The Roku HD delivers all the streaming entertainment choices, HD video quality and ease-of-use that Roku is known for, at an amazing price. Enjoy tons of movies, TV shows, live sports, news and music from all the top sources including Netflix, Hulu Plus, Pandora, Crackle, NHL and MLB. Netflix fans will love the support for many films with HD, English subtitles and Dolby Digital surround sound. Includes built-in wireless, sets up in minutes and works with virtually any TV.
You need high speed internet, at least 12mbps, it is so simply to install and I had it up and running in about ten minutes. I love it, it is a tremendous value and I have had not even ONE problem since I installed it. You get free access to hundreds of channels and but there are some very worth subscribing to like Netflix and HULU Plus. Put the cash back in your wallet and save about a hundred a month on cable or dish. Roku is a fantastic buy and I have recommended to everyone!

I already have one in my livingroom so when I upgraded my bedroom tv to a LED I just had to get a Roku. I don't have cable in my bedroom and I don't care because Roku is better in my opinion. With hundreds of channels(free and subscription) I don't need anything else. You really get spoiled rotten being able to see what you want when you want. Of course, I got it in the first place because I wanted to watch Neflix through my tv but it doesn't stop there.
I can rent or buy movies from Amazon, VUDU, and more. I can watch those great old Creature Feature flicks from my childhood from channels like Creepster and Drive Ins. It's free to join the site and really easy to link the device to your wireless internet.

If you have high speed internet and are tired of paying high cable bills this is wonderful. Allows you to use your wifi router and lets you watch your netflix, Pandora, pay-per-views and Hulu, as well as hundreds of other channels on your tv for less than you pay for one month cable. hulu and netflix require monthly subscription of $8 each but thats 2 theater tickets and you get 1000's of things to watch. No local broadcast channel access but I use digital box and antenna for that. buying another for my kitchen tv. Highly recommend!

Review 5 for Roku HD Streaming Video Player
Returning it

We purchased this as an upgrade as we had an older model that we used for about 2 years which worked fine except it did not have VUDU. Very disappointed in this new model and getting ready to return it today. It is constantly locking up when I try to watch a scene over and it is very frustrating. Today it locked up for over 10 minutes, I could not get out of the screen at all. Had to unplug the device and start over again. Returning it today. Wish we had just kept our old one.

I really enjoy this product. The streaming of netflix, hulu, and crackle has cut the monthly dollar amout I was paying for cable down from $121 monthly, to $14.98 a month and I have access to even more movies and tv show than cable allowed.

I love this. It is simple to set up and use. You do need to have some subscriptions to get the most out of it (like to netflix or blockbuster), but it is well worth the money.

No Parental or Logon Controls make it a No-Go from the start. There is no doubt it streams well. While the interface is a bit too basic, the quality and ease of streaming is very good. However, having full access to a WWW of content and more, is a non-starter if you have little eyes in the house. The box needs at least a login to start it.

There is a way to control which channels are added to your channel selection by requiring a pin to be put in every time you add a new channel. So just don't add anything that you wouldn't want the kids to see and you will be fine. Just bought mine and am saving $76 dollars monthly from cable/digital TV.
I bought this to replace a time warner cable box in the bedroom. I am very pleased with the device. It will pay for itself not having to pay for the box in a matter of months. The additional features make this even better than having a digital box. Would recommend to anyone with time warner wanting to get rid of a box.

Wonderful we get all kinds of TV. We are in an area that does not get cable and even if it did it would be expensive. We can watch all kinds of TV, movies and even rent on Demand movies. We pay $0 per month for TV, $8 a month for netflix and very little for rentals, for what it would have cost us for one month of cable we have all the TV we could want. The kids get cartoons, I can watch movies and TV shows on my schedule. Not 1000 channels with 995 of them infomercials

My wife and I have never been "current" on television shows because our schedules are weird, and out DVR gets backlogged with shows we think for some reason we want to keep. Our first Roku was a Christmas present. We loved it so much, we bought a second one! Now we're current on television and getting caught up on all the movies we didn't get to see. A handy little device for an excellent price.

Review 14 for Roku HD Streaming Video Player
Not upfront in regard to hidden costs

I purchased this product 2 months ago. Yes, it is simple, but the company doesn't tell you about a few aspects that annoyed me to the point of almost taking it back!
1. Other than Netflix, the content they refer to as 'channels' is lousy and you frequently have to go to your computer to put in 'secret codes' so they can collect data on you and try to get you to spend money. Waist of time! So, if you don't have Netflix forget this product. 2. With Netflix, there is a problem they don't tell you about. That is, your content is limited unless you purchase a search engine that should have come with the product. They want to gouge you another six bucks for a features available on your computer account. Such 'throttling' of content should be clearly indicated at their website. I tried the 'lite' search engine and even if they find the flick you know is available at your web account, the silly thing says that you have to purchase the search engine to view the product! For this reason I came close to returning it... I now know why they sell 'refurbished' roku devices. So, add another 6 bucks to the purchase price for full content! I called Roku and complained, and although they refused to give me this service, they dropped their charge to 3 bucks, which I didn't order on ethical principals. Instead, I have to use my computer to load what I want to see in the instant Que, which then propagates into Roku. BLAHHH! 3. On set-up Ruku routes you to their web site to collect data, which demands a credit card! It said the field is "required" in order to get the product working. It's obfuscation so they can have your data and prepare you to purchase other 'channels' from them. I called the customer service number and they said a credit card is not required and set my account up without incident. Again, an unethical process, which you will find common when it comes to ruku. 4. Go and search to find out how much various 'channels ' cost and an actual list of channels available. It's not available ion their website. They don't want you to know until you purchase the device, which again is of questionable business practice, par for this company. Don't trust them, for they lay out smoke and mirrors to avoid facts that may effect your purchase.

We bought this item for free access to our Netflix account, although this also gives you access to several channels you can buy. The only thing we didn't care for is that you have to give your cc# when registering just in case you do want to purchase certain channels.

Like it alot just wish sometimes it wouldn't freeze up but that only happens for a few(2-3) minutes once a week or so, but overall, glad I got rid of my cable. I can still watch all my favorite shows from the 80s and 90s and some shows from the 2010s, though not many of those appeal to me anyway.Movies galore on Netflix, HULU etc. Just wish I could get get ESPN but I can always go online. Excellent selection of channels and still get CNN 24hrs a day live, and BBC News live too for FREE!! Overall for the cost of internet connection and 16 bucks for Netflix and HuluPlus for a total of $56 a month, unbeatable deal!

I absolutley love my Roku player. I work afternoons and there really isn't a lot on tv when I get home. I also purchased a Nentflix account and now I can't wait to get home and watch a new movie or another episode of whatever I want! I also listen to the music from Pandora before I go to work, There are many other things you can do with this player. Great product for a great price.
