Decent phone

It's not the worst phone I've had, but like all no-contract phones, it's not made to last and I'm glad I bought the warranty. I only had it since February and it wasn't working properly anymore, wouldn't play videos online from youtube, ran very slow, and I just preferred my other phone's operating system overall. On the ZTE Merit, you could go into the task manager and close applications that you weren't using to save memory and battery life, but you couldn't do that with the Optimus Zip. The only thing I truly liked better was that it opened to a full querty as opposed to a virtual querty. I love the affordability of the no-contract plans and Straight Talk has the best service in my area at the best price, but I've gone through 3 phones with them and currently shopping for my 4th.

Review 3 for Straight Talk LG Optimus Zip Cell Phone
This is a really great phone for those who prefer a QWERTY keyboard in addition to the virtual keyboard. The screen is big and bright and the apps are easy to find, sort, and launch. So far, the battery life on standby as well as in use has been decent. I do leave it charging each night and so far, it has lasted throughout my day on a single charge, even with the refresh and bluetooth running. Great LG phone! I'm a fan!

What they DON'T tell you about this phone is it only has 512mb of internal memory!!!!!! Yes it comes with a 4 gb card, but the card doesn't do you much good. ALL contacts, OS, and all apps that come with the OS will ONLY be on internal mem, can not be moved to SD card!!!!!!!!! After 3 downloads and putting 12 names in contactys, sys mem was SO LOW I could not add another contact!!!!!!!!! Brought this junk back and got Samsung Galaxy Centura: $50 cheaper and actually works... has 4gb of system memory AND 512 mb of ram!

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE

I've had this phone since AUGUST 2012 and I can say more than most up here that this phone is garbage ! No need to call STRAIGHT TALK to ask about this phone cause they will only tell you what they're trained to say and don't know about this phone themselves , talk to people who own it . After owning a droid X " VERIZON" , I wanted to get into the prepaid market to keep a few pennies in my pocket and after finding this phone on the VERIZON network (works best where I live) , I was happy to get back to a smart phone . The problem with this phone is the fact it won't let you move apps to the SD card . Don't matter how big a card you buy , you can't move your apps unless they are apps specially made for an SD card . FACEBOOK , EMAIL and most popular apps will only run on the internal memory which fills up fast , MEANING YOU WILL BE ERASING APPS , TEXTS AND SUCH EVERYDAY IN ORDER TO USE THE PHONE . Even cleaning the phone out and turning off apps don't work , because if you phone ever dies , you have to re-clean your phone again because those apps we're made to restart to this phones internal memory as soon as it's restarted .. Not to mention , most apps already built into the phone , so your only left with a few MB of space anyway . If you just wanna , talk & text , this phone is fine ! But no need to get around people bragging about this smart phone , because it's a phone , BUT IT'S NOT SMART !!

There is no memory on this phone. Also, I had it for about two months and it deleted everything off of my SD card, and it did the same thing with my fathers phone. I would not recommend this phone to anybody.

My husband and I just switched to straight talk. We are only paying $15 a month more for 2 lines than we were paying for 1. This is a Verizon based phone, so it works perfectly in our area. We both really like the phone, with our only complaint being a longer battery life. If there are too many programs running in the background the battery will need to be recharged quite often.

Not worth the money!

I bought this phone almost a year ago, and to be honest, this is the worst phone that Straight Talk has out there. It is not worth ten cents, in my opinion, due to the fact that apps that I download from the Play Store do not work properly, for one. Two, the touch sensor went out within 6 months, and Straight Talk will do nothing to compensate. Finally, it makes phone calls at random, due to the the screen not working. I suggest getting a more expensive phone, that way you know it is going to be worth the money.

had this phone since 3-28-13. Worked ok for the 1st month or so. Now it like many other people have been saying on here is the lack of internal memory, if you have too many apps or things running the phone says low phone space. Also the reception is awful, I can't even use it at all in my bedroom, the phone call is immediately dropped. Had this phone too long to take it back to Wal-Mart. They say you only have 15 days to return them. Too bad for me, now I'm stuck with a not so great phone till I feel like dishing out yet MORE money for another phone.

Don't bother buying this phone

I bought this phone because it appeared to be just like the optimus q, but on the verizon network. It's been nothing but trouble. I was only able to download 3 apps before it told me it was low on space. I had already put a 16g sd card in it, but the phone only allowed one app to transfer to the sd card. I am sending it back immediately! The point in buying a smart phone is to be able to utilize apps. Also, even though it's on the verizon network, it timed out and told me it had no connection more than it did with the optimus q which runs off sprint. Verizon has the best coverage in our area, so this should not have been happening. Again, don't bother buying this phone!

For the price this phone is fine, the biggest drawback is that it uses up the battery pretty fast. It does get great coverage.

Being spoiled for iPhones & not Straight Talk, I thought I had it made. Now I love Apple but this Andriod phone has pleased me. Great reception. Fast. Only complaint would be lack of internal space. Great price, you get more than what you expect in comparison.

LG Zip or Samsung Proclaim?
,
05/01/2013

This was a replacement from the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim. (I broke it)
Main reason why I ended up getting this phone was the sliding keyboard because I sometimes type out emails lengthy. Don't get me wrong, touch screen works good on the Proclaim, but it seemed to get confused on the predictive words because of how much short hand I do, so the LG was the better choice. I did have to get used to the placement of the B N & M keys on the keyboard. Don't get too excited about the directional keys because some apps don't know how to utilize them correctly. Typing is faster on this phone.
As far as other features when considering if to buy an LG Optimus Zip or the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim are:
- Both run on the same network, Verizon - LG camera has auto focus which dials in a crisper photo - LG has physical keys for menu, home, back & search, which is also another way to turn on the screen - Samsung has a taller screen - Samsung processor is a 1ghz, LG only has 800mhz.
The amount of memory is a big difference for both of them. They both come with a microSD card which can be upgraded. However, internal memory is a big difference. LG only has about 150mb but the Samsung has 1gb. BIG difference when you like downloading a lot of apps. Some apps are able to move onto the SD card but not all of them. When I bought the LG, I had to down size how many apps I had on it, where as the Samsung didn't have that issue.
In conclusion, if you like physical keys and descent camera, LG does a pretty good job. App happy and want the processing speed? Go with the Samsung.

Review 20 for Straight Talk LG Optimus Zip Cell Phone
Horrible. Taking this back tomorrow to get Galaxy

My husband, daughter and myself bought 3 different Android phones on Thur. Mine is the Lg Optimus Zip. On Friday, I added 2 apps, half my contacts (not a lot) and a few pics. It was ok for Friday. On Sat, I decided to add another app. NOPE! The internal phone memory was full. I went to app management and the apps and contacts aren't allowed to be moved to the SD card. PITIFUL! I searched online and worked for 4 hours downloading stuff on my computer that would supposedly work with this phone to override not being able to save on the SD. HUGE WASTE OF TIME. So, TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT: I will be returning this one 4 days after purchasing to get the Samsung Galaxy. It is the one my husband chose and he isn't having any problems. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE LG OPTIMUS ZIP. Get the Galaxy or if you don't mind spending the money, an iPhone.
