Poor Customer Service and Tech Support

I purchased this laptop in November on layaway and paid it off by December. I used it for 7 weeks without incident when it suddenly stopped turning on. It would not work on either battery or electric power. I called Toshiba's tech support and after failing to troubleshoot over the phone, I was told to send it in for repairs. I authorized the repair via the email link they sent to me. I chose their shipping option (STRONGLY ADVISED BY THEM# and paid $24.95 for shipping. They sent me the box and I mailed it off. After waiting three weeks, the pc came back unrepaired and no explanation as to why it was unrepaired. I called them a second time and was again told to send it back. They sent me another box and I returned it to them. No shipping charges this time. Two more weeks go by and now they are claiming there is damage to a small plastic piece on the back of the pc #which I am NOT responsible for) and will not repair the pc unless I pay another $80 because the piece is "not covered by the warranty." The case manager repeats this like a broken record. I used their shipping option twice. If the unit was damaged in transit, that is not my problem. I used the box they sent to me and the whole reason I used their shipping option was precisely so that I would not be responsible for any damages that may have been sustained in transit. Now they are trying to make me responsible for damage that they may very well have caused themselves. They are using this little plastic piece to negate the warrantly that does CLEARLY state that a defective product can be replaced or refunded. They refuse to do either. I have lodged a complaint against them with the Better Business Bureau and will escalate further until they refund my money. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT OR ANY OTHER PRODUCTS FROM TOSHIBA!!!! Poor customer service and repair. I am extremely disgusted with Toshiba and will NEVER buy anything from them again.

Had I known about the lower quality and performance of this computer, I never would have made the purchase. I guess the old adage is true..you get what you paid for it. Cheap is cheap. No quality here.

Kept getting error messages and shutting down

I bought this laptop for my teenager. We kept getting errors messages when we went to download software (Microsoft Office, antivirus software). The computer would give us this message that it was sorry that it had to shut down. It happened about ten times in a week. We returned it before the 15 day return policy. I know some customer's are complaining about Windows 8. Certainly, there is a learning curve to this software, but I don't think it's a reason to return the computer. In the meanwhile, we're looking for a new laptop.

Purchased for christmas for my son going to college. It kept shutting down with errors and the mouse pad was worthless. My son loved the looks and everything. We got our money back and he's looking for another one on line. We might try another one.

so disappointed, Christmas gift for my grandson, laptop would not operate. My daughter called Tech support ,told her to take it back. Had to return to Walmart and they said ,they were not doing exchanges gave me a full refund . Did not have a comparable lap top in stock. So now I have to shop for another one. Next step had to call and get refund for the protection Plan I purchased,however they were very nice and my refund would credit back to account in 3 to 5 business day.

My first laptop, kind of ok, kind of not. It freezes up a lot, with or w/o power cord use. Once it wouldn't shut off at all so I had to remove battery to get it to restart. Use of wireless mouse bought separately works better than one on laptop. Sound quality poor and low. Keyboard use is good. Set-up wasn't too bad. I'm not too keen on Windows 8, but I'm getting used to it. Transferring files was easy enough. My main pc is Compaq, and I've done better dealing with Hewlett-Packard brands than a Toshiba. But the price here was good.
