Unfortunately, there was a broken spoke on the front wheel when I opened the box. The local Walmart store graciously traded me a replacement bike from their floor inventory!

Great value, get alot for the money

I picked the bike up assembled, and stopped at a bike shop on the way home to have it lubed and adjusted, derailleurs tweaked, wheels trued, etc.
Picked it up 2 days later, and have been having a BlAsT riding it. The 7 gears give an adequate range for use on rail trails, (where I do 90 % of my riding) where they can get you up to a good speed on a decline but gear down enough for the climb back. ;-)
The Bike almost feels too big the first time on it, BUT, it is the first bike I have owned that I can adjust the seat to where I need it without having to get an extended post. (I am 6' 1 1/2")
The larger tires give it a smoother ride of small bumps, and are wide enough to handle pea gravel and dirt.
All in all I spend $250.00 by the time you factor in the tune-up, and in my opinion, it was worth every penny and then some.
I ride currently 40 - 50 miles a week, and am working my way up to longer rides. If you are a tall and/or long legged person, this bike rocks, even for this 52 yo out of shape Dad!

It is a 29" bike but not really made for tall people. I am 6'4" with long legs. The saddle on it's highest allowable position will still make my legs bend, like in a low rider sitting position. Distance from the saddle to the peddle at its lowest point should be about your stretched out leg. This bike is far from that. Your legs will fatigue realy easy if that distance is to short. Great for a workout, terrible for long distance cruising.
However, the large tires give a very smooth ride, especially on gravel roads. And the aluminum frame makes this bike nice and light.

I'm a 70 yr old male who had not ridden a bike for 50+ years. I wanted to get some exercise so I decided to try a bicycle. First I tried a mountain style but returned it because the riding position caused me a lot of neck and back pain.
Then I spotted the Genesis Astra and purchased it assembled at my local Walmart. Wow what fun! This bike is great! The upright position is so comfortable, I ride every day and enjoy every minute.
I have read the reviews about quality issues but mine has worked fine so far after 8 months.

The item came in decent time, but it is apperent that no one inspects the items before they are shipped. The bike arrived with many scratches on the frame, and poor welding, crooked decals, etc. The bolt connecting the seat to the frame was not even made correctly and I wonder how they even screwed it in - does not fit any tool I own. Now i have to return it and hope for the best.

This is the Hummer of bikes....literally....it's huge. I am 6'2....220lbs....62yrs old. I am very happy with this bike. It is the most comfortable I have ever ridden....and it's built perfectly for someone my size. The color is silver...looks more like chrome...just like the picture. Assembly is required...not very good instructions but easy enough to figure out. You will have to adjust the front brakes and tighten some bolts...you will need a screwdriver, an adjustable wrench, and some allen wrenches. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

I'm a 6'-3" male who was looking for a comfortable cruiser to pedal around town. What I found in this bike met every expectation I had. It is very well constructed, lightweight and sharp looking. It came very well tuned at all 7 speeds. The only thing I would suggest would be to remove most of the excessive stickers all over the bike. I noticed also that Walmart now carries 29" replacement tubes, which is great. The bike is so much fun and an incredibly smooth ride.

Had bike assembled without fenders. I removed chain guard and all decals. Used 3 in 1 oil to clean and lubricate entire frame. Loved the bike till the pedal bearings started making noise. Had to replace pedal bearings and was told bike was delivered with no pedal bearing lubrication. Brakes and gears require frequent adjusting. Received many favorable comments regarding bikes appearance. I'm 67, 6'2" and 225 lbs. Bike fits perfectly. Replaced the pedals, and seat stem.

I would opt for a different rim style concern is the universal tube sold at walmart retailers isn't the right fit otherwise you need valve stem extenders and walmart doesn't sell these even on the website but the website will offer up all sorts of retailers who do sell the extenders.

I am satisfied with dealing with walmart for this product but I do have a problem with the quality of the product. There is a emblem on the front wheel that was put on and it wasn't properly put on and as soon as I applied the front brakes the emblem was peeled off by the brake pad.I don't know what I can do about it but am very displeased with it.I just think they could do a better job at that stuff if they want to keep selling it .
