"The Thing From Another World" is an excellent Horror/Sci-Fi flick. It was originally released in 1952 and has all the elements of a great movie.
It was actually directed by Howard Hawkes. Hawkes went on to become one of Hollywood's most sought after directors. In fact, he directed many of John Wayne's best pictures.
This film has state of the art special effects (for 1952 that is), it was filmed in black and white which ads to its realism. It is a great way to watch a Sci-fi movie that has a good story, good action, and very good actors (James Arness - TV's Marshall Dillon- plays The Thing).

If you liked James Arness as Matt Dillon in Gunsmoke for 20 years then get this movie as he played the thing, I remember watching this movie as a child so I was really glad that walmart had it, and so inexpensive to so purchase it and enjoy a classic as I do.

THis was one of the first horror films I ever saw.
Ill never forgot it. I have been looking for this on dvd for years. This movie for its time was ahead of its time. GREAT effects for thr era. ALL big name actors. It held you all the way threw till the big battle of man kind against space invaders from another world. I also love that the missing 7 minuets is on this disk. If you have never seen it it was the shaving scene. If you have you already knew, and the tie up scene . what can I say it is one of the best classic movies ever made

The Thing From Another World is one of the enduring horror films from the fifties. Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Them! would also fit into this catagory. It also has a rather tidy cold war subtex built into it. Essental vewing for horror and science fiction fans.

I had been looking for a DVD "The Thing from another World" I have the VHS but 7 minutes have been cut form the length. I was pleased to be able to obtain the original in the DVD Format. This is truly a mastepiece in Scienc Fiction that has survived these many years and still carrys quite an impact.
