I have a 12 pound chipoo who I got the medium size for and it's perfect! It's thick enough to be warm but not too thick so that it's uncomfortable. It slips over the head because of the hood part but the bottom part is a strap around the belly which makes it easier to put on. My dog is a boy and he has no problem going to the bathroom with it on. At first he tried to chew at the hood but now he doesn't pay any mind to it. I don't believe the hood would ever be functional but that's not why I got it. I definitely recommend it!
