This was awesome. I didn't really have a problem with touchscreen calibration, but I did notice that there was a problem with it going "back" to previous applications a lot. The wifi connected really well. And some of the apps didn't work properly but it comes with a lot of useful apps. After one or two falls the back popped off. Though that was easily fixed by simply popping it back on. Other than that you can download, things like Netflix, youtube and Facebook and they work really well. The speakers are kind of weak, I had to get a speaker to attach to it. And a lot of the "back" problems are fixed by a keyboard.

We bought 2 of these tablets for our children (8 and 4). After reading the reviews, we were kind of scared to even open the package. Once we opened them and got them charged, we were pleasantly surprised by how well the tablet did work. Our touchscreen responded to our touch, we were able to connect to our wi-fi without a problem and we downloaded a good bit of apps from the shop for our kids. It is not our ipad or kindle fire, but it is great for our kids.

Review 9 for Ematic EGL25BL 7" Touchscreen Android 4.0 Tablet with 4GB Memory
Excellent for a starter tablet. As with any tablet it's only as good as what you are going to use it for. Does everything my 6 yr old granddaughter needs it for. But in 6 mos. she will be ready for a stronger one.

It's not my iPad, but for my 7 & 10 year olds, it's not bad either. It doesn't have a super fast processor, And I didn't expect that. My kids will be able to use it for their games, and for reading. It's about as fast as a cell phone, and the "touch screen" is more of a "push screen". Which is ok. All in all, I think Christmas morning, I'm going to have some happy kids that are smiling and quiet for the most part. What more could a parent ask for on Christmas morning?! That and this didn't break the bank!

Good product, however, hooking it up to the computer takes multiple trials, complicated process in sum. Also, it often does not read the memory card. No camera, i expected one. Overall, i think it answers my essential needs.

Got this as a present from my wife and kids and I love it. Only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is the touch screen not as responsive as I would like (may be due to 4.0 on 1Ghz). I have used this now for 30 days and would recommend it without hesitation. You cannot beat the price!

It does everything I wanted to get it for. The touchscreen works good for me. I could not get the app store to work at first, I just restarted it and I have no problem with it now. But it does not support goggle play. That is the only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars.

It was not what I expected. The battery standby life was less than stated and everything was too password-protected (with different passwords). It was very confusing.

I am very happy with this tablet. I only have one complaint, the end of the charger bent and will not insert into the tablet. I contacted Ematic customer support and received a prompt reply and they are getting me a replacment.

UPDATE ON REVIEW - NOT GOOD!!!!
Posted 11/11/2012
I left the above review not knowing the hassle I was going to have to go through. I had my tablet 2 weeks, the charger broke and I contacted Ematic customer support on 7/28/2012. It took me 3 emails and a phone call and over a month to get my charger. Also, I had sent a 10.00 money order on July 30th because the first customer support person that contacted me said I had to send it in so I figured the charger wasn't covered. I then, a couple of days later, was contacted from another customer support person that said it was and that my money order would be returned with my charger. On August 17th he told me they had not received my money order yet, which was hard for me to believe. I told him I didn't see why he had to wait until they received my money order to send me my charger so he finally sent my charger. We contacted the bank, where we got the money order, and found out it cleared August 13th. By the time I received my charger my tablet was dead and would not charge at all or come on while it was plugged in. I remembered that it said to make sure and charge it at least every 2 weeks and not to leave it uncharged for a prolonged period of time. So, I had to return my tablet. I finally, after 4 emails and a phone call, received my tablet on November 7, 2012. I received my 10.00 refund on November 9, 2012, after another email. They did send me another charger and another pair of ear buds and were apologetic, but on their customer service website there are a lot of unsatisfied customers that say they cannot get customer service to communicate with them or help them. I don't believe I will ever buy an Ematic product again. It has also went down $20.00 since I bought mine, I paid $79.00 and now it is $59.00, which stinks. I like the tablet, I got a stylus to use with it because it is a little hard to make it work with your fingers, but it works fine with the stylus. I just had such a hard time and hassle getting all the problems resolved.
Hope this helps!!!!

Great for frugal tech junkies.

I'm relatively new to tablets. Before this one I had a Polaroid 4" tablet with pretty weak specs and running Android 2.2 for $60. So I decided to trade it in and upgrade. For an extra $20 it was well worth it. The screen is clear and big enough to see and read clearly but not so big that it's cumbersome.
I'm seeing a lot of reviews about the screen responsiveness. I had those problems too and so I figured it was the screen protector but that didn't help me either. (Note: Don't take it off! It's very helpful) But I discovered you can calibrate the screen by going to your Settings>Developer Options> Touchscreen Calibrate. It helped a lot. You still should get a stylus though, because this does seem to act like a resistive screen a bit.
I was a bit disappointed when I found it didn't have a camera though. I went to several other sites that said it had one and some of the pictures for this device on this page show a camera on it. But Fortunately that wasn't a huge factor in my purchase. However, it does come with a mini-usb adapter. So maybe in the future, you can connect a usb camera and take pictures. I've heard recently that a developer was making an app to do that. So that would be cool.
The app store that it comes with is pretty weak, I don't recommend it unless you want very very basic things, and even then, you may not find what you want. Instead, you can download the 1mobile app or the Amazon App store. (I prefer 1mobile because it doesn't require a credit card and it still has thousands of apps to choose from.)
The user interface of ICS is a bit difficult to get at first. (I was able to understand it a bit more only because of youtube videos, ha!) After that, it's easy to get the hang of. Also, the earphones it comes with are pretty weak, I suggest using your own headphones if you can.
Overall, this device is great for it's price. No $80 tablet will run 100% the way you would like it to. So I suggest trying to get used to the little things that may annoy you or find a way around it.
I hope this helps. God bless! :D

Regarding the screen's responsiveness, you write that it acts like a resistive touchscreen. If you read the specs, it IS resistive :( Usually tablet manufacturers prominently tout that their product has a capacative screen. They made no such claims about this product. But, for $75 it does come well-equipped otherwise. Have fun with it!

Perfect for kids!

We bought 2 of these for our kids. It feels surprisingly solid (not cheap at all), and I was able to play videos and games without issue. The response time as far as loading apps and going from screen to screen is a little slower at times than I would prefer, but overall, for the price, I'm quite happy with the purchase. I was having trouble getting it to respond to my touch at times, until I realized that there's a clear film over the screen, which you can peel off. I'll keep it in place, though, since my kids will be the primary users. Note - neither one of the two that I purchased came with all of the apps listed, specifically, most of the games.
