the dishes are still soaking wet...even the next day. You have to take them out and put them in the dish drain on the counter for them to dry completely. And, it is really tiny inside. If it's just one or two people in your home, it's perfect. But if you have a family and don't use paper plates and stuff, you will be washing a couple times a day. We use paper plates most of the time, so we just have to wash cups and bowls and silverware. It says that it can wash pots and pans, but truth be told, you can't get pots and pans in there! At least not with other dishes. That's a waste of electricity and water to run the dishwasher just for a couple pots and pans. But overall, I absolutely LOVE it! I am very happy with my purchase.

An excellent buy, 04/30/2009

I am extremely happy with this dishwasher. It performs as well as any full-sized, major-brand-name dishwasher. A great value for the money and it arrived several days sooner than promised. The instructions should probably state that one shouldn't use detergent tablets designed for a full-sized dishwasher but fortunately I figured that out before purchasing dishwasher detergent.

we have a very small retro kitchen from 1948. we didn't want to do a large scale expensive remodel just to have a dishwasher and it most definitely won't fit in the cabinets we have now. this one is perfect, it sits next to the fridge and looks like it belongs there! we are so thrilled that the dishes nightmare is finally over and our sink is empty again. it runs quiet even if we run it before we go to bed, no problem. only thing is the directions said not for faucets with a sprayer, our sprayer didn't work so we figured there wouldn't be a problem, wrong, the dishwasher blew the faulty sprayer out and leaked all over on the very first load. remove the sprayer completely even if it doesn't seem to work anymore, or the dishwasher will remove it for you:)

Excellent in every way, 04/25/2009
By Carold1029, South Central Missouri
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

Solid construction with the stainless steel interior, sturdy baskets, easy to understand instruction manual, small size, easy to move around. Did a perfect job on a pot that had some dried rice at the bottom. All the dishes were spotless. I would recommend this item to anyone. And the price was certainly right! Definitely compares favorably to comparable Sears items.

No more washing dishes by hand, 04/15/2009
By Sewinglover, Nancy, KY
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

I am 67 years old and never owned a dishwasher before, mostly because no space to put one. But after this many years you can see why I am tired of washing dishes by hand. This product, I love already, although I have only had it a little over one week and only used it about four or five times. The dishes come out so clean and spotless, they just feel clean to the touch when you are putting them away. Item arrived in good condition and has performed well so far. Hope it continues to amaze me in its performance. As of right now I can't say enough good things about this dishwasher and I hope the durability will be very good. It is very easy to roll to the sink and hook up and uses very little water. Thanks Walmart for a good product and site to store free shipping....

I have had my Danby dishwasher for three weeks. At first I noticed it took a little longer than the one it had replaced. I quickly relized the longer time was worth it, as the dishes come out bright and sparkling everytime.

I am very happy with this product, this was a exellent purchase for me and I fully recommend this product.

Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

I'm very happy with the dishwasher. It is portable and gets moved around 3 times a week. Some dents from running it into the cabinet handles. Once in a while a wheel will stick. I don't understand the water salt. I bought a box made for dishwashers and added it, but the salt needed light never went off. It's probably something I'm doing. Overall I'm very happy about the purchase and it fits perfectly.

I had never heard of Danby before, so I was skeptical of this product. But all of the reviews from the big names I knew didn't compare to this one. We decided to go for it.
I can't tell you how beyond impressed my husband and I are!
We bought online and had it delivered to our local Walmart. It was so convenient.
The box had to be turned on its side to fit in my SUV and it was a bit damp when we removed it. We were a little concerned, but it had absolutely NO effect on the product whatsoever.
Though the box was a little banged up, the product was completely undamaged - in perfect shape.
The attachment for the faucet is so simple to put on.
We just got it 1 week ago and have used it several times. It washes so well! The dishes are perfectly clean!
And it's so quiet! It rolls easily to/from the sink. The water attachment hooks up snug and securely so there's no leakage.
And it's roomier than we thought, fitting more dishes than we expected!
A really great value! So impressed.
Very glad we took the chance on this little guy ~ he's made an every day chore so much easier!

A single mother's friend!, 03/18/2009
By Ohmyrosh, Just outside Philadelphia, PA
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

I am in a small apartment with two kids who love cereal, and taking one sip out of a glass before putting it in the sink. My new Danby Dishwasher is heaven on earth! I can fit plenty into it. The upper shelf has little shelves on top of the cups for spatulas and stuff. I run it at night as we go to bed. The noise is minimal.

The pro's are numerous. First, my dishes are very clean. My water use is down. It was simple to hook up. It came with the attachment for the faucet. And the wheels made it easy to put in place. The filter at the bottom catches everything. I can keep it plugged in, but not use energy unless I turn it on. It is tidy looking, and fits so easily since it is so narrow.

The downsides are minimal compared to the conviences. If you run it during the day, your kitchen tap is unavailable for any other purpose until the load is complete. It doesn't dry well without a "JetDry" type product. The water hose isn't very long, and if you keep it not-tucked-in the back like I do, then it sits on the counter all the time. The faucet attachment makes the water come out of the faucet forcefully for general use. My last con would be the price. The use is for small families, or apartment living (generally limited income environments). Site to store saved about $63 in shipping. That helped, but $423 with tax is expensive for me. Worth it, but expensive. (I didn't assign a star rating for durability because I haven't had it a long time yet.)

