I purchased 3 of these heaters to help heat my large living room. They worked good for about 2 weeks, now when you first turn them on they will run for approx. 3 minutes at the most then they shut off. They will turn back on every minute or 2 and will run for about 30 seconds, then shut back off. I realize they are temperature sensive however I tried them in my basement where it was only reading 42 degrees & they still continued to turn off & on every minute or so. Had I only purchased 1 I would have figured it was just faulty, however since I purchased 3 I think its safe to say they are truly JUNK! MY OPINION IS...Don't waste your money.

Heats room but watch for smoke detector,

While the heater provided sufficient heat, my smoke detector installed in the house goes crazy the moment I turn it on. There is no visual smoke but somehow my smoke detector is sensitive to this heater. (Smoke detector is in room but not near the heater). Smoke detector would also turn off immediately when I turn this heater off. (It's kind a funny actually but annoying). As it was evident my smoke detector can't work along with this heater, I had to return it.

I would not recommend this product to anyone. It turns on and off constantly in a frigid room. The fan is weak and noisy. The only thing which seems to work well is the shut-off safety feature if it tips over. Too well, as the slightest inclination will also shut it off. As others have stated, this thing will drive you nuts. My father loaned me one that is several years old, half the size, probably half the price, and it works immeasurably better.

My mom bought this for me since my bedroom has barely any heat coming from the vents, and my roommates rooms turn into saunas if we turn up the heat. It has lasted a few years with not much use but does not heat up the entire room until after having it on for 4 hours at full blast. It's recently been making a lot of noises and shutting off without being able to be restarted for somewhere between 8-24 hours. I will be buying a new heater.

I'm surprised by the bad press on this unit. This is my third purchase of this fan/heater. We love it. We use the fan function as 'white noise' so our kids could sleep. The other two lasted over two years each running continuously EVERY night (8-10 hrs) and EVERY naptime. The fan is quiet, peaceful and works great. We have never had a problem with this product and I would/have recommended this unit to other parents.

This little heater is just fine for my bathroom,it takes it a little while to get it warm (the bathroom) but it works o.k. Perhaps the fan could be stronger but for$25.00 I'm satisfied with it. Grama Tweet

I've had this heater for about 5 years now and it's still running, which is amazing for a heater it's price. I have had many heaters in the same price range that have died after a year or two. The only downside is that you periodically have to take the bottom cover off the heater and clean out the intake screen. So if you find that your heater is shutting off every few seconds, then it's most-likely clogged with dust and/or pet hair. Just unscrew the bottom, and take a toothbrush and brush out the dust, and your heater should be just like new.

Purchased this heater to heat to help warm a room to a comfortable level to work in. The features described on the box met my needs for safety and coverage area. In reality, I could not feel any heat at a foot away from it. The fan motor was almost non-funtional. No circulation at all. Very disappointing.

I hate this thing!!! Like many of the other reviewers, mine kicks off every 2 seconds whether on high or low (notice picture). It's driving me batty. My feet will be ice cold and I can set them on top of the heater and still get no change in their temp. (notice picture...I shouldn't be able to get that close to the heating element.) I keep the heater under my desk at work, so it doesn't have much of a space to heat, and it fails miserably. Not only that, but the noise is driving me and my co-worker insane. I will be going to get a new one today.

Disappointed,

I have the same heater, bought about 4 years ago, that I love.
Moved into place with expensive heat, so before the cold season hit, I bought another one based on past experience.
What a horrible heater! I don't know what they changed from the older one, but this new one is awful. It kicks off even when the room (small room) is still freezing cold, but then continues to kick on/off every couple of seconds. Super annoying on top of not keeping a very small space even remotely warm. I like a little "white noise" when I'm sleeping, but the constant on/off routine, with no actual heating of the room is obnoxious.
I still have the older version and it still performs wonderfully. I don't get it. Taking this one back--glad I saved the receipt!

Review 14 for Honeywell Surround Heat Heater Fan
weak fan + picky thermostat = bad buy,

I have to echo the comments of some other reviewers here. While this heater seems to put out adequate heat for my space, it suffers from three annoyances: (1) the fan is super-weak. You can lie two feet from this heater on the floor and never know it was a heat source. Heat simply rises from the unit. (2) the fan is pretty loud. This alone is a minor annoyance, but becomes a major one when we look at the third problem, which is that... (3) the thermostat is so picky that once the ambient temperature reaches the desired level, the unit kicks on and off in rapid succession as it apparently tries to maintain that precise temperature. These fits and starts *can't* be good for the mechanical parts inside. So, if I may summarize: buyer beware -- if you would place the value of your sanity at a level greater than $24.88, you'll want to avoid this heater.

My husband was looking at another space heater to purchase when I spied this one on an upper shelf. I actually talked him into it because it's a Honeywell product. After getting it home and plugging it in to discover the noise from the fan is very loud and the heat - well there really isn't much heat for the fan to push if the fan could push it in the first place. I was very disappointed all the way around AND I have to deal with my husband's "I told you so" comments. I still can't believe this is a Honeywell product!

This heater didn't project heat out into the room, the only area it warmed was directly (within 5 inches) around the heater. I wasn't impressed. I used it for one night, and I am taking it back TODAY and getting another, one that actually can heat a room!
