I bought this camera a few days ago but wondering if I should take it back now or keep working with it. When I was purchasing this and the associate opened the box to check for all the parts I noticed the batteries included were already opened and thrown in the box which made me think someone had already used the camera and returned it. Bought it anyway. 1st mistake probably. After I got it home, I confirmed it had been used because it wasn't on the default settings. It already appeared to have a small scratch on the LCD, mistake #2 for not returning it. Now my thing with the camera is, is there always a long delay in getting the camera to focus on just a plain and simple shot. I don't want to be out and miss a good shot because the camera won't focus. Other than that I haven't experimented much with other settings. The focus delay has me somewhat frustrated. Any comments appreciated.

Disappointment for a Nikon

Not quite the camera for a Nikon. I really expected better. Picture quality is lacking and the autofocus can take forever. Regular AA batteries are the worst.
It looks good and feels good in the hands but the camera's abilities are fair at best. Perhaps I am being too hard on it since my first camera was an FA-2 (think pre-digital). I had hoped with all the specs it would have met the quality of the digital Coolpix 995 - but, no.
My suggestion: look at the CoolPix P510 or the D3000 series.

The WalMart web site showed an 8GB SD card as if it came with the camera, but it didn't??
Also, having problems with the software that came with the camera......locks up on PC. Contacted Nikon and they are supposed to have an answer.

I did not like this camera at all. The only good pictures it tool were of totally still objects. Any movement equaled a blurred picture and I tried all settings. There was also about a 7 sec delay from when you pushed the button to take the picture until it actually took it. I was very disappointed

I have a serious problem with the batteries usage of this camera. The original batteries died just after 2 weeks while I used the camera only every other day for taking couple of photos. I put a new set of batteries, normal quality, in it and they died just after 4 days. Can you believe this?
In addition in most of the situations the quality of photos is less than I have expected. Indoor photos for example is awful. I do not suggest any one to buy this camera.

Although it has a great zoom and some cool features. I hate this camera. Pictures are fuzzy and hard to stay focused. I have missed many great photos of my grandchildren. I will be getting rid of this camera and going back to my Cannon EOS. This is a waste of your money.

Works great- zoom is amazing! Maybe a little harder to figure out than I expected, but nothing too difficult. Picture is clear and beautiful, flash is good. Only thing I didn't like was the lack of a rechargeable battery.

I have always been a fan of Nikon due to their superior lenses and quality workmanship.
This camera, despite its modest price, does not disappoint. Ease of use and quality photos are impressive and I would suggest this camera, not just for a beginner (though it is simple enough to operate) but for anyone wanting a dependable low-cost DSLR that delivers good results.
It is not, of course, professional grade, but fully adequate for my needs and the needs of the average home photographer.
This camera, despite its modest price, does not disappoint. Ease of use and quality photos are impressive and I would suggest this camera, not just for a beginner (though it is simple enough to operate) but for anyone wanting a dependable low-cost DSLR that delivers good results.

This camera has a zoom that is fabulous. Even at it's highest power, 26, you can capture shots with details that are amazing. Down load them to you computer and and enlarge them and the detail remains incredible. This was a purchase that met my expectations and more.

My husband and I bought this camera because we had heard so many good things about Nikon. Well this camera was terrible. It took forever to focus and by the time you finally got it to take the picture the moment you were trying to capture was long gone. We will be exploring a different brand now.
