I've used the Danby portable dishwasher in my office for 3 wash cycles. Each time, the detergent dispenser did not open during the cycle. Once Danby customer service came on the phone after a 30+ minute hold, they provided a local service company to come out under warranty. That is still pending buy don't have any reason to believe the problem won't be taken care of. Once fixed, the product will most likely be a good choice. Only gripe is a mechanical cycle dial that I hope won't break down.

I am very satisfied with the dishwasher. No issues so far. It gets all the dishes clean without any problems. As you would expect, there is not much room. It is great to get all the cups, plates, bowls, and silverware clean, but pots, pans, and big bowls still need to be hand washed (there just isn't enough room). I feel the price is a little high. A full size maytag dishwasher only costs $600, so I feel $400 for a small portable isn't the best deal. However, all things considered it was a smart buy. It has made cleaning a lot easier!

After many years of owning dishwashers that were primaryily a place to hide the dishes until I got around to dealing with them, I have been most impressed with this one. It actually cleans the dishes! You don't need to pre-clean them. Thus far everything has come out spotless.
The racks aren't as convenient as they might be for loading, and it takes 90 minutes to complete the cycle, but actually cleaning the dishes makes everything else seem inconsequential.

I have had a Danby counter top for 4 years and it stopped cleaning the dishes but I have loved it. For the money and size I purchased the 8 place this time. I have used it once so far and pleased. I was not pleased that it was not dried on the inside after the factory QA test and upon opening the box, mold was on the still damp manuals. It was a long 4 days of a frustrating process to reach any one at Danby Customer service to complain and obtain a new owners manual.

I ordered this dishwasher, in spite of the unhappy folks who had trouble with their order. It is wonderful. I live in the mountains, where water is at a premium. I have to fill up a cistern from a hose, hooked up to an outside water faucet. I HATE washing dishes by hand, don't want to run up my electricity bill and have wanted a dishwasher. A full size is just too impractical for this "outpost" so this one seemed so perfect. It is!!! My dishes are clean, clean, clean and it just chugs along so quietly. I love it and washing dishes is now just lovely. Thanks, Wal-Mart, on line. :)

I love this dishwasher! My dishes are spotless and dry. It moves through the kitchen effortlessly. The hook up is fantastic. The true test is when my son eats and doesn't rinse the ketchup or what not off his plates; the dishes still come out sparkling! The only thing I don't like is the attachment for your sink. It makes the water come out with a smaller more powerful stream, but in the grand scheme of things this is a small price to pay for clean dishes.

This is my second Danby of this type and I consider it a great value. The convience of a portable dishwasher is really helpful if you have an older home without the space to build in a 24" unit or are renting and would like to take it with you. My favorite feature is the built in water softener which greatlly reduces hard water spotting and gives you crystal clear glassware. This feature is normally only found on units costing four or five times as much. Another nice feature is how clean everything comes out using a fraction of the water you would hand washing. Overall we are very satisfied and would highly recomend this unit.

We are a two person family, and most of the time we eat at home. This machine satisfies almost every criteria for us. Cheaper compared to others, portable, installation is very easy. The only problem is, it makes lots of noise while operating, and big pans dont fit in, otherwise this is a great machine.

Item arrived at Site-to-Store several days ahead of schedule. I ran it empty the first time to check for leaks, and there were no leaks. Ran it two more times with dishes, again no leaks and the dishes came out spotless. "Woo Hoo!" thought I. Well, the third and fourth time, it developed a leak. Not a gusher, but a relatively steady drip from a gasket underneath the machine. I put a bowl under the machine for the fourth load and collected about a cup and a half of water. It's an attractive looking dishwasher, seems very solid, stainless interior is nice, and it does get the dishes clean. HOWEVER: I'm not willing to live with a leak, especially from a machine that has been used 4 times. It's going back to WalMart today, sadly. Which is too bad because it was the perfect fit and perfect size (and added counterspace) for the small kitchen in my rented apartment.

Dishwasher was received a week before the expected delivery date in excellent condition. I have only used it twice so far but dishes have come out clean with no spots. Very quiet running. Fits well where I wanted to put it. It has plenty of room and is really all I need since there is only me. I would recommend this to others.

This machine meets all that I expected & more. I had a full size dishwasher before this & could not fit my dinner plates in it. This one I can "remarkable".The only thing that is a con is that it does leave water on the top rack, but no big deal. It washes great. I have had it about a month. I hope that it proves to be great for the life of the machine

A little leaky at the sink -- Runs a LONG TIME! (Over an hour) No idea about dishwasher salt to add -- no one else seems to know either -- going to call the company on that one -- Needs more spikes on top shelf to help stabilize things. Silverware tray is a little wobbly. Looks Great -- Not too big or too little. Cleans Nicely. Easy to set up. only run it three times so far...Hoping for the best.

We have a small kitchen and needed a compact,portable dishwasher. Before shopping online we found only one brand in stores, and that was at Sears. And the price tag was a shocker. Ultimately we found this Danby , read all reviews and ratings, and decided to buy it. In addition to being more reasonably priced, it shipped free from site-to-store. We have nicknamed it "The Dandy" because it really does a great job. Easy to wheel back and forth. Loads easily and actually holds more than I thought it would. And I have not had to "rewash" anything. There are only 2 things I would like to see different on this dishwasher. The first is the color, there were no choices given so I don't even know if it comes in anything but white. And it does not turn itself off after a cycle and so it has to be monitored. For instance, I would not turn it on before going to bed. It is so nice to have clean countertops and sinks during the day now because I can store dirty dishes in the dishwasher until ready to run a load. And it is a lifesaver for my hands!

So far I like this item quite a lot. Noise is at a minimum and the wash is top notch. I have had two at my house now, both direct buy from walmart and shipped to the store delivery. The first one looked like it was thrown off the truck and could not be used, walmart took the return and I had another one on the way. The second shipped the same servece and appeared to have a rough delivery as well. At first no apparent damage, but I noticed a small compression to the front of the counter surface and within 2 uses the power button sticks badly and feels like it lost a support from behind it. I do not know if the fault is machine or delivery.
I would buy another one just because it's the best option for the category I have seen and I do think it performs well with very little detergent and water. I just wish the freight company that delivers them treated items better.
