I bought this for my wife. She wanted a tablet but she said she didn't care what size it was. Knowing my wife she would care what size it was. I had the first generation Galaxy Tab that I gave to my daughter for christmas last year.
When I got phones for the family I got an Android for my wife and she's hooked on android. Last year she said she wanted an iPod for Christmas and she's used it only a few times. She said she meant to say iPad. I have the a 10” tablet and that's to big for her. I thought that the 7” would be to small for what she want to do. I was going to bite the bullet and buy an iPad. I just couldn't do it and started searching for Android tablets and came across the 8.9” Samsung Galaxy Tab and could not believe the deal. Perfect size, excellent screen quality, thin, Android OS (which she knows) and she recently got the ICS update Samsung. It also came with a keyboard and a docking station. I could not pass this up!
She loves it and I love that she loves it. The perfect gift at the perfect price for me.

I bought this Galaxy Tablet and picked it on 9/5/12 and had to return it the same day. The darn thing would not work; I am extremely disappointed because I have purchased refurbished Tablets from Wal-Mart before. In fact, my 10 inch Samsung is refurbished and I still have it and it is working great. I must have just gotten a very bad refurbished tablet. The sad thing is that this was a gift and the person was also disappointed I will get another tablet but this time I will buy the brand new one instead. Overall I must say that I am still a Samsung fan and this is an isolated bad purchase for me.

I bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 on 9/1/12 and just received it today! This could very well be the best tablet that I've ever used! I've used the original iPad and Moto Xoom. Set-up out of the box took only a few minutes. After I signed in with my gmail account and downloaded a few of the essential apps, I was ready to go! Samsung really got it right with this tablet! Screen size is perfect! It's super light too! I bought the refurbished tablet through Walmart, and honestly I can't even tell that it's refurbished. It looks and operates like brand new! I also received a bundle pack that includes : the 8.9 tablet, dock keyboard, and another docking station all for just $279! You really can't beat that price for everything that you are receiving. Great deal on Walmart's end. Honestly this is the best tablet I've ever owned and I am completely 110% satisfied with my purchase! Highly recommended!!!!!!

This was purchased to replace a 10 year old business computer that was primarly used for property rental tracking and documents. Initially, we had no intention of considering a tablet, however after evaluation of desktops which seem inconvienient, and laptops which we have 2 others, we couldn't deny the portability and usefulness of this bundle.
The tablet appears to be a typical Samsung product; tough, dependable, and easy to use. We were very leary about the lesser known brand tablets and didn't like the lower review scores. The reviews on this one were 95% positive. The size is right on too; this is noticeably bigger than a 7 (big enough to see and very good resolution# while barely smaller than the 10 so it fits into the pouches available better. It is also quite light and thin, in fact a couple friends with acers and asus 10.1's have remarked how much 'lighter' it feels.
The speed and functionality of Android on this tablet is excellent. I do not have a a smart phone yet within a couple hours I had an office program and HP eprint working with documents easier than the old computer did. The HP eprint is much easier to work with than plugging in a printer and loading drivers then getting updates then printing test pages; All I do now is let the tablet look for any HP printer on any available network and push the button...yes that easy; no computer required.
The 5 menu screens are really fast and easy to navigate and tailor to my needs; The GPS is already onboard and better than some dedicated units I have used; better accuracy, easier routing, bigger screen, and voice activated. Angry Birds is fun too. The onscreen keyboard is plenty big and usable. The speakers are unusually loud, I have it on the lowest setting when in the office which is plenty and so far not even 1/2 way when sharing music without earphones.
The battery is way better than expected; I've been getting around 15 to 16 hours of pretty constant use before it warns me of needing a recharge
The bundle is what sealed the deal. The NEW dock is at home with the laptop. The NEW keyboard dock is at my office, the NEW ear phones and NEW card reader are with me in case I need them, the NEW data cable is usualy with me too #so far only needed for charging# and the seemingly brand new tablet is where ever I need it.
A couple of items to consider: Unlike the Asus TF300, the keyboard is just a dock and isn't really portable, yet it is almost as big as a regular laptop's. There are plenty of wireless keyboards that will work fine or you could use the voice recognition, it works great. There is only 1 wired input/outputs on this; the Samsung 30pin which can be adapted to what is needed although wires and adapters are really a thing of the past.
My buddies that have 10.1 tablets, they paid double for the same stuff. If someone was on the fence when considering this deal; my suggestion is to actually price out new equipment on paper the bundle and make the comparison, this will win the bang for the buck.
Overall we are big fans of this product and are already suggesting it to others.

Wow, i did extensive research on tablets including the new Ipad. Researched all the 7 inch tablets for portability. I wanted something that i could use all around and without breaking the bank. Im in nursing school and so i wanted something for school to look at powerpoints and write papers, i wanted a fast processor to watch movies and stream. big enough to have a good viewing experience but yet more portable than a 10 inch tablet. the accessories are great! the dock, keyboard, headphones w/ microphones and even the SD card reader is great to expand your memory. If you are weary of buying refurbished don't be! the tablet came without a blemish and is perfect. The best thing of all is that i paid 28 bucks for a two year spill/crack/drop warranty through walmart and they will replace or fix. i updated my OS to 4.0.4 Ice cream sandwich without a problem. I went to settings and updated it and now i have ICS. the 8.9" screen is perfect. Love this device! thinking of getting a 2nd!!!

