This album's pretty good, but I was expecting less of a "bubblegum pop" feel, compared to Taylor's prior country efforts. Several of the songs have good beats, but I can't think of a track on par with songs like "Fearless", "Love Story", or "Speak Now".

Taylor Swift's new album Red has a little bit of something for everyone to enjoy! If you like pop/dance there are a few songs (especially Trouble) that you will love!! There are also some of her classically country ballads that are sweet and the lyrics transport you to that time in your life that you were searching for someone to love you as much as you loved them. Then there are a few of her collaborations that are incredible singer/songwriter coffee house style and just amazing to listen to. This is one of those CD's that you can listen to on repeat because there are so many songs that are in a few different genre's so you just don't get tired of listening!! I highly recommend this to anyone, even if you aren't typically a Taylor Swift fan you may want to give this one a try!!

Review 15 for Red
Love is Red

I got my copy early and have listened the entire album more than a handful of times now so I decided to write a review.
Yep, I'm a guy and I'm not ashamed of being a huge Taylor Swift fan. Why? Because unlike most other mainstream musicians out there today, Taylor is capable of writing fairytale-like lyrics which transports me.
Take for example the line from the upbeat-club-dance number Starlight (track 15) - "He was trying to skip rocks on the ocean saying to me, don't you see the Starlight, starlight?" How adorable is that? With other brilliant line like "Like the colors in autumn, so bright just before they lose it all" (Red - track 2), it's no surprise that Taylor is drawing comparison to the legendary Joni Mitchell by many. Sure, she has a long way to go before reaching that sort of status but the potential is certainly there especially considering her age.
Red is the album where you feel like she wanted to break the barrier of country/pop labeling, and she wants you to let you know that she doesn't give a *beep* and simply wants to have fun. It has a song that reminded me of Pink from the get-go "I Knew You Too Well" (track 4), to the fast-tempo-heavy-thumping rock number "The Holy Ground" (track 11) reminiscent of something from a Fleetwood Mac album 'Tusk', to the U2-like opener "State of Grace". It wouldn't be a Taylor Swift album without a cute mandolin/ukulele(?) song will it? "Stay Stay Stay" (track 9) is that. And of course, country flavored songs - "I Almost Do" (track 7), "Everything Has Changed" (track 14, featuring Ed Sheenan), and "Begin Again" (track 16).
In summary, Red is a really fun album that has me mainly dancing in the parking lot right before work and at times holding my hand over my chest sighing while remembering failed relationships. As a whole, it's not as solid as I expected it to be but it is still excellent, nonetheless. She is starting to explore different musical boundaries and she is one of few mainstream artists whom I am honored to follow. As a music lover, I just can feel that her passion is music and that is what comes first before anything. Team Swift for life!
