Brother Brother PED-Basic Embroidery Sewing Machine Software
Brother PED-Basic Embroidery Software brings the art of computerized embroidery and sewing right to your fingertips. This sewing machine software is designed for downloading embroidery designs from the Internet to use with your Brother home embroidery machine. The Brother PED-Basic comes with USB card writer, blank memory card and software compatible with Windows 98 or later. To operate, simply insert the memory card with your downloaded embroidery images into a Brother embroidery sewing machine. All downloaded or imported embroidery data can be previewed or edited on screen. This embroidery designs software comes with an instruction manual too.

Great Product (once I figure it out)

After I figured out what I was doing wrong, I found I LOVE this product. I am using Windows 7 and could not use the HELP feature on this product, but fortunately I still have a computer with Windows XP and I was able to open the HELP feature to find out how to use this product. Once I got it figured out I went crazy saving all the free designs I can find. I learned how to sew on a Brother when I was 10 years old; later I went to the Singer products with my first embroidery machine; and now I am back to Brother with my third embroider machine (which does MORE than the Singer at 5% of the price...my first Singer embroidery machine cost $1000; second Singer embroidery machine cost $5000 and the Brother cost me $250) I have the SE-400 and love it. Brother just makes a good product that is affordable for the masses and I will continue to buy their products.

the embroidery sewing machine software was by far the the least expensive at WalMart.com. I shopped online other places and came back to Walmart. I had bought the same software years ago at Walmart and when I needed to replace it, Walmarts was shere i went.

I have an embroidery machine that I use ALOT. I download many many designs off the Internet. My machine uses this memory card system or can be connected to a computer. I prefer the memory card and already owned one. I wanted a second one but found the $350 cost for just the card out of reach. Then I realized I could get another PED system, which included the memory card, for less than 1/3 the price. And I have a back up reader now, as well. Excellent value, great product.

This is a great answer for those of us who can't afford the pricey embroidery programs out there. Being able to download from the internet is great, many designs are free. This product does have an upgrade on Brother's website..... Easy to do. Also, the "Help" did not work, but that is not a Brother PED-Basic issue. Microsoft Windows no longer programs WinHlp32.exe into their OS (Operating System) which may cause "Help" not to be available for programs that have it. (Since Vista and beyond) To be able to access "Help" on programs that have it, including the PED-Basic, go to----- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917607 -----and follow the instructions under 'Resolution'. It is easy fix. Happy embroidering! :)

The product arrived at my Walmart with considerable damage to the external box. We opened it before I paid. The internal, product box had a little creasing. The contents were in excellent shape.
It was the software that I needed for my new Sewing/Embroidery Machine. Everything worked as promised.

I absolutely love my new PED-Basic software ! I bought a CD with embroidery patterns on Ebay (3000 patterns) and this product has made it's use a breeze. I have been busy embroidering onesies for my neices that are expecting new arrivals, they came out great. I would highly reccomend the PED-Basic system to anyone that has/or is thinking of purchasing a Brother embroidery sewing machine. It's very easy to use and the investment was well worth the purchase price.

I own a Brother's SE400 Embroidery Machine..and wanted to be able to download embroidery patterns from Brother's free embroidery patterns website and to be able to transfer it to my machine and embroider patterns other then what came with my machine. This Brother PED-Basic Embroidery Software emabled me to do exactly that. I am very pleased and would highly recommend it to anyone. It is an excellent compliment to my Brother's machine. I works great!!!

I was a little hesitant to buy this at first since my Brother sewing/ embroidery machine is a little older. I had it for a while but rarely used it because I wasn't thrilled with the built in designs it came with except Mickey and Minnie and you can only put them on so much! I looked on line to see what was available to use with the PED Basic before I bought it. There are thousands of designs available. Both free and for sale. After only 15 minutes I was embroidering designs I got free on line. I am really happy with it and would recommend it to anyone. Walmart is FAST at shipping! I wasn't supposed to get it for 5 days and got it within 2! Awesome!!!

I actually purchased this 2 years ago but just started using it a few weeks ago. I am so loving this piece and even though it was $30 more when I purchased it, it was worth every penny to me! So easy to use, never dreamed my weency machine could turn out such beautiful art!

I could not get this reader to work. I tried everything I knew to do and finally gave up called an internet Tech to come over and help set this up for me.. after several frustrating attemps to get it working... he gave up as well.

If you have a Brother's embroidery machine I recommend the Brother PED-Basic as it works like a dream. We did like it said, since the computer that we installed the Brother PED-Basic on has Windows Vista on it - (recommended that you not use the cd but download the files from Brother's site and install. Have to say the price was great too. My husband and I had gone the following weekend to a Sewing Machine store where we live that carry them and they wanted $299.99 for it. They were willing to knock the price down to $234.99 but we passed and ordered on line from Walmart and saved big time.

After finally deciding to purchase this and using it for the 1st time, I hate that I waited so long! I did get a little frustrated at first, but not with this product-- just trying to decide which design I wanted to transfer to my Embroidery machine! I have a CD with 100's of designs on it, that my computer could not open. Now with this software, I can view them and transfer them super quick to my machine!

After reading other reviews, I knew this was exactly what I needed to get started with my se-350 embroidery machine. The advice to download from Brother was so helpful. Program is easy to use. Thousands of designs, Thanksgiving designs, Christmas designs are now available - just be sure design works with hoop size. Wal-mart has best deal on the web with free site to store.

Works very well on my Brother SE400 now that I`ve gotten the right drivers. If you have Windows7 or Vista, DO NOT try installation from the CD. Go to Brothers.com and get driver & download. Otherwise, it just won`t work, It turns out fantastic pieces and so-o-o easy.I am doing most of my Christmas gifts with it. Must be careful.....it can become addictive. LOL

If you go to brother mall and try to get a spare 4MB card you'll pay $227.99. But at Walmart you get everything for $102.00. Seams like a no brainer plus you will have a backup card reader and software to boot.
I love that walmart puts their old stuff on clearance. I purchase the old model SE-350 three monhts after the se-400 came out for $189.00. So now with the cost of the PED-BASIC being $102.00 I've paid only $291.00 for the same features as the new model I just have download to a card instead of a machine. WALMART YOU ROCK!
I have been a Brother fan for Years. They make the best sewing machines out there and are so easy to use even for the beginner. Right now I own the SE-350, CS-6000i, and the CE-5000PRW (YUP MY OWN LITTLE SWEAT SHOP AT HOME) And I'm planning on getting rid of my Singer serger and getting the brother Model.

The embroidery machine I purchased had such better options than expected. I thought the memory card was important, but the machine itself acts as plug and play to your computer and thus eliminating the additional software or memory card. Unless you don't have a laptop to be mobile with the machine. Very pleasantly suprised :)
