The number one learning tablet just got better. LeapFrog LeapPad2 Explorer inspires kids to imagine and explore with front-and-back cameras and video recorders, 4 GB of memory and a library of more than 325 cartridges and downloadable apps, including eBooks, videos, music, creativity apps and more for limitless learning and fun.
This item was replaced under warranty which was a 'NO HASSEL EVENT." This product is used almost daily by a 2 1/2 year old. She understands how to use it and it seems to hold her attention. The reasons why I didn't give this a 5 star rating are because it uses batteries and has no charger, and because the app that can be purchased to fit in this device can be easily removed by the child. (We thought it was lost a couple of times.) It would help if there were a way to secure it to prevent its removal. Overall a good learning tool: eye-hand coordination, fine motor, cognition skills. Just don't forget to include outdoor play!

Review 2 for LeapFrog LeapPad2 Explorer Learning Tablet, Pink
This toy was a gift to my 3 year old daughter for Christmas and she has not put it down yet! There are so many apps you can buy online for it and there is always a deal of buy three and get one free! You can choose apps that fit your child's age and you can monitor their educational progress. I wish there were more challenges for older kids though. My 9 year old likes the toy but it's not made for his age group so he isn't learning anything but he still likes to play the games. The other thing I don't like is that it takes four AA's. so I bought the rechargeable pack as well and now we can take it anywhere! Great buy!

I got this for my 23 month old who is inlove with Disney Junior. The only problem I have, the rechargeable batteries are so expensive, and the games too, but over all it's a must have especial on long trips.

I bought this for my daughter and within 4 months it started messing up the touch screen would not let her scroll to the icon of her choice so basically I spent money on the device and 6 games for it wich I might add are not cheap for it to be put up because it does not work smh very unsatisfies. Same thing happened to my nephews!

Devours batteries, Expensive apps

My 5-year-old LOVES it, it has a lot of great games and apps, and I think it will really help her learn to read. However, if you're going to buy one, definitely get the A/C adapter or some rechargeable batteries, because regular batteries die every few days if they play on it a lot.
I also wish I'd done my research on the prices of their apps before buying. When I heard "apps" I expected to be able to download games for $1-$5 like I do for my phone. Nope. Leapfrog apps range from $7.50-$25. The LeapPad itself is a pretty good value, but all of the extras you need are ridiculous ($20 for a case, $30 for an accessory pack that includes a gelskin, headphones, and an a/c adapter, $25 per game... it adds up).
I did say I'd recommend this to a friend because my daughter does love it, but it would be a pretty weak recommendation. It's almost worth spending the extra upfront on an iPod touch because it comes with most of the accessories, has a rechargeable battery, and cheaper apps.

Review 11 for LeapFrog LeapPad2 Explorer Learning Tablet, Pink
This product is great! We got it for my 5 year old daughter and she cannot get enough of it. It is perfect for kids who are to old for a Leapster but to young for a Nintendo DS. She loves that she can take pictures and videos all by herself. It is also great because you can download games right onto the Leappad2 and do not have to worry about her losing the little game cartridges. She plays it so much that we had to buy the rechargeable batteries for it! I highly recommend this product.

Im glad I have the box and receipt- it will be returned today!! I bought this for my daughter as a birthday present (end of Nov) and have had issues freezing- thought it might be the batteries so i just kept on changing them as they eat through them anyway (about 4 30packs in 2 and half months!!) then last night it froze (of course i just bought $55 in games 3 days ago) so as my usual routine i flipped it over took the battery out and put it back together IT WONT TURN ON!! thinking again it might be the batteries I went to the store this morning bought more batteries and still what do you guess- IT WONT TURN ON- I have contacted leapfrog before and had a horrible customer service experience and I will be bringing it back and will not recommend it anyone, also I see now there are a ton of reviews online with others who have the same problem!

My 3 year old daughter got this for Christmas (it's now January 14th) and the stupid thing stopped working. It's frozen on the sign in page, which I read in reviews and seems to happen pretty often to this product. The apps are ridiculously expensive between $5 and $30 a piece. She loved it when it worked but now it doesn't and she's devastated. Will be exchanging for a different one and if that one freezes too, we won't be buying any more leap pad products.

Good product & Great Customer Service by LeapFrog

LeapPad 2 was a great present for my daugher for Christmas. I noticed a white line down the side of the screen a day after she was using it. Instead of taking it back to the store for a replacement I emailed LeapFrog Support to see if they could give me a quick fix or helpout. They were excellant in helping me with my problem. I do not really like calling customer service of products like these because they never seem to help you and you get the run around. I am 100% satisfied with my LeapPad2 and the customer service of LeapFrog!

Battery Saving Tip

I bought this for my three year old and she is having a blast with it. She loves it more than my phone, Yipee! The reviews that I read before my purchase indicated that this product eats batteries so I bought eight rechargeable batteries. After the four non-rechargeable batteries died I started using the rechargeable batteries. Not only do they last longer, I also do not have to spend a fortune on batteries since I always have four batteries recharging. I also like the fact that after several minutes of inactivity the leappad saves any progress and turns itself off. On the downside, the more entertaining apps are $25 so I always look at getting at least one app free with my purchase which saves at least a little $$$.

Review 18 for LeapFrog LeapPad2 Explorer Learning Tablet, Pink
We got this for our 6 year old grand daughter for Christmas. She loves it! Plays with it all the time. Already gone through 4 sets of batteries, by new years, so we went and got the plug in adapter for home use. She has gotten 3 add on games from other family members. Now she'd rather play it than watch TV. We have spent a lot of time sitting and playing together. Moments where I can teach her more about the machine and the games, then she plays more and is learning! Not just a new latest technology toy, but a real teaching implement.

My 4.5 year old girls got these for Christmas and love them. The apps and games we have purchased for them have both entertainment and educational value. They are a bit more on the expensive side (games/apps) but fortunately for them friends and family gave them games for Christmas.
The only thing I wish was that Walmart had put them in a blank box when shipped instead of the Leappad logo on outside, since they were a gift...fortunately the girls weren't home when they arrived.

Review 20 for LeapFrog LeapPad2 Explorer Learning Tablet, Pink
Amazing product, keeps my 4 year old busy for sure, haven't explored all its qualities yet, but I'm sure it will be a learning tool as well. The only downfall is that all the apps, videos, learning games, etc are expensive, there are no free downloads, so after purchasing the leap pad, you will continue purchasing if you want your child to enjoy it, accessories are expensive but also necessary so you don't have a choice.
