The Neato XV-21 is equipped with onboard Room Positioning System (RPS) technology, a revolutionary system developed by Neato Robotics that combines laser vision with mapping. With RPS technology, the robot uses its laser to see its surroundings and create accurate maps of areas to be cleaned, including furniture, objects and doorways. The robot constantly updates its map of the room, so if a new object is added into the room during a cleaning run, the robot will add it to the map.

It had a great suction but it got stuck under/around chairs. It would just go in a circle completely lost. I spent more time putting it back on track than it was worth. Took back to store for refund.

I read many online reviews before selecting this brand of robot. I did a thorough cleaning of my floors before letting the robot run its first cleaning schedule. When it was done I was aghast that it had an almost full bin of pet hair and dust. I run it daily and everyday it has some dirt. It is not too noisy- I watch TV when it is running. I bought this at Walmart rather than get one cheaper on EBAY because of the warranty. If you have to ship it anywhere for warranty work you will have to pay the ship. A Walmart warranty makes help available locally. This is the best investment in an appliance I have ever made. Wish I had done it sooner.

Love, love, LOVE the Neato xv-21. I am so impressed with this vacuum, it starts up at set time each day and and runs through the entire house with two pauses for recharge along the way. You just cannot imagine how much dirt and pet hair it picks up each time! We have a Sheltie who is groomed regularly, but there is still pet hair that we cannot even see apparently!! If you are on the fence, jump on over!! Neato is worth every penny I paid for her!! I work from home and am in my office all day long on the phone with customers. It's a pleasure to walk out into the house and have clean floors and know I don't have to spend my evening or Saturday vacuuming!!

This vacuum does a good job, and the way it cleans is orderly rather than random like the iRobot roomba vacuums. It is really unusable though because the battery life is only about 30 min. The roombas I have run for about 70 min on 1 charge and clean my whole house which is all carpet and about 1400 sq ft. This robot needs to make 3 trips with a 2 hour charge between them so it takes about 6 hrs to clean, and doesn't do the whole house. I called the company and they sent me new batteries, but they didn't last any longer. If this had good battery life of at least 1 hour I would recommend it, but can not because it just takes too long to clean. I'm returning this and sticking with my roomba which I love.

I am not a good everyday or even every week sweeper. It was apparent after a new floor was put in the kitchen, I would need to step up and do it more often. I love it for every day sweeping, I had to follow it the first couple times out to find the trouble spots. Then I could let it go out in the house by its self after picking up the Cat dishes, bath mats, clothes, hanging cords (because of the cat dishes I don't set up a cleaning schedule#. Certian furniture will need to have blocks made so that it dosen't get stuck in them. It does leave a perimeter track on carpet along the walls, that needs to be vacuumed or brushed out occasionally, but then, by that time the carpet needs the edges and baseboard swept. The hardwood floors again the areas along the wall and corners need to be swiftered out and it will do the rest. I can do this in about 5 minutes throughout the house, then clean the bath and do other things while it is sweeping or I can just put my feet up and watch it sweep the floors. The dust bin is easy to dump, again I do vacuum off the filter when I feel there is a lot of dustballs left after tapping it against the trash bin. The fence strip is nice because I can get it to finish the areas I want it to clean first then I can either take the bot to clean a small room or take the charger along to the back of the house and let it clean and charge back there after it has finished the front. The Cats who usually scat when the I vacuum the floor sat and looked at it when it was doing its rounds, I have had to push them out of the way of the oncoming bot as they did not seem to notice that it was headed for their tails. It has a motor but the noise is not awful. I will help bot do my 2 hours of sweeping, bot may take longer to do it but then I am free to do something else and the floors are swept everyday. I love it! I also would like to know where I can get the rechargable battery for it as it will wear out one day, I will have to go and buy a couple more filters also #a little expensive- $40.00 for 2 of them).

Way better than expected

I was a little sceptical about how well a robot vacuum would work in the real world but I was completely impressed. It doesen't do quite as good a job as a regular vacuum but it's close.
The enjoyment of watching it work while you go about doing other things is fantastic. Even my six cats like to watch it and they aren't afraid at all. We have it set to run in the middle of the afternoon because although it's not as loud as a regular vacuum, you wouldn't want to try and watch TV while it's working. Our house is about 1100 square feet and it will work for about an hour before it has to return to base to recharge for about 2 hours and then it will go back to where it left off, work for about another 30 minutes to finish the job and then return to base and go to sleep.

