This is by far the very best vacuum cleaner I have ever owned-- hands down! In February, I decided that it was time to replace my piece of junk Bissell and purchased the Shark Rotator. I had just vacuumed my floors before purchasing it, and decided to vacuum again when I got home. The Shark canister was full half way through sweeping! I could not believe how much my old vacuum was missing.
As of yet, I have had ZERO problems or complaints with it. I actually enjoy vacuuming again. I love that I can empty the canister with the push of two buttons and don't have to get all of the dirt and grime all over my hands like I did with old bag-less vacuums.
Who needs to pay $500+ for a Dyson when you can get the same quality for less? Shark has definitely won my business.

I LOVE this vacuum. I've had almost every brand in the past and this is the easiest to assemble, easiest to use of all. We have kids and dogs so having a good vacuum is essential. Also, love the rotating feature..thanks, SHARK!

I have had the very best and expensive, but this one is exceptional in that it is lightweight and in expensive. Power...there is no more powerful than this one., this could match the test with the bowling ball. Without problems.

Pros and Cons compared to the Dyson

We have had the Dyson for many years and have not had many problems with it until recent. We decided to try the Shark based on TV comparisons and blogs. Below are some comparisons including pros and cons compared to the Dyson. PROS - Light weight and compact compared to the bulky Dyson design. - Much Narrower compared to the Dyson, this is both a pro and a con. The narrow design allows the Shark vacuum to get between areas that we could not get the Dyson in, for example, the Dyson would not fit between the legs of our end tables, or behind our coach or between the kitchen table legs. - The belt is not exposed to the dirt, it is in a sealed compartment on the side. This was an issue we have had with the Dyson, we go through a lot of belts and have replaced the rotating brush several times due to wear. - The lift-away canister makes it much easier to vacuum our stairs. - The wand comes apart at the handle which makes it much easier to use the rotary attachment for doing the stairs. The Dyson when you pull the wand out, the wand is attached so it's difficult in doing stairs and furniture. - The rotary attachment actually works and works well, the Dyson rotary attachment would stop if you tried to really use it as it is intended to be used. - The suction is great, and it does a great job vacuuming. - 3 filters for dust control. - Smooth exterior design, no sharp edges. With my Dyson, I tore a hole in the fabric of my brand new couch because of the sharp exterior design. - Quiet, this thing is amazingly quiet compared to the Dyson. Our dogs always bark at the Dyson, but do not bark when we use the Shark. CONS - The cord is extremely short compared to the Dyson, we could plug the Dyson in and vacuum the entire house, the Shark we have to plug it into several different outlets to reach the whole house. There was a $59 option for a longer cord, Hmm, what else did they skimp on? After owning the Shark for a few weeks, my wife said the $59 upgraded cord would have been worth it. - Wires are routed and exposed in the rotating brush area, I can see this becoming an issue later down the road. - Much narrow compared to the Dyson, with the narrow design and the cord being short, this has increased vacuum time significantly. Sounds tedious, but it is a pain. There is an option for a longer cord, but I believe that was $59 which is not worth the extra price(my wife now says it would have been worth the extra money for the upgraded cord). Does make me wonder what else they may have skimped on. - Lack of feeling heavy duty. The Dyson by far feels much more heavy duty than this unit. You can tell the Shark is far less quality in it's construction than the Dyson. - 3 different filter areas, wow, now that is going to be a load of work trying to keep all three filters clean. - The dirt canister is much smaller than the Dyson canister and seems pretty cheaply made. This is okay if you have a small household. We have two kids and three dogs and we do use our vacuum daily. With 3 dogs, we have to empty the canister 3 times in 1 vacuum session due to the canisters small size. - The wand is much smaller(shorter) and bulkier than the Dyson wand. Doesn't reach well between the fridge and wall. - The vacuum tubes in the machine itself are square and very narrow, which makes this vacuum more likely to plug up compared to the Dysons round tubes and round corners.
Overall the Shark has some features I really like, but does suffer from some much needed features. If this unit lasts as long as my Dyson did, I think it's worth the savings compared to a Dyson. The short cord and small canister is certainly a huge set back in it's design. Those two reasons may be enough to stay with a Dyson.

I am really impressed with this product compared to the navigator. The only reason I scored a 4 is that it is not "light weight" as described but its not too bad.

Not too happy about the sale, if you bought the sweeper you got a $20 gift card. That is not why i bought the sweeper, but they never had one and I had to order it online.

Review 14 for Shark Rotator Professional Upright Vacuum, NV400
I have only good things to say about the Shark Rotator NV400. It has tremendous suction, picks up dog hair wonderfully, dust and lint no problem. The extension tools are easy to store, don't fall off and work great. I cleaned out my central air conditioner system and wow what a job it did. So easy. My sister bought one last month, convinced me to buy one two weeks ago then my aunt's big lugger went out and she bought a Shark Rotator NV 400 also. Now there are three in the family and all three have had zero problems. It does what it says it will do

I am impressed with the noise level and suction this vacuum has. It works great. Just have to get used to the vacuum head turning now and then. None of my other vacuums did that. The headlights on it I thought in the beginning were ridiculous but after using it, I found more dirt that I didn't know what in those tight spaces, detach the hose and install crevice tool and away you go. I would recommend this to anyone. It's quieter than normal vac's and works great.

I had my last vacuum for almost 8 yrs and was looking for a quality replacement but didn't want to spend dyson dollars if you know what I mean. It was hard to choose between this model and the newer rotator/liftaway combo. In the end I chose this because the latches on the liftaway seemed like they would be just something that would break easily. I like a heavy vacuum because I'm afraid of it tipping over while I'm using the attachments. If you have stairs I would go with the liftaway combo. I vacuumed with a borrowed dyson the morning just before I went to buy this shark. Naturally I wanted to use it right away when I got home. I have a Lynx point Siamese and when I emptied the cup it looked like I had vacuumed up my cat! There was so much fur and gray puff in there. I love that I can just wash the filters as needed instead of buying new ones. The extended reach is great for getting cobwebs out of the ceiling corners. It has a suction adjustment on the hose so I can vacuum the curtains and blinds without messing them up. My dyson owning neighbor was over checking it out and now she wants one.