I have been on a hunt for a tablet for months. Since money is hard nowadays, it was kinda difficult to just buy one without carefully checking everything on the market first. The 7" tabs are too small, the 10.1" tabs are too big and heavy. The prices are quite high still on either size. The brands i am not so sure of. Finally I found this Samsung 8.9" and at $299 with a dock, a keyboard and sd card reader, it is unbeatable. I got mine yesterday and I have been so into it since. I couldn't put it down a minute. After trying to figure out some glitches, this thing is a wonderful beast! I love it to the max! It is beautiful, crystal clear screen and it delivers fast computing. I am glad I went with a top brand like Samsung. Size is perfect and tab is light. Very very happy with my newest baby...my Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 !!! Great deal !!!!

I would never know it was refurbished. It works like new. The size is perfect. It fits into my bag and I can take it anywhere. Also love the keyboard dock for when I am at home. . I do wish they would've included a USB card reader adaptor along with the bundle. I had to buy that separately. But still a great value.

I was a little hesitant buying refurbished, but with all the accessories this came with, I was willing to give it a try. I have not been disappointed. This tablet looks and feels brand new and I love the mini keyboard accessory. I am still learning my way around the tablet as it is my first one, but I am excited about all the possibilities! Don't hesitate to try this deal - it is well worth it.

I'm enjoying my Galaxy Tab 8.9.
It allows me to receive e-mails and surf the web anyplace where there is wi-fi.
My tablet was a refirbished one, but it was really hard to tell from new.
The 8.9 inch size is just right - it is small enough to hold in one hand and does not feel like a plate like some of the 10 inch tablets do. But it has a larger and easier to read screen than the 7 inch tablets.
Shipping from Wal-Mart was really quick.
Battery life is exceptionally good and much better than the netbook that I used before I got my tablet.

I've owned a 10 inch tablet for a year now and wanted something smaller. The 7 inch tablets were too small. This 8.9 inch was just right. However, I REALLY wanted a quad core tablet and came sooo close to buying the Asus Transformer TF300 tablet for just $379. It's a quad core running ice cream sandwich. However, the quads are only coming in 10 inch screen sizes and I would just be stuck wishing I had a smaller and more portable screen (but it was sooo tempting).
This refurbished deal had me worried so I bought the walmart protection plan for $75 which covers it for 2 yrs for ANY damage, even If I drop it, break the screen or spill liquid on it. The tablet works great, I absolutely love the size and light weight. I own an Acer Iconia A500 10 inch and it feels like I'm carrying a brick compared to the Galaxy Tab 8.9. The acer iconia is also a very nice tablet but I use it more as my home computer because of its heavier weight (it has all the connection ports of a laptop). All the accesories that came with the galaxy tab work fine. The keyboard dock is great. It's a very high quality keyboard and costs $79 if you bought it by itself.
If you don't mind the 10 inch screens you'd be a fool not to get the Asus Transformer TF300 for only $379. It's faster and runs better than the Ipad's and costs a fraction of the price. However, if you're looking for the smaller screen size then the galaxy tabs are the best tablets out there. I love my galaxy tab 8.9 and the refurbished model looks and runs like brand new.

I ordered this refurbished item and bundle reluctantly at first, as i had never ordered anything along these lines from Walmart before. It was the however, the only place I could find this tablet online for a reasonable price (the addition of the bundle was just icing on the cake). This product has been really great and bundled items much more useful than I could have imagined. The quality of the refurbished items was excellent (might as well be new) and the new bundled items were a nice touch.
Overall a great purchase and great device (I am currently using the bundled keyboard and Galaxy Tab to write this review).

The title may seem a bit overblown, but read on. Outside the business world, most people use a computer for two things, email and surfing the net. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 tablet starts up a lot faster than my fairly new Lenovo laptop running Windows 7 and handles email and surfing the net just as easily. Many websites detect if you're browsing from a computer or a mobile device like a phone and adjust what you see based on that. So far I have not found a website that thinks I'm using a phone when I'm using the Tab so you get the regular full website. As long as I have my Android phone with me I can access the internet anywhere I have a decent phone signal by tethering the tablet to my phone with no added charges from my carrier. I can also connect to the networked HP color printer at home. I have the Amazon Kindle, Google eBook and Nook apps installed and it works great as an ereader without the wretched restrictions that Amazon and B&N place on their Android tablets. The tablet weighs less than 20% of what my laptop weighs which makes it much more portable and a lot handier for traveling. The SD card reader allows me to load up a 32Gb micro SDHC card with a lot of movies and music to entertain myself on those boring airline flights. The screen resolution is simply stunning. I've also streamed a movie from Netflix without any problems and it looked good, much better than some TVs I've seen and way better than an iPhone. The virtual keyboard is big enough to use fairly quickly but putting the Tab into the keyboard dock gives you a genuine keyboard that is very nice and quick to use.
The downside is that there is no high-end photo or video editing software available for Android, yet. There's no DVD/CD drive for hauling around movies or music in those formats. Because I take a lot of photos and videos that need editing I will continue using my laptop for those and maybe a couple of other tasks that truly need a real computer. But, for general use and certainly for traveling the laptop will be staying at home.
So, that is why I believe Android tablets are the future of computing for the majority of consumers. The same may apply to iPads but I have no experience using one so I can't really evaluate the utility.

The tablet works well as expected. There are some hiccups (like the latest Skype update not showing the camera window in proper dimensions), but overall it works well. Some cool games for kids, convenient size, excellent quality screen.