Although I enjoyed seeing the particle trap fill up, I didn't like that it repeated it's path quite often; Not very efficient for battery life. More times than not, it seemed to wander aimlessly. Im thinking if you had a square room with very few pieces of furniture, it might do okay? It also does not suck the dirt close to the walls. AND LASTLY...... It flat quit after one week of use!

My cat and I watched amazed as this robotic vacuumed the carpeting in my apartment. It picked up every little piece of lint and cat hair! Since I am allergic to dust, this was really a Godsend! I could not take my eyes off of it while it was working! I followed it from room to room. And then emptying what it had gathered, I could hardly believe my eyes at the amount of

I bought this after I fell and hurt my wrist and couldn't vacuume very well. With 2 dogs and 2 cats there is always hair to sweep so thought I would try. This does an excellent job of picking up that hair. It had to be emptied twice since I have a fairly large open area, but it did a great job of picking it all up. I did need to pick up throw rugs but other than that it was very methodical in it's cleaning. I might even buy a second one for my upstairs.

My husband and I bought the Neato XV-21 Pet and Allergy Robotic Vacuum a couple of weeks ago and she has become a part of our household. We call her Nellie and she cleans for us twice a day. It's absolutely amazing at the hair and dust that she is still picking up from our floors (and I thought I was a pretty good house cleaner). We do have both cats and dogs so we needed the pet and allergy vacuum. The folks who clean for me on a monthly basis were very impressed with the work that Nellie had done before they got to my house this past week. I gave her 5 stars because so far that's what she has earned...sorry I didn't know about this product sooner. Another plus is the easy-to-clean canister that catches the dust and hair. Nellie is my new best friend.

I have been very pleased with this product. It moves slowly and thoroughly vacuums. The nap on the carpet looks new after the vacuum is done. It also moves easily from hardwood to tile to area rugs and over heavier door mats and does an excellent job on these surfaces also. It picks up the dog hair and does a good job on the edges against the walls or furniture. I love using it in the bedroom. I just lift up the bed skirt, turn it on and close the door. When I come back it's all vacuumed including under the bed and the vacuum is back charging again. I'm amazed at how much it picks up. My only suggestion would be to make the lint/dirt collection box a little larger. And an added benefit is that it doesn't scare my dog like the regular vacuum does.

This vacuum is amazing. It finds dirt and lint that I could not. I'm thankful that I choose this one.

Neato has a shorter running time than I expected, about 25 minutes then it returns to the charger, recharges over 30 minutes then off again starting where it left off. It did that three times to cover six rooms. When completed, it returns to the charger. I believe we will become friends.

Purchased this to deal with the constant shedding from 3 dogs. My home has a combination of wood floors, area rugs, and throw rugs. After 2 weeks of daily use it does works as advertised.
It's set to clean daily, however it does get 'stuck' at times requiring me to clear it's path or to clear it's brush, hence I don't leave it alone. I'm not so sure it actually follows an organized pattern, if it bumps up against a retrieved toy from the basket it may go around it, over it, or just turn around to vacuum another area. When it does get stuck, it will shut down and beep, if you can't get to it right away it will shut itself down.
It does get under furniture very well, the dust bin is easily emptied, battery lasts about 2 hours of continuous cleaning, the boundary marker is pliable enough to be curved, when it needs assistance the display will say please and thank you. Maintenance on the brush is same as an upright. Unlike the upright vacuum, none of the dogs bark at it, instead they ignore it. Yes, it is noisy, but not as noisy as my Hoover upright if left on for an hour. I haven't noticed an scratches or other marks on the wood floor from using it, nor has it sucked up a throw rug because of a loose string.
During the first couple of day of use the dust bin had to be emptied a couple of times per cycle, now it's emptied at the end. It doesn't pick up every bit of dust, my upright still gets a weekly workout but the house feels and looks cleaner. For me, Gladys, (yep I named it) was a good investment.