I highly recommend this product. It is a financial investment for me, but a time saver. I wouldn't give it up now that I have it. If you can do it - GET IT! I love it. THANK YOU WAL-MART for selling this product with site-to-store option.

Pretty darn good, 03/16/2009
By JRBAMB, Kansas
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

I didnt think that this would be worth much. I've never heard anything good about portable dishwashers though. It works really good of baby bottles and cups. Which is mostly what I got it for. The plates come out clean too. On pots n pans its not the greatest unless you rinse them to the point of almost clean. I've gotten some pretty big pots in there too. It is small and tight on space inside but works really good... And its QUIET! Takes around 2 hours per load though...

Review 55 for Danby Energy Star 8 Place Settings Portable Dishwasher

You get what you pay for... Cheaply made., 03/15/2009
By an anonymous customer, Seattle, WA
Overall Rating: 1 out of 5 1 out of 5

The Danby 18 inch portable washer is the cheapest of this type of dishwasher around. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for... I ordered this bad boy site-to-store and picked it up 3 weeks later. After unboxing it and getting it in the right spot, I noticed that there was a dangling reservoir coming out of the bottom -- it was the "built-in" water softener. There was a gaping hole from the bottom inside of the washer to the outside of the washer where the plastic threads of the water softener had cracked off.

Like others have reviewed here, there were minor cosmetic dents to the exterior of the washer and the box looked like it had been kicked all the way to Seattle from China. The unit still had some water in it, as others have stated as well. I think this must be from the quality control testing, where they save a couple of pennies by not fully draining it before boxing it up to ship out...

So the first unit was packed back into my car to drive back 20 miles to the nearest Walmart. It was returned without hassle, but because it was a site-to-store purchase, I was simply refunded my money and they were not able to request a replacement unit for me at the store. So I ordered another one and waited for it to arrive 3 weeks later. I got it home, unpacked it, and what do you know -- the water softener reservoir was cracked off and dangling from the bottom again...

So after the hassle of returning the second one, I gave up. I ended up getting the Frigidaire 18 inch portable from somewhere else. $200 bucks more, but it came in only 2 weeks and the box was pristine when I got it. Unpacked it & no problems -- clean and dry. Runs great & no more dishpan hands ;-)

Don't buy the Danby unless you plan on contacting them directly to get replacement parts. It is a cheap product and it shows. The hassle was not worth the money difference.

I absolutely hate doing dishes. I read many reviews on this dishwasher before deciding to buy it, and I am so happy with it. I have a tiny galley kitchen area and it fits fine when in use, then I just wheel it out of the way when it's done. It does run a long cycle but I don't care because I don't have to wash dishes. It works great, all the items come out sparkling clean. I only need to run it about once a week but it is so worth the cost. The only thing I would recommend is if you are a single lady like myself...be sure to have some help getting it inside. I chose site to store and I live on the second floor so I needed help to get it inside. It weighs about 175 pounds with the packaging!

Mr. Danby serves me well..., 03/10/2009
By anyguy424, Brooklyn, NY
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

He cleans, shines, and disinfects my nasty dishes with nary a complaint, and for the past 2 weeks or so Mr. Danby has performed his daily dishwashing assignments admirably. I was feeding Mr. Danby a bit too much detergent prior to each assigned cleaning duty, as his dietary requirements consist of a mere 2 tablespoons or less. Regarding his hose: despite claims to the contrary it appears to be quite firm and in good standing under the constant pressure, though aggressive jerking of his couplings could potentially cause him strain or injury. He's petite in size so you will not see large loads. Mr. Danby was certainly eager to get right to work as he arrived at Walmart earlier than his stated online arrival date (by about 6 days or so). Mr. Danby works tirelessly, is very dapper looking, moves about with the ease of Fred Astaire, and his one-time $400 fee is extremely reasonable. Not only is he overqualified for the job at hand, he's also a perfectionist! I simply could not recommend him more highly!

Review 60 for Danby Energy Star 8 Place Settings Portable Dishwasher

Delightful, 03/09/2009
By Scrutiny, Florence, SC
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

I bought the Danby Energy Saving dishwasher for my 80-year-old mother. When searching for a dishwasher, I looked for something easy to use, durable, light weight and portable. So far, my mother loves it. The water and drainage lines are built in. The lines rolls into and out of the back, which makes storing them clean.

Currently, mom is reading the instruction manual, which for her age, must be easy to read or she'd tell me about it. I purchased it to replace a dishwasher I bought last year. Just my luck, the water pump went out while I was washing dishes during Christmas vacation, so I bought her this one. I tried to fix the old one, but the repairman told me it would take two months to order and receive the water pump from overseas. Also, it would cost me about what I paid for it when I add the repair charges, the estimate and water pump together.

I feel good about the Danby, though. It should last a lot longer. It's more durable and my mother likes it. Since I ordered the Danby, I found a repairman in town who knows a few tricks. He claims he can fix it if this one breaks. If mom has any trouble with it, I'll let you know.
